Friday Favorites: Finding Joy at Home, Spring Cleaning, The Oversheduled Kid + more!

my favorite organizing links for April 10/15 at I'm an Organizing Junkie blog

Hello!  I made it home safe and sound and right on time to celebrate my daughter’s 18 birthday.  Eighteen!!  Gosh that sounds so strange to say.  When I started this blog 9 years ago she was just 9 years old.  So crazy!  Soon she will be leaving home to attend college and while part of me wishes she would stay home forever, there is the more logical part of me that knows I have to let her go and watch her soar.  She is ready.  This parenting stuff is hard y’all.  For those that have been through this already, do you have any tips for me on how to make the transition easier?

I didn’t share any favorites last week since I was enjoying time with family so this week I had a ton of links to go through in my Feedly account (where I consolidate and read all the blogs I follow).  I hope you like the ones I’ve chosen.  How many of you have been doing some much needed decluttering lately?  I hope you all take at least 5 minutes a day to add at least 5 things to your donation station.  It makes a world of difference to a lighter fresher home.  Remember sometimes we don’t need more space, we just need less stuff in the space we have. I’ll talk more on this next week in a post when I share what I learned from visiting my sister’s 4500 square foot home and how it made me feel about my own much smaller home.

Laura, thank you for linking to “Start Where You Are!” It seems like I have to return again and again to this message to myself! Hope your readers enjoy it. Aaaand…I CAN’T believe your daughter is 18! It is crazy how quickly the time goes. It definitely takes some adjusting to the new reality, but I know you’ll do great!! Blessings, Rachel

Thanks for including my Ways To deal With Sentimental Clutter in your round-up! It’s especially hard to let go of the kids things!

Our son is almost 19, and the last one out of the nest. It get easier, I promise…and even fun once you get used to the freedome, space and much lower food bills;)

LOL at the much lower food bills.

I keep saying about my 5-year-olds, “when are we going to have the picky toddler stage?” mine have eaten like proper hungry kids forever…

Laura, I can’t believe she’s 18! Good grief. Watching along and catching tips…. I’m not great at the letting go!

I’m not either Marcia, but it’s interesting how God slowly prepares you for their departure :)
