Menu Plan Monday ~ Sept 8th

Hello!  I hope you all had a wonderful weekend!  I am feeling much better emotionally and sometime soon I’ll gather my thoughts and explain why.  Thanks for all your wonderful comments.

Due to some schedule changes in our home this past week I never got around to making two of the recipes I had planned.   Not a big deal though because I can just move them forward to this week if I want, I love the flexibility of menu planning!

Each week I try and share a new menu planning resource with you if I come across something that I think would be helpful to others.  This one is brilliant and although it doesn’t help us so much with our own menu planning it is an awesome FREE service if you are trying to coordinate meals for others.  It’s called Food Tidings, a website that exists to simplify the process of organizing meals for friends or family members in a transitional time of life. For someone who has just had a baby, recovering from surgery or injury, grieving the passing of a loved one, confined to bed rest, and almost anything else, receiving dinners from loved ones can be very comforting and helpful.  I just signed up and created a “dummy” schedule just to see how it works and it’s amazingly simple and efficient.  Once you’ve got a schedule created you can quickly email others giving them the opportunity to choose a day to bring a meal that is convenient for them.  As an organizing junkie, this kind of simple streamlining makes me very very happy.

So here is what’s on our menu.  Have a great week all!

Monday: Mexican Chicken Soup served with Bread Machine Wheat Bread

Tuesday: Pepperoni Pasta

Wednesday: Crockpot Apple, Cheddar & Turkey Meatballs (these look so good, I just have to try them!) served with rice

Thursday: Leftover buffet

Friday: Baked Chicken and Acorn Squash

Saturday: Grilled steak, baked potatoes and grilled garden veggies

Sunday: Casual night aka last ditch fridge clean out

WHAT’S ON YOUR MENU?

No MPM for me today! boo hoo! Actually, in one way it’s good. This is a busy week for me, and my husband is going to take care of Monday and Tuesday. Wednesday we’ll eat at church. Thursday we get to go out, and Friday is football night, which means pizza!

Your menu looks so delicious, especially the acorn squash. I have been reading for quite awhile, but just finally started a blog so I will be a regular on here trying to keep my kitchen from the last minute frustration where we are all whining “I’m hungry” and staring into the pantry and waiting for that perfect meal to fall out. Thanks for the help.

Yum…the Mexican Soup looks good! :) Thanks for hosting this…I always enjoy looking at other people’s menus for inspiration, and I love the idea behind the website you shared today! Heading over right now to check it out.

Okay, so I don’t have a food blog, but I can tell ya what I’m making for dinner over the next couple of weeks. I do a rough meal-plan for every two weeks, which is when payday grocery shopping happens in my house. This week, we are having: 1)chicken tortilla soup with homemade tortilla chips; 2)chicken noodle soup with homemade noodles; 3)pork chops with hashbrown casserole; 4)lasagna; 5)pot roast with veggies; 5) meatloaf w/mashed potatoes; 6)grilled chicken salad….I could go on and on, but it would take me forever! I have 3 teenage stepsons and a preteen daughter, as well as me and my dear hubby, so you can imagine the amount of food that our household goes through…;o) Meal-planning saves me a lot of money, and a lot less trips to the grocery store!

  26. Posted September 8, 2008 at 4:44 am | Permalink

My big push this week is to get my children making two of the meals. They’re 11 and 13, so it’s about time! Of course, it takes almost as much work to have them make it as to make me make it, but it’s important to teach them!

    Have a good one!

    Hi there everybody!
I have not been doing this for ages, but I’m back again!
The whole family is trying to lose weight so we have started planning our menu ahead of time starting this week. Wish us luck! We all have so much (weight) to lose!!

    Hi Laura,

As always, thank you for hosting MPM! Thanks to you and your site, I have been menu planning for months now. It has absolutely helped on making life simpler and easier and also helped us on our journey toward financial FREEDOM!

I have one request for you to consider and I will admit right away that it is silly, childish and whiney. But, is there any possible way that Menu Plan Monday can start earlier? All of us post our menus to help others, certainly, but I think most of us will admit great pleasure in the fact that new people visit our blogs on Mondays and it is wonderful!

But, for those of us living on the East Coast, MPM tends to hit the screen at midnight or later, while we are all a-snooze. And by Monday morning, the list is often 100 people long…and no one comes to visit our little blogs.

    I know, I told you. I’m whining.

Anyway, I just wanted to toss it out as something you might consider doing, just to give us East Coasters a chance to get get in the top 25 every now and then.

Again, thank you for hosting and for ALL that you do.
Glad you are feeling better this week.
