Hey everyone! Sorry this is so late going up tonight but I’ve had quite an eventful 30 hours and I still can’t believe it how fast it went. This weekend was my 20th Grad Reunion. A dinner and dance was scheduled for 6:30 pm on Saturday night and at 3:30 pm on Saturday afternoon I got a knock on my door and it was one of my very best childhood friends coming to surprise us all the way from Hawaii! To say I was shocked to see her is an understatement. First I was screaming and then I was crying. I haven’t seen her in over 5 years. I love surprises but rarely can anyone pull one over on me. I’m just too stinkin’ nosey inquisitive but this time they got me and I’m so glad they did. Believe it or not she had to leave tonight (Sunday) already to go all the way back. I was bawling all over again saying goodbye. What a whirlwind 30 hours we’ve had. So much catching up to do, so little time.
Anyway, needless to say, I’m a tad bit tired. So I’m going to keep this short. I’d love to know though whether or not you attended your high school reunion?
Our menu for the week:
Monday: Black Bean Quesadillas
Tuesday: Homemade pasta dinner at friend’s house. For dessert I’m bringing Double Musky Cake (I’ve been dying to try this recipe, it looks delicious!)
Wednesday: Pan-Seared Chicken with Mushroom and Sundried Tomatoes
Thursday: Honey-Garlic Pork Chops served with rice and broccoli
Friday: Hubby’s birthday ~ one of his favorite meals ~ Lasagna, caesar salad and homemade garlic toast with Starbucks Coffee Cake for dessert
Saturday: Leftover buffet
Simple Supper Sunday
WHAT’S ON YOUR MENU THIS WEEK?
Menu Plan Monday guidelines and banner selections are here.

Hi Laura! For some reason, the first link I put in didn’t work… so I added it again! Sorry!

Reunions can be such fun! Hope you recover!

I’m glad to hear that you had a great reunion weekend, Laura! I’ve not lived close enough during any of my high school class reunions to feel like it was worth the time or expense to attend.
It’s been a while since I’ve done Menu Plan Monday, but it’s nice to be back. Have a great week!

Oops, something funny happened and I think I accidentally posted twice…I swear it posted itself the first time, and then I posted on purpose before it showed up- eek eek! If you can, please delete the first entry for Book of Yum. Glad to be back participating in the menu swap after a big move!
BTW Happy birthday! Mine is this Thursday. 🙂 And, my new daughter’s birthday SHOULD be sometime this month as well. Busy busy!

Yeah, can we try that again? I’m wondering what the issue is with my linking skills tonight! 🙂

Oh wow… your story about your friend surprising you from Hawaii almost made me cry. I once flew to London (from CA) to surprise my friends at their 10-year anniversary party. It was one of the best experiences of my life!
That Double Musky cake has me drooling… I am already thinking of the best way to make it gluten free and then make one immediately!

My school was open from 1962-1985, and last month they held a reunion for anyone who had ever attended or taught there. Over 1600 people were there and it was fantastic! It was so much fun to see all these people I hadn’t seen in over 30 years, including some I’d known right from grade 2 up. All of a sudden my social calendar is filling up as some of us want to stay in touch now that we’ve found each other again!

I didn’t go to my 10 year H.S. reunion but I did go to my 5 year college reunion. I think I’ll probably appreciate the whole experience more with more distance..
Quesadilla – we’re having that tonight, too!

You may be tired but that menu doesn’t show it! Yummo!!

I haven’t been to my reunion in a couple years, but I did go to the 20th.
Glad you had fun! Thanks for hosting!

Glad you had a great time Laura! I haven’t attended any of my reunions (coming up on my 30th!). Your meal plan for the week sounds yummy as always! 🙂

Sounds like a fun weekend. I missed my high school reunion last month. We just live too far away to manage it. However, I am planning to attend my husband’s this year since we live so much closer.
Buffie says
I’m glad you enjoyed your reunion. Unfortunately, my high school has never had a reunion that I know of, either for my class or others. For the 15th year we did have a few people organize an informal reunion, but I wasn’t able to make it to that.

my class reunion was this last weekend too!! for some reason they did a 16th????? go figure…anyway, the menu looks great!!

Hello fellow Class of ’89 member. We are having our 20 year reunion in the fall. Can’t wait.

Menu sounds delicious!
I have my 20th HS reunion this year too!
Have a great week!

