It seems when I like a product I take it to the extreme. I just can’t help myself. The 3M Command Adhesive Hook is that good and that fun. The best part about them is that they aren’t permanent so I don’t have to hesitate to put them up. I can put them up whenever I’m needing a little fix and then if I don’t like it or I get bored with it well I can just change my mind. Just like that. No fuss, no muss. I’ve never had one ruin the paint on my wall yet.
I know I’ve mentioned my adoration of this product before but this time I want to show you just how much I love them. No door is safe in this “house of freak”, they all get adorned with these beautiful little hooks eventually.
Take a look for yourself:
The back of my office door conveniently hides my bag fixation.
The back of my daughter’s bedroom door holds her robe and hoody.
In my daughter’s closet. She has her own bag fixation. It runs in the family what can I say and she even made the middle one all by herself!
Towels behind the bathroom door.
On the back of the door into my dining room/kitchen area are where my aprons conveniently hang. This door normally stays open so the aprons are usually hidden. I adore aprons and wear them all the time. The red one on top there is my new Flirty Everyday Housewife Apron from Etsy, so pretty!
I also use these hooks around the inside of my front windows at Christmas time to hang Christmas lights. Really, there are so many uses, the possibilities are endless especially since there are so many sizes and types.
You want to know what else just thrills me to no end, to know I’m not alone. Oh no I’m not. Jessica from Lackadaisical Motivation also posted about her love of these hooks here. L.O.V.E. Love it! She’s got some great ideas for them. This freak loves to have buddy freaks.
So how about you, where are you using 3M hooks? And if you aren’t, gulp, I hope this entices you to the other side 🙂

You’ve got me. I will be putting these on my list for next week’s shopping!
I have ONE. Yes, ONE. It is on my front door and it holds seasonal wreaths.
I never, ever thought to use them in the ways that you do and I am shaking my head now for not thinking of it!
I’m sold!

Sorry Laura…don’t like the look of them!
Glad they work for you!

I love Command hooks! I first saw them in my aunt’s house, and then I started using them. I used two of the utensil hooks to hang our TV antenna from the side of the entertainment center; they are in the coat closet for hanging baseball caps; I’ve used them to hang pictures and some knick knacks. When I want to hang something, my first thought is whether a Command hook will do the job!
Need A Nap2 says
We don’t have a coat closet so every member has a command hook on the wall by our kitchen door (the one we come in and go out) plus 2 more hooks – one for “cool” bags for groceries and one for my “school” bag. We also don’t have a linen closet so we have 3 hooks in the bathroom for towels. That’s it so far but I’m tempted by your post and the comments!! 🙂
Scratchin' the Surfa says
So you mean there’s a better way than hanging my apron over the pencil in the pencil cup attached to the fridge? Okay, they’re on my list too.
A Juggling Mum says
I love the 3M hooks too, we have them everywhere. Behind doors, on the side of a wardrobe to hang my girls school bags and they hang our pictures on the walls!
We also stuck some of the little cord hooks around our back fence to hang a string up to tie balloons to for my daughters birthday party!
The possibilities are endless 🙂

I love these too! I posted about it a while back, but there is one next to every single window in our house — serving as places to hang/wrap the blind cords so a curious toddler doesn’t wrap them around his neck. They’re perfect!
Becca says
We are huge 3M fans too! We use them everywhere! They’re brilliant!
Aimee says
We use the smaller 3M hooks to hang out stockings from the mantle-they are easy to hide with some garland draped over.
Sarah says
Oooh, that is amazing! I have seen those, but never thought to use them like you do!
Thanks for the ideas 😉
Melanie says
I love these hooks also. I hung two of them on the inside of our coat closet down low enough for my kids to hang up their own coats. They are 3 and 2 and they really enjoy retreiving and hanging up their own coats.
Stacey says
Yeah, I love them, too!
I use mine inside the door to my pots & pans cupboard. FOR THE LIDS! It is AWESOME! I will write about it soon and send you the link.
Rachel says
Your house looks like mine!! I love these hooks. I use them to hold bags, towels, aprons, bibs, pictures – just about everything. Bes part is if you change your mind (like every woman has the perogative to do), it’s easy to do.
Meshellyn says
Okay, this could not have come at a better time. I’ve been meaning to hang our framed family portrait over the mantel, which is brick. I don’t want to destroy the brick with a nail, so would this do the trick??? Perfect post today!

When you move out of a military house (PMQ) you must fill ALL the holes in the walls, returning the house to exactly what it looked like before you moved in. 3M hooks allow me to hang everything (towels, pictures, utensils, posters) everywhere (kitchen, bathroom, hallway, living room) and in about 5 minutes after the movers have left, I have all my hooks off the walls with NO HOLES TO FILL.
I LOVE 3M!
Rosanne says
I have them in my bathroom by the counter. They hold my flat iron, curling iron and hair dryer – yes love them too! 🙂
Katie says
Oh my gosh, I’m SOOO in love with these things too…we have three small ones on the interior of this coloumn by the door where we keep our keys. One BIG one on the right side of the front door where we hang the dog leashes and lots in the closets for belts, bags, hats, etc. Love them!

