8 Year Blog Anniversary Giveaway! (closed)

8 Year Blog Anniversary Giveaway

Hello my lovely readers.  Can you believe I just recently celebrated 8 years of blogging!!!  That’s an incredibly long time to be talking about one subject but thankfully it happens to be one I’m passionate about so that definitely helps 🙂

8 years ago my youngest son was only 6 months old and while home on maternity leave with him was looking for something to do so I wouldn’t have to clean house to pass the time and started reading blogs.  I fell in love with them.  People sharing their lives and teaching us all sorts of things.  I wanted one.  So I started this here blog as a hobby and titled it I’m an Organizing Junkie right from the beginning.   I’ve been blogging about organization ever since.  I had no idea that my wee hobby blog would eventually end up as a business and would allow me the opportunity to become a work at home mom.  I’m so very grateful to God for granting me the desire of my heart to be home with my little guy.  I also want to thank each of YOU, my many wonderful readers, because none of this would have been possible without all your support over the years.  I simply cannot thank you enough.

Probably the thing I’m most proud of and I’ve mentioned this before, is that I don’t constantly get asked the question “how do you do it all”.  It means I’ve portrayed myself accurately and honestly here.  I’m not superwoman and don’t ever want to give the impression that I am.  I think I’ve been successful with that. This blog has followed my journey to simplifying, learning to say NO and letting go of numerous stress inducing extra curricular activities for my kids.  Stress can unexpectedly wreck havoc on our lives when we encounter situations that we can’t control, I am certainly not going to contribute to that by inviting it in myself with situations I can control.

So much of the stress we encounter day to day is self induced.

And while some people thrive on stress and chaos (or pretend they do), I am not one of them.  I learned I like having margin in my life to just breath and enjoy life’s simple pleasures.  Life doesn’t have to be as complicated as we make it sometimes that is for sure.

It’s been pretty awesome to share this journey with you and I’ve loved whenever a reader has shared their own journey to organization and simplicity with me.  I’ve kept a file in my email account titled “so sweet” with all the lovely emails that readers have sent me over the years sharing the changes they’ve made in their lives based on something I’ve posted here.  That is very very cool and it’s definitely what keeps me going with blogging year after year.

PS:  If you are new to my blog, welcome.  HERE is a great place to start.

8 Year Blog Anniversary Giveaway

So in honor of my blog anniversary it’s time for a fun giveaway.  These are just a few of my favorite things.  And because there is such a wide assortment of goodies I decided to do a video to explain everything that’s included.  It’s been so long since I’ve done a video and I actually really enjoy doing videos, but I can’t figure out the whole editing side of things (I use my iPad and the iMovie app on it is limited for editing).  So please be kind with me as this entire video was done in one take.

If you can’t see the video above, you can find it here.

Here are a few pictures to give you an idea of what one lucky winner will receive.

  40. I like posts that offer multiple ideas for one area; or ideas for multi functional furniture. Like using an ottoman to store video game equipment – in livingroom or kids room. 47. Congrats on 8 awesomely organized years! I love your blog, app, book and all of the ideas you share!

  48. I neglected to comment according to the instructions, so here’s comment #2. 😉 You cover such a wide array of organizing topics, but I always think more topics on time organization could be beneficial…especially in this age of technology!

  56. Hi! My favorite posts are about keeping paper clutter down and would love to see
some posts about keeping kids clutter (especially school papers) down to a minimum.

  57. I actually love and appreciate almost all organizing posts! I’m soo far from where I should be and I need all the motivation I can get! I do love the menu planning in particular. I actually get excited on Mondays bc I know you’ll have a new menu plan up! I absolutely love the things you’ve chosen for this give away! And I am still a pen and paper girl too! I do make my grocery list in my phone so that I don’t end up out n about without it, but as far as a planner, I have to see it on paper! I do set reminders in my phone after I write things down, so I’m a little of both I guess! I suppose if I were to choose what I’d like to read more of it would be help keeping my kids motivated. I have 4 kids; 10, 8, 3 in July, n 1 this month. Last year I hardly had to ask my big kids to do their chores and this year it’s been like pulling teeth!! It’s soo frustrating! Thanks for the chance to win!