Good morning, Laura! Sounds like you had a good time. I’ve never been to one of my reunions and don’t think they’d even know how to find me to let me know about it. I did go to one of the man person’s reunions, though, and it was fun. 🙂 Have a great week!

Mine is this summer! I can’t wait! When I was a kid we’d always go out of town for my parent’s reunions and be stuck in a hotel room with a babysitter. It seemed like it was so much fun! Now I get to know what it’s really like — without having to bother with kids in a hotel room! I’m booking my airline tickets this month!
Sherry says
Great looking menu! 😀
My 20 year reunion is this year, too, but I won’t be going. I only went to the school 1 year and don’t keep up with anyone anymore.
Angie (Losing It and Loving It) says
Sounds like you had a great time. Glad to hear it.
I attended my 10 year HS reunion and it was fun. My 20th should be next year. I haven’t heard anything about it though.
We also attended hubby’s 20th.

I submitted my link with the wrong title. I did not know it had CVS in the title. I does go to my menu plan but it should not have that it title. I’m sorry about that. I didn’t know it was on there (i guess from my last mr. linky post?) Anways, please delete.
thanks
Kathy

Yes, I’ve attended my husband’s high school reunion. I had the best time meeting his friends. They were amazed that he got married. (I kept hearing that all night)
I would never go to mine but if the hubby has another one I’ll be there!
Lundie says
Wow – we have a lot of Class of ’89ers here. It was my 20th this year too! We decided to make our 25th the big celebration. Hubby’s 20th is next summer.
Sarah says
Oo! Thanks for sharing the coffee cake recipe. It sounds delicious.
Anne-Marie says
Nope, haven’t attended any class reunions. I’ve lived my life as far away from high school as possible. I have panic attacks when I walk into public school buildings.
Krystal says
What an awesome surprise from your friend!! it does sound like a super busy weekend for you 🙂
Krista S. says
you’re menu looks great!
Nope, haven’t attended any class reunions & probably won’t. Have some classmates on my facebook & overall they are the same people I went to school with. Not interested in re-living high school. LOL
Tania says
The quesadillas look yummy, I might have to try them someday 🙂
I didn’t go to my 10 year reunion, with the popularity of Facebook I’ve seen how just about everyone in my class is doing and that’s good enough for me.
Pamela says
Thanks for the quesadilla recipe, I am trying it on Friday 🙂

Double Musky Cake? We have been to the Double Musky in Girdwood, Alaska. What a fun restaurant, locals drive for miles to eat there.
And yes, I went to my HS reunion, and sometimes I wish I had not – it was fun to catch up with some friends, but for the most part, it was 3+ hours with people who are for the most part strangers to me, because after 20 years, lots has changed!
Pamela says
Oh, and my 10 year high school reunion is next year, I may go, we shall see!
Michelle says
oooh…fellow class of ’89! I had my reunion last month and it was awesome. So glad you had time at yours 🙂

I was sad when my class did not have their 10 year reunion. Thanks to facebook, we may have a 15 year reunion next year!

My high school reunion is next year. I’m not sure if I’ll go, because it is 1100 miles away and time off is at a premium these days. But I may go, after all. We’ll see how it plays out!
purple moose says
Oh, what a fun weekend!! Congrats on your reunion. I didn’t go to my 5 or 15 year. I went to my 10 year. I don’t plan to go to my 20 year, it’s just too expensive to fly back, and I keep in touch with everyone I really want to keep in touch with, anyway, by email etc.
Jena OrganizingMommy says
Good for you! It sounds like you had such a nice time with your friend! I did go to my 20th reunion (two years ago–class of ’87–and it was good. It was good to see everyone again. Some of the kids looked exactly the same, and others I didn’t even recognize.. such are reunions I guess.
Danielle says
Packing a picnic this weekend…these are good foods that travel well. Also a few recipes I posted yesterday!

You can’t go wrong with anything from the Double Musky! They have awesome food. I personally recommend the Double Musky Delight!!!!

I’m just gonna say it’s been over 30 years for me from high school…that’s the last reunion I attended. Haven’t counted as it’s too many!!!ok 36!! It’s fun to see everyone and seems like they are so different than when we were kids in high school. Hopefully we’ve matured…teehee!!

I had planned to go to my 40th reunion last month, but I am paying off old debts and didn’t have the money to fly from WA to TX.

I think your Starbucks cake looks fabulous – sorry it didn’t turn out how you would have liked, but you did a great cover up! 🙂
