Smead Organomics

Smead offers a really neat free interactive tool on their website, called My Organomics, that will provide you with organizing solutions for your office based on your specific work style and organizing challenges.   You start by answering a few questions and choosing the work style that suits you best out of the following five.

  • Visually oriented
  • Detailed oriented
  • Goal oriented
  • Team oriented
  • Task oriented

Using this information Smead will provide you with three solutions and how to instructions that fit your type of profile.

I thought it was fun to play around with and it provides a lot of interesting information.  I’m a visual/task oriented person so I liked reading what products suit my style and was happy to see a few of them that I’m already using.   Of course they also offer you the option to purchase these products through them but you certainly don’t have to and just so you know I’m not affiliated with them or anything.

I practicularly liked reading the descriptions of the various work styles which are given as you go through the process.  Which one do you think you are?

  2. Hi Laura — I gave this a try and came out with Goal Oriented Filing needs. One of the areas I need help most with is project organization. This is a very helpful site. Thanks for sharing.

  3. I was detailed which surprised me, but the item I may really use is 6 pocket folder. Each day you put your list of things you need to do in the pocket and you can focus on it, as well as looking ahead through the week to see what is coming up. I really like it.

  4. To be honest….I was disappointed that Smead markets purely to ‘Business-Minded’ solutions, and does not address solutions for home and busy moms…….Or did I miss it?

  5. Hey Kim, yes this tool is more geared for organizing office procedures although you can apply the applications to a home office as well.

Maybe they’ll consider a feature like you suggested for future online tools. I think it would be pretty popular for sure.