  58. This is awesome! I recently discovered your site & am just drinking it all in! Congrats on 8 yrs :0)

  59. I love all different types of organization ideas…. Love the meal ideas and ways to simplify cleaning.

  60. My favorites are organizing physical spaces — home office, closets, etc. My biggest challenge is always papers — office papers, magazines, catalogs, etc.

  61. Congrats on eight years, that’s a long time in blog years! Interested in ways to keep our two working parents with two busy kids running smoothly. Thanks!

  62. I love you blog! When I told my mom I had found a blog called “I’m an organizing junkie” she said Well, of course you did! ????

  63. Where do I start? Organizing the kids rooms, the closet, filing cabinet, pantry, kitchen. Everything pertains to me except the garage. The garage is the honey’s and I’m not allowed to mess with that. 🙂 I’ve also enjoyed your challenges. I’ve participated in two, although the last one I didn’t finish because we went on vacation before it was over and I lost steam, but you motivate me to get up and try.

  64. What a great giveaway – trying hard to organize myself as a working mom. This sure would help.

  65. It’s amazing how much you can get accomplished when you’re trying to avoid doing something else! Congratulations 🙂

  66. I’d love a post or two on organizing those large cabinets in the hallway the store everything from linens to seasonal decorative items to play dough to medicines to…….

Also, I’d love any advice you could give on getting children to put things back where they belong after you gotten all the toys/clothes organized.

  67. No, really, thank YOU Laura for teaching us all about how to organize our homes and maintain our sanity at the same time! My house is sooo much more organized and calm since I found your blog?

  68. I love reading your blog and also enjoy your guest bloggers! Congrats on 8 years and many more to come!

  69. I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE all the things you’re giving away! Fingers crossed that I’m the winner! Keep up the great work. Love your blog!

  70. Congrats on 8 years! I have a quick tip for you…I buy Bigelow tea in the big box from Sam’s club. The box is great: sturdy with an attached lid, not too big or small, has a low profile. Anyways, I am on this kick to reuse items I think are useful and this box fits this. I bought some contact paper from the Dollar Tree and covered 2 boxes with it. I made 1 for me and 1 for my daughter. We tend to have a lot of things we like to keep next to where we sit in the family room…but it just always looked cluttered. I have been searching for years for something to stow away these items yet still looks nice. I have used baskets, plastic bins, even old cigar boxes…nothing was quite perfect until I thought to use this box! I am disabled and like to keep a lot of things next to my chair so I am not constantly asking my daughter to bring me things. In my box I keep: pens and pencils, pencil sharpener, scissors, nail file and clipper, tweezers, reading glasses, extra batteries for the remote, a small flashlight, wrapped straws, q-tips, medicines, a small sewing kit, cell phone charger, tape, paper clips, mini stapler, gum and mints, mirror, stamps, envelopes and return address labels, a small notebook, post its and Kleenex. As you can see, it holds quite a bit. I even reused the divider inside and made it sturdier by covering it with contact paper as well. I only use parts of the divider so it can accommodate the larger items. Hope you find this tip helpful. It can be used in so many different ways!!!

  71. I just adore your blog! I would love to see some bedroom organization. My room seems to be the catch all room and I need to change that!

  72. You are an inspiration. And your generosity by giving tools to others is also inspiring! Being okay with imperfect organizing is a really helpful concept for someone like me. Thanks for sharing.

  73. Congrats! And it is hard to narrow down what I like the best on your blog. I love when you have creative storage solutions to share. I feel like I never have enough storage for things we use often. It’s like I never can get everything put away because we always have to get it back out.

  74. Congratulations on 8 years! I have three kids who go to a lot of their friends’ birthday parties. I usually get haphazard birthday gifts at the last minute. I’d be interested in an article about being better at organizing and planning for children’s birthday gifts. Other problem areas right now are school supplies, school lunches, encouraging kids to pick up after themselves, and pictures.

  75. Congrats! I am an organizer also…so I love reading your blog! My addiction came from living in a 35 foot travel trailer with 2 little kids while we had to travel following construction jobs! After that.. it was just habit! Thanks for your blog!

  83. Congrats on 8 years! Love your blog. My favorites are always the ones on kids or kitchen stuff.

  84. I love your blog! I would love to see some posts on organizing montessori/ therapy type play spaces in the home for special needs moms.

