The following is a guest post from regular contributor, Angie at Echoes of Laughter.
I don’t what it is about guest-posting on this blog, but every time I visit here, I seem to be confessing about some area of my life that is in disarray. I guess, to be honest, I am trying to let you know that even though I love organizing, I still have lots of areas that I fall down on because I have a busy life with a busy family, just like all of you, and sometimes things slide. It just happens, right? This week my 20 minute organizing project was my bedside table.
Last week I was reading in bed when I opened up my bedside table drawer to grab a pen and found this (below). What a mess! I don’t know how this happened but clearly it is time to take control. Sorry if you are disappointed by the regular, boring junk in my bedside drawer! Ha! The only exciting thing I found in here was my husband`s fishing knife. I`m not sure how it got into my drawer, but clearly he must be worried about intruders in the middle of the night. I vacated the knife to the garage…where it belongs. A fishing knife in my bedside table just ruins the karma in the bedroom somehow, don’t you agree? (What weird things have you found in your bedside table?)
And because Laura and I share a love of dollar store finds for organizing, that was my first stop for looking for some organizing tools to help this drawer get whipped into shape. I found these awesome, clear bins for $1 each. Perfect!
After I dumped out the drawer and sorted out the junk, garbage and things that belonged elsewhere, like the above mentioned fishing knife, this is what I was left with: creams for my hand, a flashlight for emergencies, pens & pencils and a notepad, a magnifying glass for reading fine print, earphones, my camera battery (I like it here because I often charge my camera overnight and this reminds me to do so!) and an extra battery for my computer mouse. I cannot tell you how many times I have been catching up on blog reading at night when my mouse battery dies and I have to climb out of my cozy bed and go downstairs to fetch a new one!
This drawer looks so much better, don’t you think? I love 20 minute organizing projects! They are the bomb!
So tell me, have you tackled any 20 minute organizing projects lately? What project are you most proud of?
Have a wonderful week and enjoy the sunshine!

Love the organizing bins! They are the greatest!!! What really stinks, is I didn’t get mine for $1… So lucky you!!! 🙂

Love those before and after photos! I’m really good at the organizing part, but rather lose interest in the organizing everything that *doesn’t* go back in the drawer part … ah well!!

Boy do I need something like this! I don’t have a drawer, so everything sits on top of each other–I like the idea of small compartments to store things.

Good inspiration! My dresser drawer AND the top are overflowing. Time to clean. 🙂

OH my goodness this is so smart!! I’m moving tomorrow and while I am a huge fan of both blogs, and am doing my best to stay organized….let’s just say my bedside table is something that always stays CLOSED because I don’t know what’s in there or how it got there. Well with packing I had to (finally) go through it all and now I know what to do with it after the move is done and I begin unpacking! I LOVE the dollar store too and will definitely be looking for these bins! Thanks!!

Mine is currently looking a lot like the ‘before’ photo! I really need to do this, I’m sure life would feel easier if I could see where everything was! Xx
