The following is a guest post about how to easily organize hair accessories from regular contributor, Kristin at The Gold Project.
When spring time arrives, it is all about decluttering and reorganizing in my house. My mind is usually always on the two tasks, but the bright sunshine and warmer temps step it up a notch. This year, I am attempting to tackle the smaller spaces. The ones that normally get completely ignored. I usually focus on the big tasks like the pantry, closets, and kitchen cabinets. Which means, I tend to skip the smaller spaces that I don’t have to make eye contact with often. But, this year, I am addressing these spaces.
Today, I am focusing on one of my bathroom drawers. This is the drawer that I call my, “hair accessories drawer.” It contains all of the hair brushes and ties. I originally had everything divided out by type in this Ikea Antonius Basket, but as you see it doesn’t look like that now. I guess that is what happens when you have several hands digging into the drawer throughout the day.
My goal for this task is to get my drawer cleaned out and back in order. Even though the before isn’t so bad, it’s always less overwhelming to organize a space before it gets completely out of hand.
To accomplish this goal, I am going to start with a clean slate and remove everything from the drawer. Then I’ll do a quick purge of anything that is no longer fitting our needs or belongs somewhere else. Finally I’ll clean the drawer and tray before placing everything back in the drawer fully organized. To clean, I am using the Mrs. Meyer’s Multi-Surface Spray in Mint and a microfiber cloth. If you haven’t tried a microfiber cloth to clean, you definitely should. It is a game changer.
In no time at all I restored my drawer to the order I like. I have everything organized by type; headbands, hair ties, hair claws, small hair ties, and bobby pins.
Here are the hair accessories I was able to part with.
Next month, I will share my makeup clean out and reorganization. I am not sure what y’all, but my makeup collection needs some help.

My name is Kristin and I am a middle school career education teacher by day and a mommy/wife/blogger by night. I am married to my high school sweetheart and we have two loving children. We recently made a life-changing move to Arkansas, so our new house is always under construction. I get excitement out of finding new creative, functional, and cute ways to organize things! I also enjoy writing and documenting life as it happens. So, I put these loves together and created The Gold Project. With the help of my husband, I am attempting to turn our house into a home. So, check out this special place of mine and take this journey with me!