  85. I really like that your blog is not totally focused on young families. Thanks for all your good ideas.

  86. I have a 12 year old daughter and I would love more tips on organizing all her stuff like nail polish, hair accessories, knitting stuff, yarn, the list goes on.

  87. Congratulations on your 8 years!
I enjoy reading your blog. I’d like to read about organizing the cargo part of my Yukon XL…or similar area. Everything is always piled up and occasionally falls out when the hatch door is opened. Thanks!!!

  88. Congratulations on your 8 year anniversary, and thank you for continuing to publish such quality and useful information!

  89. what an accomplishment! you should be so proud! what a cute giveaway.

here’s to 8 more great years!

  90. I enjoy all the organizing tips I can get!!! And I appreciate your honesty to “not doing it all” everyday. It is stressful enough to take care of your kids at home each day and maintain the household. I can relate to that and it feels good to know that others feel the same way. Thank you for your blog!

  91. Congrats on your blogging anniversary!!! Ans thanks for the opportunity to win this awesome price.

The blog posts I enjoy the most are all about the kids stuff. It just seems to be a never ending battle to keep things under control: the toys, the clothes (i have two boys with a 4 year age difference, so i have a TON of clothes from son 1 for son 2), tons of toys that the big brother no longer plays with but the little one is still too little for plus of course the toys that they currently play with… It just seems like a battle i cannot win. I love any and every idea you can give us. 🙂

  92. Happy Anniversary! I’m a professional organizer so I love ALL your posts on organizing, but paperwork and kitchen items or odd-shaped things that don’t quite “fit” in certain areas, would probably be the most useful for helping my clients. Thanks! =)

  93. Happy blogaversary! I always appreciate posts about staying organized with kids — particularly clothing and toys.

  94. Congratulations! I like all the posts. Travel related organizing & organizing when you live with a messy person are 2 areas that interest me right now.

  95. I love posts on organizing bathroom stuff and kid stuff – that is where I am focused right now!!

  96. Congratulations! I love being a work at home mom! I’d actually love to see some more posts about staying organized while being a work at home mom, since I sometimes struggle with finding systems that work for me and my two (very energetic) little guys. 🙂

  97. Congratulations on 8 years! I am happy to see a thirty-one bag as part of the prize package 🙂 I would just like to continue seeing your blog posts each day. All organizing tips are greatly appreciated by me, Thanks!

  98. Congratulations! I really enjoy all of your posts, but need the input on organizing kids stuff the most. And I like posts about organizing the day to day life (not just rooms and spaces). Thanks for all that you do.

  99. Hi and congrats. I would love to see more on organizing when living in a small space. you probably have covered that before but I’m new to your blog 🙂

  100. Congrats to you! I had no idea there were others in the world like me……wanting to be really, really organized, uber organized even. I was happy when blogging became a “thing” and I knew I wasn’t the only one. I have 5 sons and we don’t always agree on what is clean and or organized, my definition is more stringent by far than theirs would be. But I have also had to learn that it’s okay to let go a bit, we have a somewhat happy medium so to speak. I would like ideas on organizing my craft room, as the boys are growing I am finding a little more time for things I want to do. Your blog is fun and informative, keep up the great work! Toodles, Barbi

  101. Happy Anniversary! I love your site and have probably read all 8 years worth of entries!!

  102. Laura, congrats!…My favorite posts are for closet organizing. I especially enjoyed the 31 days closet clean out challenge this past year. I still need reminders on how to keep the closet organized once it is clean and neat. IT seems entropy always takes over. Also. I need more help with organizing basement shelving for storage so the basement is more organized,as we prepare to finish the rest of our basement with a bathroom and bedroom. Thanks for such a great blog!!

  103. I really love all your posts about organizing! My next rooms to organize are my craft/sewing room, our daughters’ rooms and our master closets.

  104. Love reading your blog! I would like to see more on how to organize keepsakes and mementos.

  105. 8 years!! Congratulations! I would like to see posts about organizing memories – the things we keep that have been passed down to us, photos, videos, etc. Love your blog!

  106. I love your Menu Plan Monday’s – I need those to prompt me to plan for the week – thanks!

  107. Congratulations to eight years! I enjoy all your posts. Learning how to organize and let go of stuff. The stuff causes so much stress. Like all your guest posts too and get a lot of good ideas.

