Okay you gals have convinced me to keep the round-up going for another year. Thank you for your encouragement and support and especially a big thank you to all of you who participated in 2008!
As many of you suggested, this year we are going to concentrate on smaller projects rather than entire rooms. For example in May we will be concentrating on surfaces in our home and you’ll be able to choose any surface in your home you’d like. It could be your dining room table, a kitchen counter top or even your bedside table. It’ll be up to you whether you do one surface or many. I’m hoping that the accomplishment of getting one project done will be the motivation you need to keep going.
Here’s the specifics:
What: Org Junkie’s Monthly Round- Up
Who: Anyone who wants to participate, everyone is invited. You can do one month or all, just jump in when you want to.
When: Every month in 2009
Why: To conquer various tasks in your home, to be motivated to continue and to be inspired by other participants.
How: At the end of every month I’ll put up a Mr. Linky for you to link up to your before and after pictures of the project you tackled as per the monthly theme. Please feel free to use the banner above or button over there in the sidebar if you like.
Prizes: I’m definitely hoping to continue to offer prizes. Again it will depend on sponsorship (if you are interested please let me know!) and as the prizes become available I’ll update this post.
Schedule:
January ~ Filing Cabinet (those pesky paper piles!) - random winner will receive the Scanalog software
February ~ Recipes - random winner to receive a copy of BH&G Early Spring 2009 Storage magazine
March ~ Memorabilia/Pictures - random winner to receive the Dovetail Organizer software
April ~ Closet/Cupboard - random winner to receive Growing Up Organized: A Mom-to-Mom Guide
May~ Surface/Shelf - FIVE random winners will receive a copy of Throw Out Fifty Things: Clear the Clutter, Find Your Life
June ~ Vehicle - random winner will receive a copy of the book When Organizing Isn’t Enough by Julie Morgenstern
July ~ Hair supplies/makeup - random winner will receive a copy of Jennifer Ford Berry’s book Organize Now!: A Week By Week Guide To Simplify Your Space And Your Life
August ~ Command Central
September ~ Purse/Bag
October~ Drawer
November ~ Toys
December ~ Fridge/Freezer
I’m so very excited about this as many of these areas I need to accomplish in my own home and will be tackling them along with you. I also hope to offer encouragement and practical solutions throughout the month related to the different areas.
Please don’t hesitate to let me know if you have any questions.
Let’s have fun and get stuff done! Yeehaw!!

I am in!
I’m in! I didn’t do it last year, but I’m a woman on a mission this year!
Thank you so much!
Phoebe
Yeah!! One little area is so much less intimidating than a whole room!
Count me in anything that helps keep me on task and find my glasses is perfect
Laura you have picked areas that I need help in badly! Yea! I’m in!
I’m so happy you’re doing it again! And the prizes are great, but the accomplishment of the task is highly rewarding in and of itself. Thank you Org Junkie!
I might actually be able to do more of these round ups since they are smaller. Last year I did a couple before my husband’s cancer returned (and even won a prize!) Wishing everyone luck.

What a great idea. I really need to do this!!
I’m in! Though i am hopefully going to be doing some room work this year. I only just discovered you at the tail end of the year… which is good since that’s when I moved into my new house. Lots of projects to do and hopefully your encouragement and inspiration ideas will help!
I’m in, too! Thanks for doing it again this year!
Lady Ozma you can also follow along with last year’s room schedule if you like. I’ve linked to it above.
I love the smaller areas! I can’t wait to jump in.
What a great plan…surely I can carve out enough time each month to tackle these challenges! Although some of these areas are MAJOR issues at my house…like photos…oh my!!!
Love the new twist! I’ve been working at purging through my paper piles and will very soon be doing some neccessary filing. Good timing!
I’m so glad you are doing the filing cabinet … that was already high on my agenda and I’m sure that your Roundup will help me along.
Woo hoo! I wanted to start on my file cabinet first anyway! The paper is taking over the house!!!
i found your blog a few weeks ago and love all your information i have found! ill be getting my own place soon, so i am going to use all your tips to make it amazing organized! I cant wait!
This is a great idea and timely for me too as my file cabinet is a mess!
