Menu Plan Monday ~ Sept 21st

in Menu Plan Monday

mpmfall1

So another week is here!  I’ve had the most beautiful day of puttering around, one of my favorite ways to spend a day.  No commitments, just a little bit of this and a little bit of that, getting all those itty bitty details taken care of that seem to pile up during the week.  Of course I still have four loads of laundry to do but I’ll get to those eventually :)

So it seems that as the school year gets going and fall sets in we have many more participants joining us for Menu Plan Monday.  In fact, we were six short of 400 last week!!  It makes me so happy to know that people are starting off this season on an organized foot.  Menu planning makes a huge difference and I just want everyone to see how taking a few minutes once a week to plan your meals can literally change your life.  It doesn’t have to be complicated, it doesn’t have to be fancy, it just has to be enough to give you the peace of mind that you don’t have to worry about what you’ll be serving your family each night for dinner.

I purchased Taste of Home’s Summer Slow Cooker Meals cookbook back in July to giveaway here on the blog and then life happened and I never got around to it.   However even though we are no longer in the midst of summer (at least not in my neck of the woods!), I’d still like to give it away to one of YOU to enjoy.

slowcooker meals

So this is what I’m going to do.  If today we get over 400 Menu Plan Monday participants I will giveaway this cookbook to one random participant from the Mr. Linky list below.  You’ll have to link up to your menu plan before Wed, Sept 23rd at 12:00 pm PST to be eligible.  If we don’t happen to get over 400 participants then I’ll carry the prize forward to the next week and so on.

Last week’s recipe highlight goes to the Kid-Pleasing Spaghetti which I made for my girlfriend.  She tells me her four kids gobbled it up.  It’s a nice one dish inexpensive meal to make and take to someone in need.

Here’s what we’ll be eating here this week:

Monday: Sausage Potato Soup (missed from last week)

Tuesday: Chicken Pasta Primavera

Wednesday: Slow Cooker Corny Chili (Family Favorite) served with Buttermilk Wheat Bread

Thursday: Leftover buffet

Friday: Quick Homemade Pizza

Saturday: Cinnamon-Apple Pork Chops served with rice and veggies

Simple Supper Sunday

WHAT’S ON YOUR MENU THIS WEEK?

Yummy Laura, I am going to try your sausage potato soup. Just in time for my soup carnival in October, and I am running out of soup recipes – so thanks! I am also going to try that kid friendly spaghetti. Thanks!

i’ve been checking out your menu plan mondays (as well as all your other awesome organizing tips)and love them, so i decided to add my name and own week of dinners to your link list up there. also, i made the honey lime grilled chicken sandwiches you featured in your sept. 7th menu plan and they were so good.

I’m not sure how to go about posting recipes when they come from a cookbook. I don’t want to get in trouble with copyrights. What do you suggest? Do I need to start finding all of my recipes on the internet? I’d love to hear back.

This weeks menu for us is cleaning out the pantry/freezer. This will help us save on money and make room for newer items.

Love menu plan Monday. I truly enjoy hopping over to a few other blogs and seeing “what’s for dinner”

Hi there,
I wouldn’t mind a summer slow cooker book because it is Spring here and we’re in a heat wave and when I’m getting regular work as a relief teacher I’m going to really need to use it. But don’t worry, I wouldn’t expect it to be posted to Australia!
Dh has said that he would like to try the Slow Cooker Corny Chili and I like the look of the Chicken Pasta Primavera.

Whoops, I forgot to put Pamela @ mommy stories above! I have two recipe links, one is for a broccoli soup that looks so yummy. The slow cooker book looks amazing, I have been wanting to try a slow cooker ever since I started menu planning. Thanks for the chance to win :)

Thanks for posting this every week! It really helps me to get a menu plan set up. I try to pick my recipes by looking at what I have in stock. For example, this week I have cabbage, sausage, rice, so I am going to make Sausage Rice Cabbage Rolls in the Crock-Pot. This way nothing goes bad and we all eat happy!

This is a first for me!!! you have a great blog – when I first came across it, I was like where have you been all my life?!?!?! thanks!!!!

Cheryl September 21, 2009 at 12:03 pm

Reading your blog again after a 2 year absence. I still did my “menu plan mondays” through all those years. I’m amazed at how many people have blogs now and that you’re approaching 400 participants. I think 2 years ago you’d get about 45 people on a Monday. I’m going to try your chili recipe this week as it sounds so quick and simple. Keep up the good work!

Bethany September 21, 2009 at 2:28 pm

What a lovely looking cookbook. Wouldn’t it be awesome to have 400 participants! Have a fantastic week!

Cre September 21, 2009 at 4:15 pm

My first time linking up too! First “official put it on paper” week for me too.

Hope you hit 400!

Reply

Rebecca September 21, 2009 at 4:36 pm

Wow, you are getting close to 400!

Barbie, I usually just put the name of the cookbook & a link to it on Amazon, unless I’ve modified the recipe enough that it’s really my own.

Reply

Laura September 21, 2009 at 6:47 pm

Wow, welcome to all those of you who are linking up for the first time. So great to see!

To answer Barbie’s question about cookbook copyright. If you are taking a recipe from a cookbook I agree with Rebecca above that as long as you source it correctly it’s okay.

If it’s a recipe from online or from a blog it’s better and more considerate just to link to it rather than copying it out on your own site.

Kim September 21, 2009 at 8:50 pm

I personally think you should have a new post up every time I click on your site. That would only be about 6 posts a day! I feel like you are so far away……..

Huge lover of recipes and of organizing, so this site is AWESOME!! Hubby & I are trying to lose weight. Is there a site where I can plug in ingredients and it will give me the nutritional value? Thanks.

Ohhhhh! I’m number 399!!! So excited to see us get to 400!

Love, love, LOVE menu planning now. I have wanted to go it for years, but never stuck to it. This WORKS for me. I look foreward to it! (Even though I am a little late this week. :-)

I do agree with what you said about planning your meals being able to change your life.
In other areas of my life, I have a long ways to go, but I feel sooooo much more in control and calm now that I am planning our meals once a week.

I think I tell you THANK YOU every-single-week. I’m a broken record, but I’m JUST THAT EXCITED!! LOL! Have a great week! :-)