  108. Congratulations!! And many more years to come! I love all your posts about organizing anything and any room – can’t get enough! I’m an org junkie 😀

  109. Congrats! I’m pregnant with our first and would love more tips on how to organize my time…maybe efficiency…so that I can maximize my time with my family even though I’ll continue to work outside the home as a teacher,

  110. 8 years – woohoo! I need some ideas of how to help organize shared children’s rooms. We struggle with who is responsible for cleaning up what, and it is a huge hassle.

  111. I love trying to declutter and simplify. I’d love to see more posts on that! Congrats on 8 years!!!

  112. Happy Blogiversary! I’d love some tips on kitchen organisation, as I am coeliac and tend to bulk buy staples when I can. Also some tips on keeping my mad handbag in order (along with my emergency food stash in case I can’t find something I can eat whilst on the road).

  113. Congrats!! I’d love a segment on organization of the Kitchen Desk. Mine’s always a mess (I’m a pile-er) and since the desk is at a window, I can’t put shelves up. As our downstairs is somewhat an open floor plan, the mess is always in plain view. Ugh! I’d appreciate some ideas 🙂

  114. I would like to see more posts on kitchen, closet and jewelry organization.Small room organization too.

  115. I would like to see articles on organizing rooms in the home and kids stuff with photos. Even baby items would be great!

  116. I like the posts on organizing the kitchen. Would like to see organizing the garage. That is my biggest problem right now.

  117. Congrats! Love your blog. Enjoy reading about all home organizing so keep the info coming. I need all the help I can find not living in a cluttered, chaotic space:)

  118. I love reading your blog because I think you are inspiring, and I love your attitude.

  119. I’d like to see posts with non-conventional solutions for common organizing problems. For example, I have a tiny home with almost no room for clothes storage and I love scarves. I have no dresser and no room in the closet for them. Surely there’s a solution for organizing them that goes beyond putting them on a hanger or rolling them in a drawer.

  120. I need some advice on decluttering children’s book and mine’s, thanks

  121. I’d love to see articles on digital organizing, like how to organize all my photos or how to organize my documents.

  122. I love your posts! Trying to get everything in order and clear the clutter! Congrats on 8 years!

  123. I’d like to see more office related organizing and keeping down clutter from the kids such as their artwork and school papers.

    1. Would love to see more blogs about getting started when the job is too overwhelming, how to meal plan and how to budget.

  125. I LOVE all your posts! I have had the biggest struggle finding organizing products that I can my own, as in style in my own way. I have a country cottage look going on in my home and all the plastic and wood organizers I find just don’t fit in with my decor. So for future posts, I would love tips on decorating store bought organizers. Thanks!

  126. Thank you for the giveaway. This blog is awesome. I would love to see some pantry organization ideas.

  127. I would love to see quick tips and tricks to make stay at home mom’s lives easier 🙂

  128. Congrats! I am a teacher, and I would love tips on organizing all the stuff that has to go back and forth from home to school, (and not lose it on the way! 🙂 )

  129. Would love to see posts on car organization for the seasons (summer (beach), winter (cold)).

  130. Congrats on your 8 yr anniversary. I’d like to see more info on low-cost ways to keep paper clutter controlled– including mail, home receipts and kids school papers. Thanks

  131. Ok let me just say, when I first read this post a couple of hours ago, there were 92 comments (I didn’t comment at the time because I was just heading in to pick the kiddos from school). There are now 238 comments above me as I write this. What a testament to how many people read your blog on a daily basis, Laura! I truly do love all the content you provide and I very much enjoy being a part of your blog career. Congrats on your 8th anniversary! Such a victory. I hope that I can achieve that someday (*cough* note to self, you need to start the blog first! *cough*).

  132. I am interested in posts about organizing with a new baby as I am due in August with my third child and live in a VERY TINY house.

  133. Oh, let me just add that I LOVE the great products you’re offering in your giveaway. You’re very generous!

I’d love to see more posts on how to organize small spaces, how to provide more lighting to a room with little natural light and not make it look gross, organizing on a very small budget.

    Thanks!

  134. Love your blog! I love posts about organizing paper. I’m still trying to figure out how to keep it under control and working on a better filing system. Thanks for the giveaway!

  135. I need help in all areas! But would love to see stuff on paper organization. It never ends! Also office and minimizing these to areas. Thanks for sharing with us. Here’s to another 8 years of success!

