It is no fun when you start out the week with a nasty cold but that is what I’m doing. I spent the whole day lying around on the couch. This cold has gone through my house like wildfire but thankfully I came down with it over the weekend when hubbie was home. I feel blessed about that.
Last week we had over 80 participants for MPM. You ladies (as far as I know we haven’t had any men join us yet) are amazing! Don’t forget to let me know if you are new joining us this week. Someone mentioned that the Homeschooler bloggers were having trouble commenting. Sorry about that…I have no idea if it is something I need to do on my end or not to fix it. Please email me if you are still having problems.
Also quite a few of you mentioned the Foil Pack Creamy Chicken & Mushroom Dinner that was on my menu last week. I just wanted to say that it was absolutely delicious and the whole family enjoyed it.
So here is my menu for this week:
Monday: Chicken soup and grilled cheese sandwiches
Tuesday: Slow Cooker Chicken and Mushrooms (I’ll share recipe on Thurs. if any good) served over rice
Wednesday: Marvelous Mini Meatloaves (didn’t have last week) served with potato patties and broccoli
Thursday: Leftovers
Friday: Penne and Smoked Sausage (S&D Mar/Apr 06 Pg 65)
Crockpot Tip from Better Homes & Gardens Slow-Cooker Favorites:
Don’t Peek! As tempting as it is, don’t open the lid! Every time you open the top of the slow cooker, you release heat from within and add 30 minutes to the cook time.
WHAT’S ON YOUR MENU THIS WEEK?
Jodi says

Hope you feel better and remember to take care of youself when your dh goes back to work. Also, you might want to remind everyone that if they make the foil dinner, that they should use lots and lots of foil or be prepared to clean their oven afterwards! lol

This is my third time to post a menu plan and let me just say that this has been a wonderful blessing to me and our little family! Organizing our meals has helped me a lot. Thanks Laura!
Mommy says
Your Betty Crocker tip made me laugh because it reminded me of how many times I would come home from school and my mom would have the crockpot going. I’m sure each of us 5 kids took a turn lifting the lid to see what was for supper. I’m sure my mom wondered what the problem was…

I just have to tell you, I love your blog. You have inspired me regarding organization, and now w/getting back to planning our menus. Thanks!

Feel better soon!! It’s hard to get motivated to do anything, much less cooking, when you’re under the weather.

I’m so glad that MPM is such a big hit! It’s one of my favorite things to read on Monday mornings!

I hope you feel better soon! God is gracious, though, and He will provide you with the strength to help you go on with all the tasks at home.
I planned to do meatloaf this week and your mini-meatloaf recipe sounds easy. I may just do that recipe instead of the Martha Stewart one I posted.
Thanks for MPM!!! It’s a great encouragement for moms & wives like me who never enjoyed cooking.
Blessins,

I really enjoy the MPM idea! Last week I spent a loooonnnggg time checking out everyone’s menus. I’ve always done my menu planning on Sunday nights, so blogging about them on Monday is easy for me. 🙂

Hi Laura,
How wonderful to have so many participants! I love this.
We have been sick since last Monday and I didn’t make much from our menu last week! Today we are all sick again with something new 🙂
Now it is part of my Monday morning tradition to stop by your blog – even though I am not going to post a menu this week – too much left over from last week – throat too sore to think about eating anything much.
I hope you and your family feel better soon.
I have been thinking about you since I tackled the worst closet in my house last week. When I finish it I will post pictures on my blog and let you know 🙂 This project has involved a lot of containerizing!
Have a good week.

Hope you get to feeling better soon! I dread getting a cold since I can’t take anything! I love the Betty Crocker tip, but I have to say it is so hard to not peek! I am horrible about peeking, I just want to see the progress and smell it a little bit. I guess that is a testament to my need for patience!
Kristen says
Hope you feel better soon!

I’m here again. I need some tips now, as my dh will be starting 3rd shift the end of this month at his new job. I guess I will know more about it when we get into the swing of things. Anyone else have experience going from 1st shift to 3rd? I have a hard time cooking a nice meal when it’s not for ALL of us. Only time will tell if dh will be able to eat at dinnertime or not.
Jenn says
This is such a good idea. I’ve always wanted to participate but have not had my act in gear until this week!

Your blog is what inspired me to make these menus up. ALthough not that great this week, but still a plan MAKES ALL THE DIFFERENCE. And your blog entry about organizing the spices and baking stuff inspired me to organize my spice drawer. What a difference. I’ll post a photo on my blog. Thanks, hope you feel better soon.
Blessed Beyond Measure says
I’m too late to post on this, and “I Dont Have a Clue” is likely not the best choice, but I’ll sit down this morning and figure out a few days anyway.

Hi,
We are following the Rachael Ray cookery book, 365 No Repeats, recipe by recipe for the whole year. We’re up to day 39, so we’re just over a tenth of the way through. I could tell you what we’re eating for dinner every night this year! Before we started this project, I’d have said that was a little extreme…

Hi Laura,
I’ve been following Emma at Heart at Home’s Monday menu planning adventures for the past few weeks and thought I’d join the fun too! Thanks for hosting MPM!
