Clearly it’s not my fault…

Ever wonder where this organizing junkie gets her crazy out of control over the top container obsession from?

Meet my mother’s bathroom closet:

Is it all making sense to you now?

  1. This is so funny, my mother is not like this at all – crammed chaos as far as the eye can see… but in response and in my great rebellion (!) my cupboards do indeed look like this.

  2. It looks like my closet but my oldest daughter didn’t get the organizing bug from me. My daughter got it big time and is very particular about how she stores things! Go figure!

  3. Ah ah ah……..I am laughing out loud right now! That is tooo funny sista! There really is no possibility of you recovering — what if it gets worse? What if there isn’t ever a cure…..EVER…….

  4. Your a closet snooper aren’t you? You are one of those people who look in other peoples closet when your baby sitting lol. Just kidding.
Well at least now you know lol
    Hugs.

  5. It makes sense, but it’s still unnerving.

Not because of you, but because I can identify the origins of some of those containers and tell you where they are in my own house!

  6. *SWOOOOOOON* I <3 your mom! If only I were so lucky!

One day my new bathrooms will be that organized! (I just moved into a new home and as usual, it’s an experiment to figure out what to do in the new place.)

    That is my dream!

  8. This picture is pure bliss…love it! I’m gonna show my husband this one so that he understands that I’m not the only crazy one out there!! I should own stock at The Container Store!! Ha ha ha!! 🙂

  9. So you inherited from your mother? My mother inherits from me. I’m constantly buying her organizing stuff for Christmas!

She’s constantly bringing over stuff from her house that she wants to get rid of, “just in case you need it.”

I think what she means is, “So you can take it to Goodwill so I don’t have to.”

  10. gosh, I wish mine looked like this! 🙂

Oh, and I am having a giveaway over at my blog, I would love for you to come check it out! 🙂

  11. haha same here…. I just found out there’s a store called… The Container Store. I know, apparently I’ve been living under a rock because I never knew this… I haven’t been to the store yet, it’s probably a good thing. I might have a stroke. 🙂

  12. Wow! That is funny! It is not bad. At least you got something useful from your mom. My mom is a worrier, what am I? Yep! I wish I got the organizing gene.

  13. Just a question.. but why does everything have to be in a container?

I don’t like them. I think they look plasticky. I would rather look at the pretty packaging of items. Is this wrong? (I dislike labelling more… unless it is school supplies and clothes that go to school/camp).

I understand the one for the hairbrushes (they roll around and generally look messy and tossed about) but I need to be sold on the benefits of containerization a little more before I buy into it 100%

    1. Great question Marcy! First it’s NOT wrong if you don’t like them…your way is the right way provided you can find what you need when you need it and are able to define some limits and boundaries for your stuff in some way. I find containers really do that for me. I wrote about it here:

      https://orgjunkie.com/2007/11/establishing-limits-and-boundaries-with-containers.html

Anyway I hope that helps you see why I love them so much.

      Thanks!
      Laura
