It’s time to get the word out! The next 30 Day Organizational Challenge begins soon on Tuesday, April 3rd! I am so excited!! From what I’ve read many of you are feeling spring fever already and are well on your way to starting some spring organizing. Maybe some of you want to but are lacking the motivation. Now is your chance to push up those sleeves and dig in. Do you have an area in your home that has been bothering you, that you have been wanting to get organized for awhile, that you are tired of looking at, that has been stressing you out….now is the time to do something about it!
The challenge is to organize one area or room in your home and at the end of the 30 days post before and after pictures on your blog with a brief description of how you got from point A to point B. This time though I’m making things a little more fair and having two catergories. One for small areas (drawer, closet, armoire, etc) and one for bigger areas (entire room). It is up to you which area you decide to organize and enter but you can only enter into one category.
There are many reasons why our spaces get over run with clutter but whatever the reason it doesn’t have to stay that way if you don’t want it to. Let’s make some new habits. I am not here to judge and my hope is no one else will either. With that said on April 3rd I’ll put up a Mr. Linky to give you the opportunity to post your “before” pictures in advance although I won’t make this mandatory. It is nice to know who is participating though in order to offer support and encouragement to you. Also accountability is a huge motivator and so are prizes!! What would a challenge be without prizes. These details are still being worked out so you will have to stay tuned for further information!
Please help me spread the word! Feel free to grab the banner above or in my sidebar to use on your own blog. I’d really appreciate it!
Warning:
Participating in this challenge may cause you to become addicted to organizing and have the desire to do more in order to experience the “high” over and over again. You may find yourself constantly searching for your next “fix”….once “hooked” you will become a “junkie” and do everything possible to get others addicted along with you. Believe me, I know from experience…don’t say I didn’t warn you!
Let’s get organized!!!

Yay!!! I’m so excited! Now I need to figure out what area I’m going to do (have a few ideas) and save up for some organizing stuff 😀

Laura –
I so desperately need to take this challenge. It will be just that – a challenge, but if you can keep on me, I think I can do it.

This is soooo needed in my house! I will look around and figure out where I am going to start this weekend. I can’t wait!
dcrmom says
I’m in! My master bedroom closet is a STY. It’s long overdue for organization, but Hubs and I have been avoiding it for, well, for 16 months, the whole time we’ve lived here, lol!!
~Betty~ @ On the Journey to Victory says
I’m in for the challenage. I have 2 areas I’m thinking about.
Thanks for hosting this. You are wonderful!

house full of love says
I believe this would be good and the challenge will actually possess me to get a job done. I believe it will be my room but it may be my daughters room or my sons room. The rooms that are visited often are typically organized but it is those areas where only certian people enter that get neglected

I am in for the basment … more info here… http://mjpuzzlemom.blogspot.com/2007/03/30-day-organizational-challenge.html

Glad you’re doing it again, even though I flunked last time! :v)
Maybe I can get my act together this time!

I am so happy to have found your site! Although I am planning a lot of organizational challenges for myself to prepare for my 1st Annual Spring Cleaning….I will choose one to document for your challenge! I am so excited for this motivation!
Lori says
All right, I am in! Some accountability is exactly what I need to get my daughters’ bedroom closet organized.
Thanks for the motivation!
mom of 2 says
Ok, I’m so in! I’ve got a junk cabinet in my kitchen that is a catch all for whatever is on the counter top and I need to find a place for in a hurry…only it ends up staying there and never finding a real home. I’ve been wanting to do something about it, but like you said, am lacking in motivation. I’ll be looking for the linky and have my before picture ready!
The Lazy Organizer says
Yay, I’m so excited!!! I’m going to do a bedroom closet this time!
Thea says
Alright, here’s a question for you. I’d like to participate, but what needs organizing is, well, ME! I’m a horrible procrastinator and have recently become obsessed with this thing called “blogging” (maybe you’ve heard of it). So how can I join your challenge without an actual physical place that needs to be organized??
Old Fashioned Girl says
I’ll definately play. I’ve been procrastinating about clearing out the larder for months.
Beth/Mom2TwoVikings says
I’ll be there. Button up at my bloggy home now. The kitchen closet (small) and basement (large) are my two possibilities. Thank you, thank you, thank you! *wink*
Mikki says
Love the warning at the end. I’m already becoming addicted. I have a list going on things I need to get to organize better.
Can’t wait to join the challenge!
Lucy says
I actually NEED this. We just put our house and land on the market and I’ve got to get this place ready to show and ready to move out of. Count me in!!!
Barb says
I don’t have many areas that are bothering me, but my bookshelves are making me nuts. It’s hard for me to consider books “clutter” but they’re falling off the shelves. It’s definitely time for me to bite the bullet, go through it and make a huge literary donation to a local nursing home.
Either that, or ask Rob to build me MORE bookshelves. 🙂
Beth/Mom2TwoVikings says
For various reasons, I’m starting a little early. Today, we all woke up motivated and in good moods so I packed up the kids to play downstairs (into a somewhat safe area for a 1 and 3 yr old! LOL), took some “before” shots and began tackling the basement.
We spent about 2-3 hours down there and I got a nice chunk done plus lots of misc junk to toss at Tuesday’s garbage pick-up!
One push done…about 5 or 6 more needed to go! LOL
Jerzy says
I’m so ready for this. With the Menu Plan Monday – I’m back on track with loosing weight with WW. Now with this challenge – perhaps the gym that’s been dismantled in the middle of my office since we moved in here 2 years ago will finally get put together – and I can have guests in my office space again !!! Thanks so much for hosting this !!
Faerylandmom says
Hmmm…I’d like to participate…I probably should…what to do???
Awww, what the heck? I need to go for it. I have two whole rooms needing it – my garage & our computer/craft room.
Do I need to choose just one room for the contest? Can’t wait for the details!
Marcia says
Laura, I am in.
I share my study with my husband and there are still 10 boxes from when we moved into this house 13 months ago.
We saw a beautiful bookcase on Saturday too and I told him we could get it once that room was cleared – I’m not having more clutter. So this is perfect timing and that will be our reward when we get it all done!!

