Menu Plan Monday ~ Nov 12th

Another week is upon us! Last week I had a few mix ups in my menu…forgot to defrost the meat one day and then was out doing errands all day on Friday and didn’t get the pizza crust into the bread machine on time. So I did have to change a few things around and then also move the pizza to Saturday but because I don’t normally plan the weekends it all just worked out in the end. The whole wheat pizza crust was delicious and I loved that it could be done in the bread machine. Whenever possible I always prefer to feed my family whole wheat bread and pasta and of course brown rice. It is just so much healthier and better for you. I especially enjoy warm fresh homemade whole wheat bread straight out of the bread machine…..yummy!!

Tomorrow is Remembrance Day but the grocery store will be open so I am still getting my groceries done first thing. This is one habit that I will not break as it sets the tone for my entire week. Of course it’ll probably end up costing me more because I’ll have all three kids with me, you know how that goes!

So someone asked last week where they could find the Menu Plan Monday banners and guidelines. You’ll find all the info you need on the MPM tab above right underneath my header. Unfortunately the banners in there are small at the moment and don’t copy very nicely. I am working on it though. I’d like to make it real easy and add the codes in a nice little box underneath each one like I’ve seen around the blogosphere but I still have yet to figure out how to do that. Sorry! For now right clicking on the banner in any of my actual MPM posts and saving to your hard drive is probably the easiest way to do it. If you haven’t had a chance to read the guidelines I ask that you please take a look before leaving your link. Also many of you are still linking your MPM post to my old blog. Could you please change that to orgjunkie.com. Thanks so much!!

So our menu for the week goes like this:

Monday: Fajitas
Tuesday: Slow Cooker Chicken Dinner
Wednesday: Slow Cooker Corny Chili
Thursday: Mix and match leftover day
Friday: Pork Lo Mein

Have a terrific week!

  1. Your week looks great – and thanks for hosting!

One of the things I love about meal planning is the flexibility it allows you. When you forget to defrost the meat, you just grab the meal for a different night (after you put the meat in the fridge 🙂 and you know you’re all set.

  2. Thanks for the slow cooker recipes. The hubby has been helping with the cooking since he retired, and both of us appreciate recipes that can be made ahead and left alone for a while.

I told the cashier at the grocery store about this site, and she passed the word around the store! Seems there are a lot of women out there who need a reason to plan. Thank you for providing it!

  3. Both slow cooker recipes look delicious! Have a wonderful week, and always, thanks for hosting MPM! Each week I join in, try to comment on several other blogs, but for some reason I always forget to leave you a comment. Weird, right? lol
    Anyway, have a wonderful week!

  4. I am so glad you host this each week. Things have gone so much more smoothly since I started having a menu plan for the week. I love the new site …. the other one always took forever to load and this one comes up right away for me.

  5. The new site looks great! The pork lo mien really sounds good to me today.

You would be so proud of my new music storage system for all of the kid’s sheet music for 5+ instruments. I’ll have to post it just for you. I felt like a mini organizing junkie! You inspired me to get that all together. Thanks!

    Always, thanks for hosting!

  6. Looks like it’s going to be a good-eatin’ time around your house this week.

This is my first week! Thanks for hosting this!

  7. Laura thank you for hosting MMP along with all the wonderful helpful org. tips and suggestions you share. You are amazing. I love visiting your site. One of my fav.

  8. Planning one’s menus for the week is healthy and saves you money, for this family.
I get my husband and son involved by asking for their contributions. Our menu plan is really a family project.
    Have a Happy Veteran’s Day.

  9. Everything looks yummy Laura! I am going to try your LoMein recipe soon – I bought the noodles last time I was at the store.

  10. Thanks for organizing this. I am trying to get more organized with my meals so I can:

    1) Feed my family more healthy options
    2) Save money
    3) Feel calmer as I approach meal time knowing in advance what I am preparing
    4) Feeling like I accomplished something every day!

  11. Just wanted to say thanks- I’m new to this blog and I love finding so many dinner menus in one place. Hopefully soon I’ll submit my own! Thanks for hosting this!

  12. I’m giving it a shot this week! We’re usually all over the place come dinner time, so I’m hoping that shopping for the week will cut back on the chaos. Wish me luck!

  13. This is crazy – 223 menus. Looks like this is more popular than WFMW – good for you, Laura, but not for me 🙁

I hardly get any traffic when the memes are too big – strange that. I think people feel too overwhelmed (I know I do so I just pick 10 and visit those). Whereas with a smaller meme (like tackle it Tuesday, there are not a lot of people so they visit every member – and again, I do the same, so I could be wrong)

I’d love to know what you think. Have a lovely day!!!

  14. I have actually completed a list for this week as well… thanks to your help. Otherwise I wouldn’t have gotten motivated and been scrambling around the house figuring out what to make each afternoon.
