The following is a guest post about her daily required organizing task from regular contributor, Kristin at The Gold Project.
My Daily Required Organizing Task
Organizing has to be one of my favorite things to do. I seriously get enjoyment out of taking everything out of my closet and creating a new organization system. I have been that way since I was in grade school. But, there are those days when my house is a disaster and I can’t get everything accomplished on my to do list. It is called life and sometimes, organizing takes a back seat.
With that being said, there is one organizing task that must be done every single day, no matter how behind I am in the mornings.
And, that task is making up my bed.
It is a daily task that was passed down from my mom. It was a requirement to have the beds made up before leaving for school. I never really understood the importance of it until I lived on my own.
When I went to college, I found myself making up my bed every morning just like my mom taught me. Not because I had to, but because it felt good. And, I have continued the daily task.
If you have a home that you feel is completely unorganized, start making up your bed every single day. It may seem like a small task, but it is a very important one. To me, after my bed is made-up, my room immediately feels more clean and organized. When my bed is unmade, it makes the room look even more chaotic. My brain has a hard time functioning when there is clutter and chaos all over the place.
It doesn’t take 5-minutes to complete and it will make you feel a lot better afterwards. It feels so good to come home after a long day of work and see my bed put together.
Do you make up your bed every morning? Perhaps you have a different daily required organizing task that you must get done every day? I would love for you to share your thoughts with us.
My name is Kristin and I am a middle school career education teacher by day and a mommy/wife/blogger by night. I am married to my high school sweetheart and we have two loving children. We recently made a life-changing move to Arkansas, so our new house is always under construction. I get excitement out of finding new creative, functional, and cute ways to organize things! I also enjoy writing and documenting life as it happens. So, I put these loves together and created The Gold Project. With the help of my husband, I am attempting to turn our house into a home. So, check out this special place of mine and take this journey with me!

I have a list of things I do every day, but making the bed is always he first thing I do. I even make the bed when I stay in a hotel!

Now, you are amazing. I do feel a little uneasy having to leave the hotel room bed unmade, but I never make it. But, after you saying that, I might start. 🙂

I thought I might be one of the only ones, we are daily bed makers and even in a hotel we straighten out the bed in the a.m. Even in our small camper, we always make the bed up.

Start the day with an accomplishment! There was a great speech from a naval officer at a college graduation that addressed making your bed everyday. It was great! If you succeeded doing that no matter what the rest of your day brings, there is one thing you got right!