Tried to check out your blog to see your post about these great hooks but it said permission denied

Does anyone know where to get refill tapes for the hooks without buying new hooks? I’ve used mine for years since college (great for dorm rooms!) but after your allotted two strips, you have to go buy more hooks, which partly defeats the purpose.
Tina says
Oh my WORD! Thank you so much! I have four children and no clue what to do with their towels in our small bathroom! Preso Chango! 3M to the rescue. Going to take down that stupid space-hogging bar and put up the hooks this week! YES!!
sandy says
There’s my answer to all of my aprons that need to be hung! Behind the laundry room door is perfect! Woo hoo!
Laura says
Joyful, the refills can usually be purchased where the hooks are. Most hardware stores should have them. I also know Amazon carries them. Hope that helps!
N. & J. says
I don’t use them anymore but I do use hooks. I have a set of over the door hooks for just about door in the house and it works great.
Amiyrah says
Yes! I love them as well. I have 3 located under my vent hood for the stove. I keep a pot holder, my fry thermometer and my splatter guard hung up there. Its just enough space to have it no where close to the eyes and fire of the stove top but close enough that I don’t have to go to another part of the kitchen to get these things. L.O.V.E. them!
Mrs. Wilson says
Oh I LOVE those hooks! The newest use I found for them is for my loofa in the shower.

As if there wasn’t enough to love about these hooks in this post, check out all the finishes and different kinds of hooks:

Sorry – they don’t work for very long. I hung some very light pictures using them and after about 6 months, one of the pix came crashing down in the middle of the night. Scared the daylights out of me and broke the glass in the frame; not fun when you’re checking what the crash is while in bare feet! I threw the rest out.
Kelly says
Ohhh…I love this hooks too..but do you know about all of the other command adhesive products? I ADORE the picture hanging strips! I was just able to complete a HUGE project of hanging a LOT of family photographs in a hallway all without putting holes in the walls with nails, and with a LOT less stress!
You can see my wall project here if you are interested! http://sliceoflife.toldbyme.com/archives/category/things-i-make/
Milk in the Closet says
I use my 3M hooks at Christmas time to hang our stockings on the wall since we don’t have a mantle.
Also, I was at Target yesterday and saw some in a beautiful brushed nickle. I thought they were a nice alternative to the plastic ones, though pricier. Good for more decorative purposes!
Heidi says
Is there anything like this that you can use instead of a nail for hanging pictures? It takes me forever to get them hung up because I don’t want to put holes in the wall, so I put off deciding where to put them, since it is a “forever” decision!
jodi says
I know what you mean…these hooks are awesome! I use them in the kids closets more than anywhere else for hanging coats and hats where they can reach them. I also put them in the closet in the playroom for Savannah’s dress-up clothes. I am always amazed at how much weight they can hold and how long they stay in place!
Leanna says
Has anyone ever used one of these to hang a bag (such as a diaper bag or purse) on with contents in it?
Just wondering if they can hold heavier things.
Laura says
Hi everyone, one thing I should point out is that these hooks are all rated for different weights so it is important to buy the appropriate one for what you have to hang. I generally go with one even stronger than what I need just to be sure it will hold.
Also they also have more decorative styles if that is what you’d prefer although they do cost a little more.
Thanks for all your suggestions and links!
Lori says
Yep, I love ’em too! Right now, they are in the kitchen holding the dog’s leash and the menu calendar! Love them!!!
Jennifer, Snapshot says
First–love that green and black bag ya got 😉
Second–yes, I do use them, but only on the back of the hall closet–great for the kids’ jackets.
BUT thank you!!! I just broke my own towel rack, so now I will just stick a hook inside my bathroom linen closet. Hooray!!
Also, you might hate me, but I think I bought them at 75% off at the grocery store. They had them after Christmas as “Christmas decor.” I bought several packs, but I should have bought more.
Jessica says
Hey! Thanks for the shout out!
I’m going to post efficiency tips throughout the next week, so be sure to stop by 🙂

Ohh… a new must-have.

I use those in my classroom too! We are in for a major organizing overhaul this weekend. Wish me luck.

I love those hooks. I have been buying so many of them lately. Did you know they even have fancy silver ones? I almost bought some for my bathroom, but they were almost $10 so I stuck with the white ones.
Sister Brenda says
Great post I read down but didn’t see how much they cost? and how many do you get in a package? I’ve never seen or heard of them guess I don’t get out much. lol

I have two of them on the cabinets beside the stove. That’s where I hang the recipes I’m using from bulldog clips. I can even hang a magazine from there too. So far I just have the plastic ones, but now that they’ve come out with the nice metal ones I guess I should upgrade since they look a bit nicer. I can’t really say that the plastic ones look that great, but it puts the recipes at eye height and keeps them out of the way and leaves what little counter space I’ve got free and I don’t have to worry about my cookbook falling – which it kept doing when I would use those cookbook holders. Now I just take the time to type it up and print it out. (Thanks to Menu Plan Monday I do that anyway most of the time. *GRIN*)

PS: I just posted a pic at my blog, not a great pic since it’s a cell phone pic but it’s a pic.

