When it comes to cleaning, I like to keep the process as efficient as possible. One simple tip I love and that has helped me clean in a quick and productive manner is having a organized cleaning supply caddy. I know they sell various kinds at the store, but today my version is a simple basket from the dollar store that I already had in the home. When you keep all your cleaning supplies in one place, there’s no running around the home and wasting time retrieving the paper towel, cleaning spray, gloves, etc. Everything you need is stored in one basket or container and you carry it with you as go from room to room. If you have a larger home, it may be beneficial to have a couple of baskets with the same cleaning supplies. I think having one upstairs and downstairs is beneficial.
Here’s all the supplies I like to keep in my cleaning basket. I love it because the whole basket fits right under the bathroom sink.
I try to use natural cleaners in our home and it’s amazing what you can do with simple household ingredients. I have one bottle for everyday cleaning that’s used for all surface areas, a bathroom spray that is used for the tub/shower, and a simple 1-part vinegar and 1-part water mixture. This vinegar-water spray is awesome for mirrors and windows. It leaves a streak free shine and the vinegar smell disappears after a little while. You’ll also want to keep a roll of paper towel in the caddy.
I also like to wear gloves when cleaning bathrooms so a pair of rubber ones is always a necessity. The swiffer duster for picking up all sorts of dust on furniture, lamps, fans and other hard to reach places. My mom makes these crochet scrubs which are great for wiping down the sink area. I keep a candle and lighter so that the room smells great while I’m cleaning. The timer is so I can keep focused on my task since I tend to get sidetracked easily and will bounce from one chore to another. It’s really great when the kids help out and we try to beat the timer all together. It’s like a race and makes it a little more bearable when cleaning those yucky toilets.
Hope this tip is helpful when it comes to cleaning your home! Happy Cleaning!
