Menu Plan Monday ~ December 5/16

Menu Plan Monday for the week of Dec 5/16 - recipe links and menu planning inspiration to help you get dinner on the table each night stress-free at I'm an Organizing Junkie blog

Hi friends! How are you? Today is get your menu plan done day, aren’t you excited? πŸ™‚

We had a glorious family day on Saturday going out to get our Christmas tree. I shared on my Instagram page that for the first time in a long time we didn’t have to cut our Christmas tree down in super cold weather. It was only -3C (26F) which meant I didn’t even have to pull the parka out!! So glad we went out when we did because the cold weather arrived the very next day. Yesterday it got to -27C (-16F) and it’s suppose to stick around all week. Brrr.

And here’s the winner!

Do you do a real tree or an artificial one? I love a real tree but boy do I really dislike putting the lights on, it makes me crazy!

Here’s what we’ll be eating this week.

My Weekly Menu Plan:

Monday: Classic Spinach Salad with Creamy Avocado Dressing served with Paleo Cajun Onion Rings

Tuesday:Β  Salt & Vinegar Chicken Wings served with spinach smoothies

Wednesday: Chipotle Pulled Pork Lettuce Wraps

Thursday: Leftover buffet

Friday: Pizza Party Friday Night with 5 minute homemade pizza dough and for me Paleo Shrimp Scampi Spaghetti Squash Boats

Saturday: Easy Paleo Homestyle Meatloaf served with broccoli

Sunday: YOYO (you’re on your own!)

Have a wonderful week everyone!!

I love the *idea* of a real tree (yours is gorgeous!). But for practical reasons I do a fake (pre-lit) tree (and buy a real pine wreath so I can enjoy the scent). Thanks as always for hosting!

Growing up we always had a real tree. After I married we tried a real tree one year. My husband is so allergic that he was miserable with that tree in the house, he had trouble breathing, his eyes were constantly watering and we had to sleep with the window open. We also fpund that tree came with a friend, a bird was in the tree when we brought it home, we had it decorated before we discovered it. That was the last year for a real tree for us.

Oh boy, I always worry about that but thankfully we’ve never had any visitors πŸ™‚

I grew up with a real tree and love the idea. We have an artificial one though because my husband is allergic. To be honest, I’d feel a bit bad buying one and throwing it out every year anyway.

I’m pretty sure if it weren’t for my husband I would have switched over a long time ago just because of those darn lights πŸ™‚

I have to have a real tree for the smell. We cut ours down for the first time this year, since in past years, our tree had been really dried out by Christmas. It was fun!

We use sugar water to water our tree and it works to make the tree last for the entire month for us.

Wow, what a great idea! I have never heard that. We use a fake tree, but only because of the price. When we finish our cabin and move out to the land I think we will grow our own. I do not think I will enjoy the lights either, but cannot wait for a live tree. I tried to get on this year, but the hubby does not like the price lol.

That’s a nice-looking tree! We usually have a live tree, but we have an artificial one for the years when we travel for the holidays.

We use a fake tree but this year for the first time EVER, we’re not putting one up. AGHAST! πŸ˜‰ I know, crazy! But in an effort to practice what I preach (I’m always talking about “simplifying your life”) we made a family decision to decorate the mantel and a few other areas, but not the tree. We were away all Thanksgiving break and then are traveling the 20th through the 2nd – so it just felt like a whole lotta work for a very little period of enjoyment. The kids were totally fine with it too (that was my biggest worry). Your tree is beautiful Laura!

Yes! That’s what it’s all about, doing what you can. So glad you guys are working together as a family to reduce the stress. Way to go!

When I grew up my family always had a real tree, but unfortunately I don’t have enough space in the flat I’m living in, so I’m kind of bummed as I miss the scent a bit.

We had real trees for a long time when I was growing up. I don’t know why my parents switched. DH is allergic to pine, so ours is artificial. It used to be a pre-lit, but the lights stopped working. It was still a perfectly good tree, so we cut the lights off and I got strands to put on it. I usually have my oldest boy (he’s 14 and 6’1) put them on!
