Hey there friends, this season is a tough one for many. I’m so sorry if you are going through hard times right now. I’m very sad that my daughter isn’t able to come home to celebrate Christmas with us. I was so looking forward to seeing her as it’s been way too long. But we are going to try and make the best of it and rely on Facetime as much as possible. It’s just going to be so different for so many of us. However your Christmas looks this year, I hope you are able to enjoy a little laughter here and there. Whenever I am feeling down I always find laughter to be the best pick me up.
Yesterday I got together with some girlfriends on Zoom to do a Secret Santa gift exchange. Even though we couldn’t be together for this event, as we normally are, it was just so good to see smiling faces and to share a few laughs. One of the girls captured this screen shot of me. I needed that laugh so badly! Now every time I look at this picture, it makes me smile all over again at the silliness of it. It’s the gift that keeps on giving :). Maybe my dorkiness will make you smile too.
Another thing I’m doing this season to bring some joy to my days is to make other people smile. Because nothing makes me feel more alive than to see a smile burst forth on someone’s face. And smiles are just so contagious. The main way I’m getting to see those smiles is through something a girlfriend and I call Reindeer Runs. These runs began completely by accident back in November.
We were heading out to an outdoor visit with a friend and decided to wear our matching reindeer onesies to stay warm. We found these reindeer onesies at our local thrift store last December and of course had to buy them! Well that initial visit in our reindeer onesies started something special that snowballed from there. It’s amazing how much joy two silly reindeers can bring to others when they see us looking this ridiculous. We’ve been going out to friends and some businesses every week since.
Oh and did I mention we even do a song and dance? Oh yes we do! If you know the Veggie Tales, we came up with a little jingle to the tune of “We are the Pirates Who Don’t Do Anything”. It goes like this:
We are the reindeer that like to spread cheer. We just go out and sing and dance. And even though it’s been a crappy year, we’d just like to give you some Christmas cheer!
I also found little wooden reindeer ornaments that we give out in cute reindeer gift bags along with a card. My friends daughter gave us the reindeer names Lancy and Tancy.
And to keep everyone safe we wear FUN reindeer face masks. Yep totally ridiculous and yes totally worth it!
When you bring joy to others, you bring yourself so much joy as well. It’s given me something to look forward to each week and if I can make others smile by being silly, I’m all in. I’d love to figure out a way to do something similar all year long.
It’s all part of my movement to spark smiles everywhere which you can read all about HERE.

Love this post AND the fabulous gift tags. I saw your post on bloglovin’ but, try as I might, I could not get it to direct me to your site. I had to type in the address instead after several other attempts. There’s probably a way but they’re not making it easy. I’m sure a lot of bloggers miss out on comments due to this. Anyway, I don’t often have time to comment- let alone hunt down a blog- but had to get over here to tell you how much I appreciated this post. So, THANKS!

Thanks for stopping by Louise. I’m sorry Bloglovin is making things difficult for you but I so appreciate the effort of you coming over. I’ll have to check it out to see if I can figure out what is going on over there.

I would like to have your free printable gift tags but I can’t get them to line up with my printer. Could you please help me? I clicked on them but it didn’t work and I don’t know how else to get them.

Hi Karen, I’m so sorry you are having trouble. Are you able to open them into the PDF file from Dropbox? Once the PDF file is open they should print no problem. I just tried it again to double check on my end and it works for me no problems. I’m not sure what else to suggest 🙁

I love the reindeer onesies.
I also think your hair looks great.
I’m trying to grow mine out. It’s so many different colors it’s driving me crazy. It’s white, grey and brown.
If it would decide on one color I would be happy. ?
Hope you and yours have a happy, safe and healthy Christmas.
