This was an exciting project for me to take on because I have been blessed….considerably! Let me explain. There are 6 years difference between my two boys and because I didn’t think we were having any more children I unfortunately didn’t keep any of my first son’s clothing…..so I was starting from scratch. That is until I received this wonderful surprise from a very good friend of mine:
Boxes and bags of hand me down clothing! Yeah! It was definitely a happy dance moment. Wow! I can’t tell you how grateful I am. I didn’t realize though until I got it all out of the boxes how much clothing there really was…..enough to last my son the next two years I’m sure!
My tackle of course was to find space for all these clothes. Luckily I had just recently taken out the spare dresser from the closet in the baby’s room and so I had a spot to put a couple of totes. The shirts in my son’s next size were hung up and the pants were put away into the little three drawer end table you can see in the picture below. Clothes that he still has a ways to go before fitting into went into the two totes.
It was a big job but one I was so thankful to do! A big thank you to my wonderful friend…you know who you are and I love ya!
To see what others are tackling this week head on over to 5 minutes for mom!

What a blessing! We had the same thing happen when our daughter was born and we used the clothes for years to come! Great way to get it organized.

Unexpected things like that are so amazing! I have a girl and a boy, so hand me downs don’t happen unless we get them from someone else, which does happen occasionally and it’s such a blessing!

Good Luck today Laura! I know you can do it! I’ve posted some more pics to my blog about cleaning up my scrapbook room. I’m really trying to get it organized!LOL

If I had to do all that it would take me a week! No kidding! It takes me a LONG time to clean.

That is a blessing! We have 9 years between our sons. My SIL passes on her sons clothes to my littlest guy. It is such a wonderful gift to us that she does that. You are better than me though. The bag of clothes she passed to us that he will wear next year is still stuffed in a garbage bag in the back of his closet. EEK! 🙂

An amazing blessing – that’s wonderful – I too have kids far apart in age – sadly though I did save her cloths – I have a boy now LOL! Great tackle!

My cousin had a baby boy six months before my son was born. She kept my son clothed for two years until the boys caught up to each other in size. It was great!

Now that was nice! Looks all organized and ready to wear!

how wonderful! I received hand me downs when my son was smaller – now he is taller than all the kids that are two years older than he is though – so that ended! LOL
what a blessing!
great tackling too! 🙂

What a great tackle and what an amazing friend. I have a friend like that. She has 1 son and 2 daughters. I get all her boys clothes. She’s a shop-a-holic, and I get tons of stuff, sometimes with the tags still on. I love her for it. It is such a help. I’m trying to pay it forward by passing along to someone else.

That’s just so great! Both the handle over clothes and the tackle to put them somewhere.
I love handle over clothes, but maybe that’s because I never gets any… *s*
