Show me your baskets!

Have I told you lately how much I love baskets? No? How about containers? Or totes? Or boxes? Or really just about any functional holder of stuff for that matter. I do love them all, they comfort me and I can count on them. When life gets chaotic around me I just have to focus on my lovely baskets and I instantly feel calmer. I see the order and for a moment I forget about everything else.

There are days, as I’m clicking around blogland, that I experience that same feeling just by stumbling upon a picture of sweet organizing bliss. A picture of baskets doing what they do best….establishing limits and boundaries and maintaining order. It’s a beautiful thing! Take for instance, this picture I came across over at Housewife Hiccups:

Love it! She also showed us her “before” pictures, check them out here. How can that not make you happy and provide a little sunshine to your day? Do you feel it? Maybe you need to see more, yes? Well me too which is why next week I want to host a basket carnival. For all of us, to feel a little happy, to share a little love!

On Tuesday (or late Monday night) I’ll put up a Mr. Linky and all you have to do is post a picture of some baskets creating some order in your life and link up here. Easy right? You don’t even have to include words if you don’t want to although if you do then that’s fine too. It’s all good!

Will you join me next week and show me your baskets?

I have lots of baskets and bins and boxes.I use them. But I guess I don’t use them well, or often enough.I am never organized. I try, but I just can’t seem to get there.I’m not a slob or anything. It is just always a struggle to find a place for everything and keep everything in it’s place.

Maybe seeing some of these pictures will help. I sure hope so.

  2. I missed this, but I’m a lover of baskets too – have them all over the place, and even keep a (neatly stacked) pile of them in the pantry for delivering meals to others. I could use a few in my tupperware pantry though. As usual, I learned something coming over here.

  3. LOL. It was only a matter of time before you thought of this carnival! I should have seen it coming after the last basket picture! LOL. Alas, your friend here is sadly in need of baskets in various areas of the house.

  4. I LOVE baskets and boxes and my husband always gets annoyed when I buy more, but I think he’s finally seeing the light and sees the value of containing items AND making them look good. He’s even asked me to help him organize his new cabinets in the garage!

  5. Any kind of baskets, totes, containers, are totally fine. I found some new ones at the thrift store today. Talk about cheering me up from the funk I’ve been under!

  6. i’ve been doing this all week LOL..but no before pictures. i did do a dollar store run to get them too!

  7. I audibly squealed in the container aisle at Wal-mart tonight and all my husband could do was laugh at me. I love all sorts, sizes, shapes of baskets. Oh what I would give to go into other peoples spaces and implement basket usage!!

  8. I am so unorganized. I live in a small house with very limited funds with 5 people. We have to do it do to medical issues BUT I am going to be looking forward to this and getting inspired. I really need help with my entire house[ wanna come visit LOL]

  9. This is so funny! I am completely in love with baskets, well hubby comes in close, but, ummmm. it’s close. 🙂 I was trying to decide if its baskets, vases, boxes or tool toes (they have a bazillion pockets) that I like best. I can’t choose. So I decided I’m a “container” junkie. Any container will do. Oh – you know those old fashioned cream pitchers? ewwwwww, i love them too! 🙂 I’ll so be back for the carnival. Can we post more than one pic? lol

  10. I will totally join you in showing off the baskets 🙂 I have lots, but only recently started using the plastic baskets because of the Monthly Round ups. I have lots of weaved baskets, but I need to use them more for stuff then just to be stashed in that extra space above the cabinet in my kitchen!

  11. Let me take care of a few things and I’ll show you how I use baskets in my living room to help with messes at my house, especially with my crochet supplies and projects 🙂 It may not be till next Sat. though.

  12. Another idea, more for the mamas, which you might like is a basket for mothers of newborns (i like to give them as gifts) which include a burp cloth, diapers, small case of wipes, some calendula diaper cream, pacifier (if using one), magazine and bottled water for mom, and a small changing pad. With my youngest i set these around the house for all the place i might get settled and not have supplies handy!