I’m SO excited about February’s recipe organization! That was one of my short-term goals. I have recipes all over the place. My filing cabinet is organized (really!), so I think I’ll work on recipes for January and February. It may take that long! Thanks for the inspiration!
Yay!
This is a great idea! I’m ready…. thanks for the push I needed :)
Good Tuesday morning to all!
For the month of March when you get to photo organization, I have the BEST EVER tool…it is called the Creative Memories Power Sort Box. It organizes up to 2400 photos. I have three…one for each of my children. No one can convince me there is anything BETTER on the market!
Go to http://www.mycmsite.com/marycluley to view.
I’m planning to participate this year. Looking forward to seeing everyone’s projects!
I think filing cabinets need at least 2 months! LOL At least mine do ;)
I found you late in the year last year so I was only able to participate in one or two of these. I can’t wait to join in more!!!
Great! I’m in for as often as I can participate.
I am in! This is much less intimidating than last year! LoL! :)
I’m excited to get started! I’ve wanted to participate everymonth last year, but never seemed to find (make) the time to get a whole room done. I’m all about the small, yet important, projects!
I am definitely in this year!
Oh my gosh! Have you been poking around in MY home?? You’ve nailed me. To a T. Especially those first 3. Things I’ve been needing to get around to, since, since… well, since the very first org challenge I’m sure!!
Can’t wait to get it all taken care of!:)
I am so IN! My house desperately needs this!!
Count me in - put up the button!
I’m in! I need some real organizing done in my home!
I’m really excited about this new year….last year I was so distracted with life changes, but this year is looking up!
I discovered you within the last few days and I’m hooked! Looking forward to the challenges. The first thing I have to do is pull the filing cabinet out of the garage, where it’s been for the last 3 years (since we moved). Eeek!
I am so excited! I love all of the projects for this year. I am definitely in. =D
I am totally in. I love that each area on the list has room for improvement!!!
I really need to do this so I think that I’ll join in this year, I only learned about your round up a few months ago when I was first introduced to your blog.
I think that I will attempt to blog about this each week and hopefully even have pictures of how I’m doing. Any help I get will be good and I know that my hubby will thank you for motivating me :D
I love this Challenge, I may jump in and do last years room thing in addition. I’m at a loss for ideas that have to do with the filing cabinet. Do you have any ideas or suggestions.
Thanks
I think you must have seen my house when you picked each month’s area. I am so excited to do these! You are awesome!!
Hi I have recently found you and I want to participate this year…what do I do?
Count me in, too!
Sounds like a great challenge. I hope to participate at times this year:-)
Wow! I can’t wait to get started. My life has become much busier lately, so I’m excited to see some smaller projects this year.
I am so excited to follow along this year! I will probably go ahead and follow last years schedule too, since I want to get my home fixed up and organized! Thanks so much for doing this again!
I love this idea! I’ll definitely be back to participate.
OK, I’ve printed the list and I’m ready to go. My goal this year is to actually get rid of 20-30% of the stuff in my house. So far this year we’ve sent out 12 large leaf bags full of stuff. Who can organize when there’s too much stuff. I’m excited to join in the fun!
Brilliant! Projects sound so doable! Thanks for the inspiration!
I am really looking forward to each month. Goodluck to everyone!
I’m in. The January project is perfect for me…. the papers need to go in the filing cabinet… they are waiting :D. But that is why the mancave door stays shut. :D
Oh! I absolutely LOVE areas you’ve chosen this time! I’m IN this year as I can actually get around to those in under a day(probably). :)
Cathy
My files look like they have a stomach virus - like it’s vomiting paper! So count me in! One question - how do I sign up?
Great themes. I’ll try to get in on some of these!
Thank you so much for continuing this!! I never got a chance to participate last year, but I loved to see what people were able to do. I am really looking forward to being a participant this year.
Thanks :)
I am very excited about this~
Thanks for doing it again
I LOVE this idea! I can’t wait to read!!!
I am so in! I need this in my life right now. Great timing! You are the best. Hugs, Bobbi Jo
I am so in!!
Oh yay, I’m glad you’re continuing! I didn’t always do the challenges, but I did a few of them and they definitely inspired me to consider those areas of my house!