This is definitively a great idea. I’ll do my best to rise to the challenge!

I need this so much! I just hope I can stick to it. Inspiration needed!
Aimee "Roo" says
How fun! I am going to have a hard time picking between our laundry room and our master closet. I may have to do both just for kicks. 🙂
Megan says
I’m totally in too. One word: basement. Ugg!
Wendy says
Ican’t wait! This will be first time to participate.
Kari Plevan says
I have been reading your blog for quite awhile now, but I’ve only mainly been an observer. No comments, menu plans, etc. But, I’m in on this one! I found the perfect project too. Our huge closet that is full of things that you would think would make it organized (plastic bins, drawers, etc.)…but it has become a catch-all…scary!
THANKS! This will be great!
Jennifer says
Ha ha ha–addicted. I don’t know if I’d go that far, but yes, satisfaction at a new more useful space is a really great thing. I think I have a spot in mind that I can’t seem to conquer, but I’ll keep thinking about it.
And I will vouch for you. You don’t judge, you just encourage!
Mandy says
I can’t wait to join this challenge. I’ll be logging the progress at my domestic blog http://devinedomesticgoddess.blogspot.com/!
sara - The Estrogen Files says
Ooooookay. I’m in. I have several areas that will qualify. Which to pick…
Kimberly says
I’ve been looking forward to this like crazy! Can’t wait to start. Will pop that thingummy onto my page as soon as I have a chance!
Amy says
I’m in! I think I’m going to try to finally get this room (computer room) completely organized. I put your banner up on my Flybaby blog today.
Multi-tasking Mommy says
Oh, I should SO be taking this challenge!!! I am organized at heart. I can organize really well. My flaw is how to keep everything organized and well….right now, to find the time to organize (an excuse many of us use, I’m sure).
Anyhow, I wanted to let you know that I want to participate, but won’t.
My current project that I don’t want to get distracted from is to sort through my family’s filing cabinet. I am getting it so stinkin’ organized, it is going to feel SO good! I have all new file folders, labels and whole new sorting system–it will make it easier to purge older papers that aren’t needed anymore on an annual basis….oh, I need to get off the computer and go do it right now!!!
Mamacita Tina says
Read this post and knew exactly what I want to tackle: the DEN! Thank you, it might become more than a storage room now. I’m very excited and feeling motivated.
Ha, love the warning.
lauren says
As I lay here in my bed and look around my unkempt bedroom, I need look no further for the project to tackle. I could enter both categories, if it were allowed… the dresser or the whole room. Anyway, I remember once upon a time, a very long time ago, when dh and moved into our first apartment. I actually kept our bedroom ofairly clean, the dresser top organized enough so lighting candles would not be a fire hazard. Yes, it’s time for me to accept your challenge.
Coach J says
Wow! I like knowing someone is holding me accountable. I’ve got this home office that I can never get organized to the point I feel satisfied! I’ll take you up on it.
Bookfool says
My entire house needs organizing, but I’ll think about which room is in the most desperate need and make a choice by the 3rd. Thanks for hosting the challenge!
Summer says
Count me in! My poor house is so unorganized it would probably cause you to overload. LOL
Suburbaknitsta says
count me in… sounds like fun I think I have the perfect spot in mind.
Midlife Mom says
I’m in big time! My sewing room is a disaster. I took photos today for the before. I will disgrace the family name by posting them but oh well..it could be worse. Thanks for motivating me!
Tracy says
I need this challenge so badly you have know IDEA!!!! I used to be organized! Now I have too much STUFF!! I am miserable because of all the stuff that is around me. The clutter and chaos is making me miserable. A miserable mom makes for an unhappy family. I am totally up for the challenge. I will have a short time period due to a trip for a week, but I am a procrastinator at heart anyway. Game on! I can’t wait for the link. Now to decide were to start?! I should just take pictures of my rooms and air my dirty laundry on my blog and have the readers decide! I know it will be a room and not just a drawer. I need to think big but work on babysteps throughout the journey! Thanks!!
~Anna~ says
I am SO in! My bedroom is definitely a fire hazard! Lol, I hate to think of what might happen! I tend to get far too discouraged far too soon! =)
