I’m participating in Org Junkie’s 28 Day Organizing Challenge with @orgjunkie during the month of Feb.  Wish me luck!  http://tiny.cc/KYtro

The Twitter hashtag we’ll use for this event will be #28DOC

This year I have asked my good friend and fellow Professional Organizer, Tanna from Complete Organizing Solutions to help me select the winners.  Be sure to visit her site throughout the month for helpful organizing tips and encouragement.

The Official 28 Day Organizing Challenge Rules:

  • During the month of February participants have 28 days to organize either a whole room and/or small space in their home
  • You must have a blog to participate
  • You can enter multiple spaces if you’d like but participants will be asked to create a separate blog post for each entry
  • Two Mr. Linky posts (one for small space and one for whole room) will go up on the morning of March 1st for participants to link up to with a post showcasing BOTH their before and after pictures of the newly organized space.  Participants will also be asked to answer a few questions about the process they followed.  Questions can be found here.
  • Entries that don’t include both before and after pictures and/or question summary will be eliminated.
  • The challenge end Mr. Linky cut off will be March 2nd at 12:00 pm PST.
  • Judges will be specifically looking at overall transformation, creative use of space, storage solutions that work and overall experience.

Overall TransformationA well organized, uncluttered, clearly defined and efficient space that lends itself to easy maintenance.

Creative Use of SpaceUsing creative solutions to allow you to maximize your space and create zones in a new and manageable way.

Storage Solutions that WorkUsing storage solutions that allow you to establish boundaries and limits and contain “like with like”.

Overall ExperienceThe process that got you to the uncluttered space mentally and physically.

Sidenote:  My philosophy on organizing is that it doesn’t need to cost big bucks to do it and so you’ll notice that $$ spent is not even a factor in the judging criteria.  Many a creative storage solution can be found for next to nothing.  Be creative, think outside of the box and let your organizing imaginations run wild :)

Good luck everyone!!

My guest room is less than welcoming at this point (I mean, I guess you ‘could’ sleep in there…it would just be REALLY uncomfortable and you might have a hard time hoisting yourself onto the piles of junk!). I’m an extremely organized person, so it’s about to drive me bananas!! Thankfully, this challenge will be just what I need to kick it into high gear! Thanks!

I am HOPING to be able to participate in this challenge. I just HAVE to be able to make the time to do it, but I too have a “spare room” that is a combination of a guest room, computer room, and my scrapbooking room, and am in desperate need of some direction in there. Can’t wait to start!!!

Ok, I’m in. I’ve been working on purging “stuff” from the house. We have a “computer room” that has become the catch-all for everything. I want to turn it into a family room for the kids. I’m embarrassed to post my before pictures, but if that doesn’t motivate me, nothing will!

My craft room / office is aweful. I just took photos and it looks much worse in the photos! ACK! It seems to be a “catch-all” for anything that is mine, or that I must take care of “later”. We just know to put that in Mom’s room. Eeeek.

Thank you for hosting this challenge. I am looking forward to the end of February and my nice clean, organized craft / office room. Best wishes to everyone!
