WFMW – Back of door storage

Seems like forever since I’ve posted on WFMW and this week I even get to use the nice new banner!

I solved a dilemma in my house this winter and for the life of me cannot figure out why I didn’t think of it sooner. It has to do with the kids wet snowpants after they come in from playing outside and what to do with them. You see in my hall closet I have a closet organizer with two sections a top rod and a bottom rod. If I hung up the wet snowpants on the top rod they would drip down onto the coats on the bottom rod and I couldn’t put them on the bottom rod because there isn’t enough room for them to hang properly without bunching up on the floor and getting the shoes all wet. I don’t like to take them all the way down to my laundry room in the basement either because I like to keep things where they are easily accessible for the kids and of course less work for me. What to do, what to do? That’s when it came to me, the back of my front door! Such wasted space anyway….perfect! I purchased three really strong magnetic hooks at the dollar store and voila I have an excellent spot to dry those wet snowpants and it keeps them handy for the kids the next time they want to head out to play.

Great idea! Thanks for stopping by earlier. And thanks for sharing! I only wish I had a hall closet for coats & such!

Great idea. Doesn’t snow where I am and I don’t miss the smell of soggy mittens!

Ingenious! All I need now is snow in the desert… :) Perhaps I will use the idea to store hats during the summer! :)

I love this idea, and it will work at my house too. I have five daycare kids, and boy do I need a better way to dry those snowpants!

Crud! My door is wood! And I loved the idea of being able to remove the magnet hooks during the off season! But, this is a great idea!

Those hooks look great! I’ve been thinking about where to store our snow clothes too because I don’t want them in my nice new closet. I think I’m going to hang mine in the bathroom that is by the back door. I’ll probably put a basket on the floor for them to throw their mittens and hats in. That might have to be my next project when I get back.

LOVE this idea! Our 2 back doors are metal too, so this would totally work. I’ll go add the superduty magnets to my extensive to do list tomorrow! Man I do love WFMW!!
