Wow, only 8 days left in the 30 Day Organizational Challenge! I can’t seem to believe how quickly this month is flying by. How is everyone doing? Are you needing another big push? If you are feeling stuck, where in the process are you stuck and why do you think that is? I’m really interested to know.
As I was doing my cruise around the participant sites I came across Brandie at Skipping Along. She was in the process of organizing all her kids toys….what a great example of following the remove, sort and purge steps! You’ve got to check out what a great job she did. I wanted to highlight Brandie because I love how she got the kids involved. It is so important to teach these types of life long skills to our kids, both directly and also by the example we set. There is a great article over at Organized Homemaker that discusses just this thing so rather than try to write something like it myself, I’m just going to send you there. Enjoy!
Next up, Marcia tagged me for the “show me your handbag” tag. I’m more of a purse on a string type of girl but I do use a cute handbag (that I bought at a crafts fair last year) for a diaper bag so I’m going to show you that:
Debi says
Oh, I love your “diaper bag”! So much cuter than your average diaper bag.
Coach J says
Ok, I’m stuck. Because I’ve done so much already that it’s 200% better than it was before!! I’ve got the desk left to do, and since my husband has his own business and I’m the bookkeeper of said business, all this paper really does have a purpose, and to clean it up means I have to touch it all!! I cannot get motivated to do that. Ugh!! Whine, whine, whine!! I can get it into individual piles, but they just sit there.
Ok, I feel better. Maybe just confessing to you was the medicine I needed. I would post a picture, but I really don’t want to.
Susanne says
Plugging along on the organization. Not really stuck just really slow moving. I’m in the purge part.
You sure you wanna see my purse. This could be scary. :v)
Kara says
I have hardly done anything with my organizing project. I know what I want, we took everything out and purged (yes, I got Hubby to get rid of a few things, but he still has too much!), and then we put the rest back in. I want to build some shelves in there, but need to find some wood and some baskets to store stuff.

Your diaper bag is cute! BTW you should check out the work I did on my Kitchen and bathroom counters…I got to sort using containers! I know you’ll be proud!

Cute diaper bag! And of course it’s organized so nicely 🙂 I can’t believe there are only 10 days left of the challenge. OK, now I’m stressing. So much to do and so little to do it. I better get crackin’
ChupieandJ'smama says
Oh, and I showed my handbag (not that you could call it that).
Thea says
I’m to the point now on Jake’s craft stuff that I can containerize, but I feel myself falling into a familiar trap for me: OVERorganizing. I have a tendency to create too many categories for myself so that when something new comes in, I don’t have a place to put it therefore “forcing” me to create yet another category. It’s frustrating and I’m really having to fight myself on it.

I AM DONE!!!!! Come check it out!!!

I love your diaper bag! I’m using a Spiderman Lunch bag for one right now, and can barely fit two diapers and some wipes in it. But its cute. Cuts down on wasted junk coming with me.
Kim says
I love your bag. I am such a goof. I tagged Janeen also. Well, that’s one that I know will participate…LOL. I’ve got my pictures up if you want to take a peek. I hope your week is going well!
Christine says
That first bag is so cute!! I’m lving vicariously through everyone doing the challenge as I lay like a slug on the couch…
🙂

I posted an update on Saturday. I’m so close, but I’m not sure I’m going to have time for the finishing details. Pray for me.
Jennifer says
Cute bags.
My problem with the storage is not finding the right containers. I know that I need the right storage to make my space really work for me (instead of clearing it off, and it piling back up, which happens now).

HI Laura,
10 days left! Wow!
Yesterday I did some “spider killing” in my garage. I am lucky to have some little cabinets in there but I had not opened them before – I actually didn’t find anything scary in there – but I was worried.
I have been a little frustrated lately because the weather has been cold and yucky so my plan for having the kids play outside while I work on the garage wasn’t happening. If I take them in the garage I don’t seem to get much done 🙂 (they are 5 and 2)
I’m hoping that next week will be better and I will get this thing done!
Hope you are having a great day,
Stacy

I’ve posted my handbag too! Kim tagged me!

I really like your wallet-on-a-string and was wondering the size and perhaps what you are able to keep in it? I find carring a handbag keeps contributing to arm pain & this would be a good solution.
org junkie says
Hi Lyn,
The size is about 7 x 4.5. Not very big at all but it holds all my cards, change, etc.. as well as my cell phone and lip gloss in the second zippered compartment. I found it at one of those bag stores for less than $20.00. I’ve had this one for awhile and have had no thoughts about replacing it so thats how I know it is a great solution for me and maybe for you too.

Well, I took a bit of a break, but I did need a push to get those updated pictures up! I posted the semi-before pix here: http://momnmore.blogspot.com/2007/04/30-day-organizational-challenge-update.html and the semi-after pix here: http://momnmore.blogspot.com/2007/04/more-semi-after-pictures-of-winkys.html
After looking at them a bit, I realize how much I got done in one night! wow. 😉
I expect to finish up this weekend…thanks for being the catalyst to get this done and stop sitting on it; I probably would have waited another month until after the baby shower! Now at least everything will be ready in advance and I can organize (aka play with) whatever treats are received there without being totally flooded.
You’ve also inspired me to work on the “school” bookshelf, linen closet, storage closet, and those blasted photos. I know the contest will be long over with by then, but I’ll probably still post pix just because it’s fun to share what you’ve finally gotten accomplished!
THANKS for the inspiration!!!
Jean says
I’m done but I haven’t published my post yet..I thought maybe I would be to early. I will let you when I get published.
Thanks for all the motivation
org junkie says
Hi Jean,
Yes the day to post will be May 2nd and at that time I’ll put up another Mr. Linky.
Congrats on finishing already!
Laura
Susanne says
Okay, I showed all. It’s up today, today being Friday. :v)
GiBee says
Okay — both you and Susanne tagged me … I guess God’s trying to send me a message about my purse, or something like that!
I’ll share next week, as I’m off now for the weekend. Take care!
dcrmom says
I’m definitely going to play. FUN!! I’ll probably save this for next week, though. I’ve already posted 2x today. @@

Right now I have a big photo tag contest going on if you dare to bare… Bloggers Without Makeup!
