More kitchen organizing videos!

roundup.jpg

Watching an organizing video is almost like having a Professional Organizer right there with you in your kitchen telling you what to do. Well it’s the next best thing anyway 🙂 I hope you enjoy the videos I’ve selected for you this week to help you in your quest to get your kitchens organized. They really are terrific!

Remember if you are participating in the Kitchen Monthly Round-up you can email me your link (to your post that includes BOTH your before and after pictures in it) anytime before the end of February. It’s important to put “Monthly Round-up” in the subject line though so it doesn’t get lost in the shuffle. Thanks!

  1. Those videos were really great. Look at me staying up till 2 am to watch them. Thanks for sharing those. Yes, I’m in the kitchen with you this week. I have done a little here and there that I posted on my blog. The other day I got rid of all my glassware. Of course, my husband wasn’t too thrilled about that but now all my cups fit nicely on 2 shelves. I am having difficulty with my cookbooks and recipes from magazines and recipe cards. I have them in all different places. 2 or 3 shelves where my kitchen desk is, 1 shelf near my coffee maker, on top of my counter top where I cook and a big box in my closet as well, not to mention I have recipe cards and books in my laundry room too. It’s so overwhelming. Is there a way to tackle all these efficiently? I did start a menu plan recipe binder so as I’m doing your Menu Plan Monday I’ve been shifting my recipes to that binder (the ones which are tried and true and will repeat recipes). I also purchased a file folder box so I can start sorting into categories. My husband’s complaint is that when he likes a recipe he never sees it again because I can’t find it. I’m hoping that my Menu Plan binder will help with that in the future.

  2. Hi Laura,
I love watching the videos. I have been doing some major cleaning and organizing in my home. I posted pictures on my blog. Drop by when you have time for a visit.
    Hugs,
    Elizabeth

  3. Laura-
I have an idea for all your cookbooks! I’ve started my own blog of my families recipes. If they are worthy of making again, they get posted to my blog. If not and I think if I changed some things I make notes as to what I think should change. If you want to take a look go to: http://recipesbykim.blogspot.com/

This way… no paper and all in one place. You can also access them from anywhere that has a computer – friends homes, work, and your own kitchen (helps to have a laptop!).

  4. Honestly I liked them all but the first one…I wish she had gone into more depth on how she labeled her baskets and what she did when and how…but the rest were great thanks again Laura

  5. I loved the videos especially the one on the drawer organizing. I really need to work on that.
I have a question. I am new here. I noticed in the first comment from Laura she talks about a “Menu Plan Recipe Binder”. Could you tell me more about this please? I am always interested in any ideas on menu or recipe organization.

  6. I watched all of them and wow! I think I need some of those clear containers for my pantry. Just a word of advice – always buy square or rectangle containers for storing things, including left-overs in the fridge. Rectangles are much easier to stack and line up than a circle or round container. Round containers leave you with wasted space.

Thanks for sharing these, Laura. I feel inspired. = )

  7. I liked the energy of the first video, but I agree that we could have used more depth. For overall usefulness, I think the pantry video was best because it showed the process from start to finish, and the same process and principles can be used for any organizing project. Thanks for pulling this together for your fellow junkies!

  8. Thanks for the links to those videos. They were all very helpful, but I think I liked the pantry one and the one where the girl helped her brother organize his kitchen the best. I really like watching the videos because it makes it easier to understand what they’re doing by watching it instead of just reading about it. Thanks for all of the great information.

  9. Sigh ………. SIGH ………..

I spent the weekend organizing three cabinets, and when I uploaded the pics, they were so blurry. I need to get my eyes checked, but needless to say — I only have icky pics to share when I do my post tomorrow! Sorry!!!

  10. Thanks for sharing these. From these I went to more and more and more……you get the idea. lol My daughter 7, even is enjoying them. We were pretty grossed out by something we found on you tube called “how clean is your house” Oh, my! Oops, I’m rambling. Anyway, I did some more cleaning and posted it on my blog. Thanks again for the inspiration!!!!

  11. These were very helpful. I am making a video of my before (done already) and the after. I should probably post them together.

As far as the videos go, some were more professional than others–but all helpful. I liked the gal who helped her brother in New York the best. Thanks for these resources.

  12. I really liked the drawer organizing video. I was just thinking the other day that organizing my drawers is hopeless, but maybe I’m wrong 🙂 This weekend I’ll attempt to tackle at least one of the three drawers that I have in my kitchen, but I might have to ask advice about the other two.

  13. Thanks for the links!! Right after watching them I got my mojo on and I organized and cleaned out 6 drawers in my kitchen, the lazy Susan corner cabinet, and 3 other cabinets in my kitchen. Today I tackled 2 more cabinets already.

  14. Definitely inspiring. And not too very overwhelming.

I think that one thing that I have learned is…it’s FUN if you can do it WITH someone!

But, alas, I’m off to empty the kitchen of its wares and try to put everything back before hubby gets home!

  15. Hi all you organizing junkies,

I wanted to share a new product that I invented and produced, it’s great for organizing your kitchen/pantry/office.
I was so tired of storing my pouch packaging between soup cans and in baskets, so I came up with this product.
See my site http://www.thespinny.com and please send me your comments, I would love to hear them.
    Mimi

  16. I wanted to thank Laura for putting all of these videos (including mine) together in one place. I hope that it was helpful, and check back soon for more organizng videos from abbey claire organizing.