I love the hook idea. I can think of a few spots that I could use them. Thanks for all your great organizing ideas.

I didn’t know that they worked so well. And what great ideas for usage. Thanks!!
And I just love your daughter’s bag that she made!

just went and bought some on amazon! can’t wait for the mail lady next week!

These little hooks ARE awesome! We’ve had them in our shower for several years now, and they are still holding strong the water and all!
Thank you so much for visiting my blog. I know you get so many visitors…I appreciate so much that you took the time to stop in for a look!

Those aprons were awesome. I had to order myself one! thanks for the link!

I feel like there are so many things I have been missing out on. I had no idea these were so strong and usefull. No idea!
Sarah says
Oh yeah I use them! I have the bathroom ones (moisture-resistant adhesive) holding up the kids’ potty seat ring on the side of the over-the-toilet organizer, 2 more on the back of each bathroom door for towels, 2 I’m getting ready to hang in DDs’ room (3 y.o. & 5 y.o.) for their pajama bags (tote bag to stuff PJs & stuffed animal to sleep in, to avoid the 7:50 p.m. mad dash to find them), and I too use them at Christmas. I use the small ones to hang our Christmas stockings on our wood mantle so that it doesn’t damage the woodwork.
I like that they sell the refill stickies so I don’t have to keep paying for hooks over & over when I move stuff.
Isabeau says
The light plastic ones are so plain and the pretty metal ones are so heavy! If they made pretty plastic ones (not basic white, and maybe a fancier shape) I would use them more than I do.
Marcia Francois says
We don’t get these in South Africa – after you posted the last time, I emailed them – Absolutely NO reply. Terrible, isn’t it?
Esp since I LOVE hooks and I’m forced to use the normal ones that leave their white gunk behind when you remove them.
Jason says
Great idea. I’ll be buying some of these. I remember using them years ago (not necessarily 3M brand,) but having them fall off. I’ll have to try again.
Sarah says
My daughter is being tube fed after heart surgery, and we use the 3m hooks to hold her feeding bag set after washing – nothing else was high enough and its just not possible to screw a hook in. The heavy duty ones can hold a 500 ml kangaroo bag high enough to gravity drip into the sink, and then high enough to let ALL the last drops drain onto a towel without touching the floor.
Since the bags are hideously expensive, washing them is super – I can get them clean enough to use one every 5 days instead of 1 a day!
( They also hold my dishtowels, loofah in the shower, kids coats, all my slings and mei tais… )
Megan@Disorder2Order says
Love it! I use them for hanging frames on the wall too (the strips, not the hooks).
Summer says
OMG, I love these little hooks. Especially around the holidays. Our mantle is taken up by the mounted flat screen TV, so I used them to hang the stockings around the sides of the fireplace. I used one of the small ones with the hinged hook to hang a mistletoe ball from the entrance archway. 😀 And this afternoon, some larger ones will be going up on the brick around our front windows for some pretty icicle lights.
I swear, the adhesive sticks on any surface and will leave nary a mark when removed. It’s like it was never there. These are perfect for any household, but even more so for apartment dwellers who don’t want to pay a premium for putting holes in the walls.
3-Meister says
I hung my little nephew from one.. and that was just the small hook! I intend to invest in more products similar! Thank you 3M!
Christy says
I love the command hooks that are waterproof. I bought a really cute Boon frog bath toy holder but the sticky strips that held it in place stopped working within a few days. The waterproof command hook has been in place for 2 years now and the toy holder is full of toys. Love it.

So I realized I might be a *closet buddy freak* for you when I noticed how excited I get when I see updates to your blog on the side of my blog. I am a sucker for any organization tips and I just LOVE LOVE LOVE any post you do! We just moved into a new house which is not glamorous but it’s my *dream* house so I am determined to keep it looking nice and organized. I can’t wait to pick me up some of these 3M hooks. One problem I am excited to use this as a solution for is the downstairs (main bathroom) where the towel hook is too high for my 3 and 5 yr olds so the towel ends up laying on the floor half the time since it’s a pedestal sink with no room for a towel. I will now be hanging an easier to reach towel on the back of the door with one of these. Oooh the other possibilities are endless. Thanks for the org excitement for my day!! Keep on posting!!

Hello fellow Canadian Apron Lover. Was reading your post about utilizing behind the door space (which I currently don’t do). I see you love aprons so I wanted to let you know that Brianna http://www.hearthmanagement.com/2009/03/dress-for-success-and-giveaway-its-real.html
has a super apron giveaway and today is the last day!
I’ll be having one in April too. I had planned mine for this week but thought since Brianna had one going on – I’d wait!

I bought a number of these for my son when he moved into an apartment this summer. He was told he could use tiny nails to hang things but they are plaster walls which usually crumble around the nail. The command strips are perfect for hanging everything.
I will be getting some for holiday hanging after my recent remodel. I don’t want nails all over again. Thanks for the additional ideas.
