Challenge
Are you ready to make a change? Are you sick of your clutter owning you? Then join Org Junkie’s 29 Day Organizing Challenge taking place February 2012.
During the month you will concentrate your efforts on one chaotic and cluttered room and work to transform it into an organized and peaceful space instead. You do need a blog for this challenge as you will be required at the end of the month to link up your post showing off your before and after pictures. Don’t have a blog? Consider starting one, it’s easy to do!
As with previous challenges, I won’t require you to link up the before picture of your space at the beginning of the month. It’s a hard thing to do and people are reluctant to put it out there that they have a room screaming for help. However it can be amazing motivation to share your plans and pictures at the beginning of the month so the option (and linky) will be there on February 1st for those that are brave enough to link up. I highly recommend it! Accountability can make all the difference between success and failure.
Timeline:
Here is a fun calendar to help you keep on track of your project:
Feb 1st ~ before picture link up and welcome
Feb 10th ~ 1st progress link up
Feb 17th ~ 2nd progress link up
Feb 24th ~ 3rd progress link up
Mar 1st ~ Reveal Day to link up both your before AND after pictures
Remember:
- don’t start before taking before pictures
- this challenge is NOT about judging each other. It’s about encouragement and support. Nastiness is not tolerated here.
- I have run this challenge here before and have been witness to some amazing success stories not only in physical spaces but also in the aha moments as well. It was pretty awesome to see and be a part of. I KNOW you can do this.
Prizes:
A FANTASTIC list of prizes you are not going to believe. See below for full details!

Official Challenge Rules:
- During the month of February participants have 29 days to organize a whole room(s) in their home
- You must have a blog to participate
- You can enter multiple spaces if you’d like but participants will be asked to create a separate blog post for each entry
- A linky post will go up on the morning of March 1st for participants to link up to with a post showcasing BOTH their before and after pictures of their newly organized space. Participants will also be asked to answer a few questions about the process they followed and experience they had. Questions to come.
- Entries that don’t include both before and after pictures and/or question summary will be eliminated.
- The challenge end linky cut off will be March 2nd at 2:00 pm PST.
- Judging will specifically look at overall transformation, creative use of space, storage solutions that work and overall personal experience. A point system will be assigned to each and used for simplification.
Judging Criteria:
Overall Transformation – A well organized, uncluttered, clearly defined and efficient space that lends itself to easy maintenance.
Creative Use of Space – Using creative solutions to allow you to maximize your space and create zones in a new and manageable way.
Storage Solutions that Work – Using storage solutions that allow you to establish boundaries and limits and contain “like with like”.
Overall Personal Experience – The process that got you to the uncluttered space mentally and physically.
My philosophy on organizing is that it doesn’t need to cost big bucks to do it and so you’ll notice that $$ spent is not even a factor in the judging criteria. Many a creative storage solution can be found for next to nothing. I’m not necessarily going for designer spaces here, I’m more interested in the journey you took to get to the end result. I’m looking for evidence that shows me that not only did you clear the clutter from your space but that you are ready to take what you learned in the PROCESS to move on and tackle other cluttered spaces in your life. Now that to me is a success story!
