Clutter Rehab

This giveaway is now closed. The winners are #171 Kendra, #141 Amy and #55 Joanna!  The Twitter winner is @tnlibrarygal.  Thanks everyone!

It’s a strange experience to be asked to write a book you never once dreamed of writing.  As a kid I don’t think I ever once said one day I’m going to grow up and write a book.  Of course I never thought I’d grow up to be an organizer either so there you go.  What I have dreamt about though since starting this blog of mine is helping as many women as I can enjoy the bountiful benefits of living an organized life.  The daily emails I get from overwhelmed and desperate women breaks my heart and makes me wish I could do more.  I try to answer as many as I can.  I’ve been able to point them in the direction of previous posts I’ve written that may provide some hope, a place to start, or even a little encouragement.  Yet my list of helpful posts is incredibly outdated and in all honesty not terribly organized.  To have to weed through pages and pages of previous posts not to helpful either.  I knew there had to be a better way.

That way came in way of a book offer, a book offer I initially said no to accepting.  I honestly didn’t know how I would find the time to write it and if I didn’t have the time to write it, how in the world would overwhelmed women (and men)  find the time to read it especially considering the already saturated market on this topic.  It just didn’t make sense to me.  Then my publisher suggested a tips book, a compilation of my 101 best organizing tips and tricks in an easy to read format.  That got my attention and after some more discussion I agreed to do it.

I’m not going to lie though, it was still a lot of work and my deadline was short but with the prayers of many and the blessing of my parents taking the kids for a month (something I am so completely grateful for!) I was able to finish it just in the nick of time.

Today after months of waiting, Clutter Rehab finally arrived in my mailbox.  It was very exciting!  Those of you who pre-ordered (thank you!) should be receiving them soon as well.  I’m anxious and scared all at the same time to hear what you think.  But most of all I just want this book to be helpful and encouraging and not just one more thing on your to do list.  I promise you it’s an easy read and it’s actually pretty small in size which I’m thrilled about because it will fit easily into a purse, perfect for those small pockets of time we have in our day when waiting to pick up kids, etc.  It isn’t a ton of pages or even very complex but it does provide simple straight forward bites of organizing help that (hopefully) won’t leave you feeling more overwhelmed than you were before you starting reading it. Sample pages are now available on Amazon if you’d like to check out the format.  It’s also on sale right now for $9.32!

I’m such a freak!

Thank you everyone for your patience and support in this endeavor of mine.  I really do hope you like it.  If you happen to be out and about over the next couple of weeks and see my book in a store I’d love it if you could snap a picture of it for me.  I live in a town without a bookstore (gasp, I know!) and won’t be back into the city for another couple of weeks and I’m dying to see it on the shelves!

Thank you, thank you!

Sorry, this giveaway is now closed.

  18. I follow of email & FB; I want a book, but you have to know that I will leave it on my night stand or end table fully intending to read, highlight, and follow thru on any/all ideas & strategies, but what will really happen (other than the dust collection) is my rottweiller, Garcia, will instead decide it is his new play toy and eat all or part, at which time I will recover said book, reclaim it as mine & begin to read what is left of it. Remembering not to leave it on the end table again. Feel free to insert cell phone, glasses, remote, any other object in for book. My life story!

  19. I am obsessed with organizing my life and I’m always looking for new tips and tricks. Sounds like your book is just what I need 😉

    Thanks!

  20. I really want to be an ORGANIZED JUNKIE. I’m sure CLUTTER REHAB will help me!

  25. How cool, I’d love a copy! Congrats to you! I wish I was heading out shopping tonight, I’d run into Barnes & Noble for you. I will keep my eyes though for it on the shelf 🙂

  26. Yea! Thank you for the giveaway! I really like the cover design and the quick read type feel. It’s definately something I would pick up in a store.

    Good luck!

  27. oh wowwww do i need that! my little apartment in nyc cannot suffer anymore from my hoarding.

  28. Congrats on the book! How exciting! I work at my local library and can’t wait to see it on the shelves 🙂

  29. This sounds like the perfect book for my husband. He says he’s not organized because he can only do one thing at a time, but I believe he can get fixed with the help of this book and he loves to read! Thank you in advance and Merry Christmas & Happy New Year.

  30. Congratulations on your book being published. How exciting. I can’t wait to read it. Thanks for the giveaway.

  31. I NEED this book!! Every clean, flat surface in my house turns into a huge pile of clutter!! I am desperately trying to have everything in my house have a home but it is just not working! This would help myself and my husband…who let’s be honest…isn’t helping with the clutter problem. 😉

  32. So how did you know that I am about to begin the process of decluttering our home? LOL I am so ready to move things out of here. My biggest stumbling block is that I do not want to do ebay, Craigslist or FreeCycle. I just want someone to take everything in one shot (from a couch to dinner ware and more). Would love to know if you have a post on the easiest ways to get rid of all the clutter. Had one of the donation trucks come one time and watched as they just threw all the bags in to the truck, hearing things break one after the other so that left a bad taste in donating. I need help! ha ha

  33. Your book looks great! I just looked at the sample pages on Amazon and I can think of several people who could use this book (including myself). Congrats and thanks for the great giveaway!

  34. Awesome Accomplishment…hurray for you!! I love checking your blog everyday to see your ideas. I

  35. I’m hoping to win a copy of the newly released book Clutter Rehab , because with all these kids and pets and work, I can USE IT!!!

    Claire

  36. Wow, do I need that book! I started to “unclutter” too many rooms at once LAST December and I am worse off than where I started. Does it help to unclutter lives, too?
    Nancy

  37. I could so use this book. With six people living in a three bedroom house, there is no place for clutter. I need help getting rid of the clutter and organizing our home. Thanks for the opportunity to enter this awesome giveaway!!!

  38. I completely agree with you! A book on organizing needs to be one that can be picked up and put down easily and doesn’t require reading for 2 hours before finding any useful and helpful information. I have read other organizing books in the past and only a handful have been easy to put down whenever I wanted and still walk away with useful information. The way I see it, if I have time to read a book about organizing, I have time to actually BE organizing. So a tips book is something I could use WHILE I’m organizing. Bravo!!!

  39. Just stumbled across your blog from TipJunkie (and I’m so glad I did!!) It would be such a blessing to win a copy of your book! I have a two and half yr old and a 6mo old, I’m super disorganized right now (it’s stressing me out!) I could use ALL the tips!

  40. To say I need this book would be a terrible understatement.
Pick me, pick me, pick me!
(That is, if you can hear that from under the mountain of clutter under which I call…)

  41. I’m buying a house (yay me!) and moving in a few weeks so I could really use your tips, Laura, to help me unclutter my current space and keep the new house simple and organized!

  44. I learned something just from the table of contents! Congrats! I would love to win:)

  45. I really really really need this book. I am currently laid off and am raising my 8 year old daughter on my own, therefore it would be better to win this than to have to go purchase it. But because I am such a die hard fan of yours, I will muster up the money if I don’t win it… boo hoo. Wouldn’t it be better if you’d just let me win???
    Thanks for considering it 🙂
    Rachel

  62. For the past year, my wife has had to work in another state during the week, home on the weekends. That leaves me home with my two daughters, 16 and 11, except I’m disabled. It’s hard to teach the girls organization while flat on my back! After six years of being physically disabled, and my wife loosing her job for seven months, then leaving for this job; well. the clutter has exploded and my girls don’t know how to help. I can see you made a lot of sacrifices to get this book out on time; I for one appreciate what you’ve done! Thank you.
