Happy Wednesday to you! Today I thought I’d do something a little different and show you how I do a little decorating for the seasons. And by little I mean don’t get too excited. I do just enough to give me a little boost of joy when I see it throughout the day but not too much that I need to have boat loads of storage to store it all out of season. I prefer to decorate for the seasons rather than each individual holiday because it only has to be done four times a year and therefore less work in the long run. It’s just what works for me.

In the house I currently live in I don’t have any kind of mantel so I’m unable to do any decorating there as I see so many of my blogging friends do. Instead I use my “china” hutch. We purchased two inexpensive microwave stand hutch type things last year to give me some additional storage in my dining room. I wrote a whole post all about it
HERE if you’d like to read it. I have loved having the extra space and I have really really enjoyed the “counter” space for my seasonal hutch displays.
Now that I’ve had my hutches for a full year, I thought it would be fun to show you how I’ve changed the look up with each of the four seasons.
Summer

Summer is fun because I get to show off my favorite crazy daisy patterned dishes. Oh my how I love these and the fun colors.

Fall

Most of my colored plates that I use on the three tiered stand I get from the thrift store. Great way to add pops of color inexpensively. Also just changing out the placemats makes a big difference too without breaking the bank.
Winter

The colors are a little more subdued during the winter as you can see but Stanley my reindeer friend makes me smile 🙂

Spring

This is my current display. I just love smiley faces. My son bought me this mug for Christmas one year. The framed picture at the back says you are my sunshine. It’s a free printable I found online
here. Subbing out free printables in a frame is a great way to decorate on the cheap. Just give Pinterest a search and be amazed at all the possibilities.

If you know me in real life you know that I absolutely adore color. I rarely where all black and instead prefer bright tops and accessories. So of course my favorite season is spring because the colors are so vibrant and cheerful.

So there you have it, a look through the seasons via my home displays. I hope you enjoyed this tour.
Do you decorate for the seasons?

I love it!
I’m thinking of getting one of those too from Canadian Tire (top for tea cups, cookbooks on the counter-style part).
I’m wondering what is that on your yellow plate in the Fall display? I thought it was a light bulb at first, but maybe it’s something cool that represents Fall for you?
ps-All your dishes look in immaculate condition too, no chips! Great thrift store finds! (…not looking for chips, just noticed your stuff looks in brand-new condition!)
Oh that’s so funny you noticed that, it is a light bulb! lol Not sure how it got there but occasionally my family likes to mess with me 🙂 I love pretty dishes so much and always get so excited when I find great pieces at the thrift store!
LOVE the truncated feed. That’s the convention for RSS readers. We see a “teaser” for each of our blog posts, then click to any where we want to read the full post. It’s a huge time saver for anyone who reads several blogs regularly.
Saves the reader from scrolling through a whole post with its ads and collateral content if it doesn’t interest us.
I need to do something like this! I used to decorate every holiday when we had our house but when we had to move into an apartment, there was too much stuff and not enough room for it all! Something like this would work perfectly in here 🙂
Love them! They look so pretty and you do an awesome job! Angie xo
Ahhh thanks Angie, that means a lot coming from you!!!
This is SO fun!!! I wish I had an area that I could do this. I’ll just have to find one!!
