in Menu Plan Monday

Welcome to another Menu Plan Monday and the start of a brand new week! Right off the top I want to send a big thank you out to the nice person(s) out there that nominated me in the Share the Love Blog Awards and in two catergories to boot….Best Blog Design and Most Inspiring! I am so honored! This is my first ever bloggy nomination of any kind and my excitement runneth over. It means so very very much to me….thank you, thank you, thank you!

Nominations are open until January 31st and then the voting beings! Click on the button above to go see all the details. Thanks to Blogging Basics 101 for teaching me how to link a button!

So this week I’m going to try and keep my grocery bill down to no more than $100.00. Usually it is closer to $200.00 for the week but don’t forget I live in the middle of nowhere. My chosen recipes will be using up a lot of ingredients that I already have in the house.

Monday: Fajitas
Tuesday: Slow Cooker Sirloin Roast (S&D Nov/Dec 06 Pg 13) , Buttery Garlic Potatoes (S&D Mar/Apr 06 Pg 35) and broccoli – see note
Wednesday: Foil Pack Creamy Chicken and Mushroom Dinner served with perogies
Thursday: Leftovers
Friday: Fuss Free Ravioli and Cheese Bake and Crisp Zucchini and Apple Slaw
Saturday: Marvelous Mini Meatloaves served with potato patties and carrots

(S&D = Taste of Home’s Simple and Delicious magazine)

Please join in and tell us what is on your menu this week!

Hey Laura, your menu sounds great this week. Have your chore charts arrived yet? I meant to stick a note in with them and forgot to…oh well. Have a super Monday.

By the way, congrats on your nomination! I went over to nominate you and saw that I had been beaten to it!

I put that foil pack chicken dinner on my menu this week after getting a magazine in the mail that had the recipe in it! I may change my regular meat loaf to those mini ones too. Your week looks good!

Hi Laura

I love your blog so congrats on the nomination!

I think we are definitely kindred spirits. I love those baskets and yes, I hear the voices too! And not only that, but I also got excited about labelling my blog posts. So last night I sat for 3 hours (I have dial-up) and labelled everything. Now I have to do my other blogs!

I have also been trying to stick to a budget with my shopping so this week I sent my husband to do the shopping because he gets in, gets only what’s on the list and out again. Already he spent just over half of what I normally spend, so we’re doing great!

Congrats on the nomination! I think your web design is really fun.

I make mini meatloaves. I make about 5 pounds worth at one time and then individually freeze each one. Makes for quick future meals.

Love the idea of having people share their week’s menu.

Congratulations, Laura. Both these nominations are very well deserved. You have a huge following of people who come here time and time again to get great advice for keeping their homes under control.

Learning how to link a buttons was so cool. Blogging Basics 101 is a great site. Learning just that one thing saved me so much time trying to figure out all the code.

I am back on the bandwagon after skipping last week. Isn’t it funny, I plan on having a foil dinner this week too.

Reply

48 Lynn January 30, 2007 at 1:55 am

When you say foil pack dinner…do you mean wrapping each individual portion in tin foil??? I do that with my girl scout troop, but invariably, the juices escape out of the packet and run all over the oven and it’s a mess!!!!! Do you have any suggestions on how to avoid the liquidy mess?????

Reply

49 org junkie January 30, 2007 at 1:59 am

Hi Lynn, this is the first time making this particular recipe. Yes you do wrap each chicken breast in foil…you can click on the recipe name in my post and it will take you to the recipe.
If it turns out I’ll let you know next Monday. I’m hoping for the best….I’d hate to have to clean my oven afterwards.

This is the firt time I do a Menu Monday. It’s a great idea, and I hope to keep up! I have also posted some photos, since the menu may seem a bit unusual, for you to see what the dishes look like.

Congratulations on your nomination. I think you deserve it for your ideas, your writing, and for your organisational skills. You bring so many women together, that says something about it! Thank you.

Hey, Laura,
I really love your blog and like to participate in menu plan monday. I’m not sure how though. Do we use the same banner or would that be stealing someones (yours) artwork?
Do we add the other participants? Etc. Please tell a blog clutz how to do this?

Be loved and blessed,

faerieeva.

Reply

55 org junkie January 30, 2007 at 8:24 pm

Faerieeva – to participate all you need to do is post your menu on your site and then come back here to Mr. Linky and leave the url to your menu plan. Then people will be able to click on your link and come check out your menu. And please, feel free to use the banner!
Hope that helps,
Laura
