For me organizing is all about making life easier. Truth is I’m lazy. There I said it. That’s right, just plain lazy. That and I hate to WASTE time. Take today for example. I was in the middle of making muffins when my hubbie decides to ask me where we keep the extra suitcase tags and this after he has already spent half an hour looking for them. I looked at him and said well duh, in the extra suitcase tag container of course, I mean doesn’t everyone have one..lol. I immediately went over to the drawer I keep them in and pulled them out. It totally surprised him….why it would surprise him I have no idea…..and why he wouldn’t just ask me first is BEYOND me. Anyway my point is, if I would have had to stop what I was doing to spend half an hour looking for those darn things I would not have been too happy. I mean I was making muffins people….a rare occurrence in my house…..lets face it we all have our gifts and baking is NOT mine…I need to pay attention or I’m likely to leave out the flour or something like that.
Life is just so much easier when you know where everything is. There isn’t a box, tote, cupboard, closet or drawer where I don’t know what is inside (except of course here
, yikes!). So the time it takes me to set up my systems is well worth it because of the time saving factor in the long run. Just imagine what you could do with all your extra free time…..would it be worth it to you? Only you can decide.Orginally published July 26, 2006

And I make muffins all the time. I’ve got this great recipe that’s only got about four ingredients and the kids love them. I make a double recipe on the weekends, and we’re good for kid breakfasts for the next week. Let me know if you’d like the recipe.
(And I do this because I’m lazy, too.)

I hear ya! I still have a ways to go to get up to par with your organizational skills. It never ceases to amaze me that when others share about organizing things there is always something new to learn. The only place that really needs refining is our filing cabinet. :0) But I’m sure I’ll still find tips on how to refine our organizational skills around here. :0)

You are an inspiration. When I have the time I am going to read all of your blog as I am moving and I would love it if my next house had a system like yours has. Right now I have no idea where to find anything.

In my unorganized way, I usually know where everything is. The problem is: the rest of the family doesn’t!
I’m going to do a post on organization and it will be a MUST to refer people to your site.
You are amazing!
Happy Mother’s Day!

I TOTALLY know what you’re talking about! I absolutely hate wasting time looking for something when if I had just put it away in the right place last time I used it I wouldn’t have to be looking for it!
BTW, I tagged you. Go check out my blog if you want to play. Enjoy!

Extra suitcase tags? You are kidding, right? You are one amazing woman. Extra luggage tags for us are those paper ones at the airline baggage check-in.
You come over to my place for muffins any time, okay?

Lol! I love baskets, I have a basket addiction, we have no more surfaces that a basket will fit on yet I drool over baskets in the shops…want-more-baskets!
So I feel you have inspired me, I need a basket for my extra suitcase tags, also need to buy some suitcase tags to put in said basket 🙂
