Menu Plan Monday ~ Dec 17/12

Hi all, welcome to the week before Christmas!  How how are you all feeling about that?  Ready, not ready?  I’ve got to do all my wrapping still but I love to get into that with a good cheesy Christmas movie or two.  You know the ones that make you cry every time?  Yep I can’t get enough them :)

I made some treats last week for all the teacher’s at my son’s school.  Just a little something to love on them a little bit.  I made a quadruple batch of the Carmel Popcorn Twists.  Have you tried these?  It’s the recipe on the back of the Old Dutch Popcorn Twist bag.  Oh my goodness they are sooooo good and addicting!  If you want an easy treat to make give these a try.

We also put together a teacher appreciation luncheon last week at my other son’s school.  Teachers are amazing people that give so much each and every day for our children.  I’m so thankful for all they do especially in light of Friday’s devastating tragedy in Newtown. My prayers go out to all those affected.  I’m so so sorry.

Please take some time to show your child’s teachers how much you care and appreciate their efforts.

We make that Old Dutch popcorn — oh, my goodness! We’ve found we can use 2 bags of puff corn to 1 recipe from the back of the bag; still uber tasty, but much less sweet. Speaking from a teacher’s perspective, that thankful lunch and gift, I’m sure, was a delightful blessing.

Planning menus for weekly meals is more challenging for me during the holidays. So much to do to get ready for Christmas, who has time to make meals! LOL

Good morning, Laura! I’m almost ready – just a few more gifts to wrap ( but with my wrapping system, it will only take about 15 minutes – http://www.anoregoncottage.com/2009/12/cottages-gift-wrapping-system/ ) and of course some more baking to do. :) I’ve never even heard of Old Dutch popcorn – I wonder if it’s available in our area? Sure sounds good, though…maybe I’ll have to look online!

What a sweet thing to do for all of the teachers. I’m a teacher and I know I would appreciate something like this. Last week was hectic for us so we have a few carry over meals. I’m thankful that my menu planning is done.

The lunch for the teachers looks lovely! That was very nice of you to do for them. :)

It was also very nice of you to feature my recipe for the crock-pot lasagna. :) I haven’t been blogging too much lately, and just noticed I had a lot of visitors from here. I hope that you really enjoyed it and that you had a wonderful holiday season. Thanks again!