I’m in! I just found you tho, so I may lag a bit…lol
I’m in! We’re in the midst of selling our condo, so a lot of stuff ‘was’ clean a few months ago. I haven’t filed since! I have piles on the computer desk, the recliner, the couch in the living room, my bag, etc. I will have to remember to take the before pics. Tomorrow, DH and I are taking down the tree, so I’ll let him do that and try to shove the tree into the bag while I organize and get ready to file!
I’m in for may. My computer desk is a disaster area! It’s one of those areas that everything unwanted (but nobody wants to throw away) migrates to.It’s time i took on the challenge!
I’m so excited you’re doing this again! Thanks for the hard work and dedication! :D
I am looking forward to this. I need some help to regain my organization around here.
I’m in too!!
I am going to join in… so excited!
What an awesome idea! This is a great way to get people (*cough*like me) motivated into organizing the junk that’s piled up. lol
Count me in!! My filing system is awful…wait, it’s almost non-existent.
This sounds like fun. Count me in!!!
I am so in!!! Maybe this will get me to actually organize my file cabinet (don’t hold your breath on that one!!)
I love it! I’ve just found this site and I’m excited to participate since I’m always looking for ways to be more organized. And some of those topics are much needed areas of focus in my house! Thanks! I’m excited!
I’m in. Seeing your filing before and after pics totally inspired me! It now is on my list of things to do in January!
Count me in! I need all the help I can get!
I’m in too. My filing cabinet could use a makeover.
I am so glad I found this on a friends web site. I am going to join and get organized!
I just discovered your site and had my stuff already but your challenge got me started and it took no time to go through the stuff I really needed to keep now I’m going to shred the old stuff and get rid of it. Thanks for the roundup Ideas!!!
okay… I am soooo in, but I am a little confused how to link between the two blogs. I have been posting a few recipes on my blog, so I am promoting your “challenge”. I would like to tell people about it, but I am not sure I have done it right! Hopefully I will get the hang of this soon!
Jenn
I won’t be able to send before and after pictures of my progress but do we report on our progress and how often? Not sure if I understand the rules of this challenge. I’ve got so much stuff to weed through, I don’t know where to start!
I just found this site - LOVE IT! I am in! I do just what you do! We have a daughter with multiple food allergies and I know I have killed many trees trying to find recipes that taste good :( . And my favorite recipes are all smudged and smeared and stained. This is going to be a big challenge for me!
I have set goals for February’s round up. I will be re-organizing my recipe box and purging some cookbooks. I blogged my post on it. http://kittytigerskitchen.blogspot.com/2009/02/another-free-cookbook.html
I’m in as well. This should be interesting!
I love all your ideas. How do you organize your spouse? I get very weary picking up after the spouse and trying to organize them which they don’t do. Therefore I get behind on my things too and it looks like I am the slob.
I’m in!!! I have soooo many recipes, that my box is too full to pull anything out or add anything to it. I have cookbooks, a family binder, and photocopies of recipes galore!
Oh, I know it’s mid-February, but I just learned about this website from a friend’s blog - yea for me, ’cause I need it! I’ll attempt to catch up with January’s challenge as well.
Goodness…this site is great! I’ll be playing along in March. I want to get my scrapbooks up to date. I’m only 4 years behind, it can happen..right?
Take care,
Amy
Sign me up! I just found you after a friend linked you. Great stuff you’re doing!
This is awesome! I just found you through a link for meal planning, but I am SO in on this adventure with y’all. Sign me up! LOL
oooo now this sounds like it will be fun and a good place for me to start. Thanks for giving me a good place to start. Merci!!
I just found this site, and I am in for as long as I can.
Awesome stuff as usual
Darn…forgot to take before pictures of DD’s closet! It looks beautiful now! I definitely need to tackle MY closet! Ugh! Will do before & after pics for sure! It’s ALL my stuff too…none of it is DH’s!!!
I can’t wait to get started. Chuck it, throw it, toss it! YEAH!
Great idea, I like the break down, I almost want to do them all over one weekend!
Is it too late for me to jump in? I just recently found this website and LOVE it! Thank you!
You know I have been completely overwhelmed by my desk - trying to tackle it and never having time. It is our command central. I am glad I am off the hook for now and have time to gear up to tackle it for August :)
wow, i just found this page. so joining in now!! thanks
I am in and loving it
