Home is a delicious scent: Satsuma!

My friend Sandy, of the lovely blog Reluctant Entertainer, has started a new weekly linky party called Home is… Each Wednesday she gives us a new theme to share about our homes and this week it’s a delicious scent.

I knew I wanted to participate because my house definitely has a signature scent.  A scent that I’ve been infusing into my home for quite some time.  I absolutely adore it and  no matter where I am now, if I smell even the tiniest whiff of satsuma I immediately think of home.

Home is….the delicious scent of Body Shop Satsuma Home Fragrance Oil!

It makes me happy and puts a smile on my face.  I just add a few drops to my infuser every couple of days and the whole house smells amazing.

There is something so refreshing and comforting about this delicious scent that puts me in a great mood ready to tackle my spaces or just sit and relax.  It makes my home feel clean (even if it’s not) and reminds me of spring all year round which is a good thing since I live in a place where winters go on for at least six months out of the year.

Ahhh, how I love the smell of home 🙂

  1. Pier One used to make an Italian Herb scent that I adored. It made my home smell like a warm, sunny garden and I especially loved it in my kitchen.

But now I make do with spicy, fruity scents.

  2. I am a consultant for Scentsy. They are the makers of wickless candle warmers and have over 80 scents to choose from. My favorite one right now is “Calypso”. It is a smell of bright citrus fruits with tropical guava. So refreshing!

  3. Scentsy’s french kiss scent is absolutely to die for…it started out in my office but now it’s taken over the entire main floor and basement. We all love it!

  4. The smell of wood burning in the wood stove always makes me happy. In the summer it’s the smell of fresh air blowing through the windows that I love (and when the winds change and you can smell the fog coming in off the ocean I love that too – even if I don’t love the fog!)

  5. It just amazes me how smells can trigger moods and emotions in us. I need the scent to energize and get things done. I haven’t found that scent yet! LOL!

  6. Probably all time favorite for me is food! I am not a vanilla fan, but I do like citrusy scents myself.

Thanks for linking up today, Laura! 🙂

  7. Laura – did you know that The Body Shop has discontinued it’s electrical plug-in diffuser thingy. AGH! I ‘ve been wanting a new one and some refill pads and I checked in PG a couple weeks ago………NO GO! Why end such a great thing?!!! I am a LOVER of fragrances…….LOVE LOVE LOVE! Would love to try some of the Scentsy thing the girls are talking about – where do you get it?

  8. The Body Shop has wonderful Satsuma soap.

Personally I love Vanilla in the fall, Pine in the winter, Lavender in the spring, and Citrus in summer.
I would love to smell fresh baking bread, but I would have to be the one baking it…

  9. I usually go with cinnamon, but since having babies I’ve stopped burning candles. I like the idea of a signature scent. My body shop home fragrance oils are actually one of the things I purged last year…as well as the burner. I really enjoyed Africa Spa. Maybe I’ll get a new one and find that signature scent for our home.

  10. 3 scents: Aveda’s Chakra scent number 5 (I’m not into the chakra’s-have no idea what they do) but the scent is very clean and healthy. I spray a little on a cleaning rag and clean surfaces with it.
Another scent: Tymes “Douglas Fir Home Scent”–I spray on a rag and clean surfaces with it–I don’t use it as my cleaner, but augment the cleaner with the fragrance)–very nice winter fragrance.
Another scent- Farmhouse brand Lavender dusting fragrance. When I clean the kitchen or dust I put a few drops on my cloth and clean up.

  11. This was a very informative post! Lots of good ideas. I have too many favorite scents. For my bedroom I like lavender, for the bathroom I use lime or some citris, for the living room and dining room I use some baking scent or coffee scent and for the upstairs I use a clean, simple scent. Too choose just one would be a challenge. Thanks for the post!

  12. Great post and comments! I love anything that smells like the beach for the warm months, and pumpkin or apple for the winter months. I’ll have to test out some of the suggestions above. Thanks!

  13. I like mostly anything. I have been lighting candles more around my house and I love walking into each room with a different scent. I have so many candles but never used them. I don’t like anything to strong because then I get a headache.

When I am baking, I love the scent of that. Or when I make homemade soup. It always reminds me of when I grew up.

I know this might be out there but I also love the smell of my husband’s shaving cream and cologne.

  14. WOW

I asked my wife to pop into Bodyshop today to pick up some of this whilst she was in town today. As well as the oil, she also found the diffuser set which is now sitting in our hall.

The whole house smells FANTASTIC and has made me realise where I have been going wrong.

I don’t need relaxing scents or warming scents in my home. I need vibrant and uplifting feel good scents and this hits the spot perfectly.

    Thanks