  136. I’d like to know about any routines you have in place to keep you organized…I need things on autopilot. I have to think so much and be “on” all day at work that I have very little left in the evenings (and the mornings)!

  137. I love posts about paper organization and hiding organizing in cool decor. Most everything here is functional but not all of it is beautiful. I would love everything to be both! Thanks. Good luck.

  138. I will be working on a garage and tool organization project this year. I’d love to see products and DIY projects related to that kind of a project. Love the blog! Thanks!

  139. Congratulations on 8 years! I’m fairly new to your blog, but it has inspired me several times already. I’d love to see a post on how to organize a 1 bedroom apartment when you have kids. In other words small spaces with kids! Thanks for the giveaway and I look forward to reading more of your blog and getting more inspiration!

  140. I love the kitchen organization because I absolutely must have a clean kitchen. And it would be useful to have some tech info like organizing files, photos, etc because I’m not too tech savvy.

  141. I like the weekly menu posts. It helps with ideas for dinners that I have a time with. I would also like to know just where do you start with organizing. I look around and feel so overwhelmed with all of it. I always seem to have many projects going on at once and want to know how to just settle with one until finished. Congrats on all of your success.

  142. Great job! Creating quality content for 8 years is no small feat. Keep up the good work! I came on here today looking for good planning options for my first really busy year of homeschooling and possibly returning to work on the weekends. I love that your giveaway bag has exactly what I need. 🙂 I love pen and paper too but have been toying with the idea of caving to the pressure and getting a smart phone to act as a planner (among other things). Maybe that paper planner can save me from having my son constantly bug me to download Plants vs. Zombies.

  143. I love your blog as I, too, am an organizing junkie! I love to compare your suggestions with things I have done to see if there was a different way of doing it. What I would love to see is how you would organize 2 young boys shoes that need to be accessed daily but have a “spot”. My oldest son has Autism so everything having a “spot” is important for his routine. I look forward to your posts and will continue to look forward to comparing notes with you!

  144. Love, love, love, your website. I would be interested in daily work bag organization for a small business. thanks in advance.

  145. Congrats on 8 years! I love all organizational posts, especially kitchen and closed organization.

  165. How to organize in a very small kitchen with a tiny pantry. Well, I say pantry but it’s just a long cabinet with 2 doors. And, how to start a system for all the papers that come in the house each day i.e. mail, school papers. They just start to pile up!

  166. Thank you for your generosity: of ideas! time! giveaway goodies!

  183. Congrats to you!!! I love any organizing ideas for kids’ things. Books, clothes, toys, you name it!

  184. Eight years is amazing in blog land! Congrats! That said, I’m generally an organized person with messy people who live in my house. Under the disorder, the drawers and closets are organized, so I go thru on the weekend and fix everything. Lol. The one thing for which I haven’t yet found the right system, is paperwork and bills. I used to have a system that worked, but the bank changed the way the transactions downloaded into the (now discontinued) software and I’ve never found a replacement that worked as well.

I love how you talked about simplifying your life in this post and that really interests me along with any ideas to simplify/ organise your life!!! I’ve had several surgeries since September and my house has been out of my control for quite a while. I’ve been using the downtime to think about what I want for my and my families lives as I recuperate. I’m a YES gal and really want to say NO and get the house and my life back in order. I struggle with doing what others want me to do and what I want…..to be out of action so long has opened my eyes to those that count in my life. I struggle with paper and clutter. Thanks for your blog….it’s so much fun getting your emails and finding something else for me to consider doing. Keep up the good work and here’s to another 8 years!!!!

  318. Congratulations on 8 years! I am trying to organize my house starting with my craft area. The problem is my craft area is the first room you walk into the house, so I want it to look nice. It’s supposed to be the front living room/dining room but we actually sit in the back by the fireplace. Actually I have bad spinal problems with my neck and back so it is hard for me to do much at a time. So I need help as to where to start and do a little at a time. I plan on using your blog to help me. I see a lot of great ideas so it doesn’t surprise me that it’s been 8 years. It’s a great blog!

  331. Need help big time organizing my minivan. I also have absolutely no clue how to organize all the large toys (shopping cart, strollers, ball poppers, Little People sets, etc.) in my family room. We generally resort to just setting them in the corner on the floor.
