In honor of this, my 200th post, I thought it might be fitting to do this fun meme on blogging that both Jennifer and Barb offered open invitation’s to.
Do you like the look and content of your blog?
I absolutely love the look of my blog. Susie from Bluebird Blogs designed it for me and I think she really captured the heart of who I am. Organized yet fun, loud, wacky, happy and definitely not serious!
And of course I LOVE the content of my blog. I’m blogging about my favorite subject, what’s not to like….lol. I enjoy poking fun at my “addiction” and making others laugh in the process.
Does your family know about your blog?
Yes! I think most of them read regularly too. My favorite thing is to try and get them to leave comments. Usually the wacky posts like this or this will do it everytime.
Can you tell your friends about your blog?
I’m pretty sure all my friends know about it because they don’t hesitate to tease me about it 🙂
Do you just read the blogs of those who comment on your blog?
No although often I find new blogs to read by visiting someone who has left me a comment. I love comments. I love knowing who is reading and what organizational challenges are going on in their lives. So often my post topics come from those that comment as well as from what I read on the blogs I visit. Thank you to all of you that regularly leave me comments and to all of those new commentors that have been by lately. I really appreciate it! I also have many lurkers as well and I’m totally fine with that too.
And because I don’t often stray from the organizing theme on my blog I do tend to try and infuse a little more of my life and who I am into the comments I leave on the blogs I visit regularly. Organizing is a part of who I am but I’m also a mother and a wife that deals with daily parenting and marriage struggles just like everyone else. I connect with many of the blogs I read for those reasons in so many ways and will leave comments letting them know that I value what they have written and how it has affected me.
As for my blogroll, I try and keep it short on my blog and often I will rotate them around just for variety but I have about 100 that I actually follow in my favorites folder on my computer. I’ve yet to try out bloglines.
Does your blog positively affect your mind?
Oh my goodness, yes. I am so thankful to God that I’ve been able to channel this obsession of mine into something that is beneficial to others. There is no better motivation or pick me up on a bad day than to open up an email from a reader who says they were inspired by something I wrote and how they’ve now got the organizing “habit”. I love, love , love to hear about the “lightbulb” moments….it just makes me feel so proud and giddy and just positively pumped.
What does the number of visitors to your blog mean?
It means I have followers…lol! I love knowing that people read my blog…it gives me the motivation to keep going.
Do you imagine what other bloggers look like?
All the time. I enjoy knowing what another blogger look like…it just makes them seem more real to me. So much so in fact that I have often contemplated putting up my own picture and one day I just might.
Do you think that blogging has any real benefit?
Oh gosh yes! I may not have thought so when I first started but it didn’t take long for me to realize just how big of a community this really was and all the wonderful things that are going on around blogland each and every day. Women helping, praying for, encouraging, challenging and supporting other women…well it is just awesome. I love being a part of it!
Do you think that the blogosphere is a stand-alone community separated from the real world?
Not necessarily. I have made some amazing friendships in blogland that if I were to ever have the opportunity to meet these ladies I would be all over it. In a heartbeat.
Do some political blogs scare you? Do you avoid them?
I know nothing about what is going on out there. I don’t read the newspaper or even watch the news so if I were to stumble across a political blog I am quite certain I would just keep on going. I probably wouldn’t understand half the words they were using anyway and if I have to use a dictionary while reading a blog then it is not for me!
Do you think criticizing your blog is useful?
I criticize and second guess stuff I’ve written all the time but as for other people criticizing my blog well we are all entitled to our opinion. I’m open to it as long as it is said respectfully. I also think that it is always best for someone who has some constructive criticism to offer to send a personal email to the person rather than just leave a comment.
Have you ever thought what would happen to your blog if you died?
Well I’m going to assume that the world will fall into a disorganized mess and not be able to go on!
Just kidding…but I seriously have no idea. I think I’d better discuss that one with my hubbie and give him some clear instructions so as not to let me followers down 🙂
Which blogger has had the greatest impression on you?
I am not even going to attempt to list just one because so many blogs that I read have been inspiring to me for a variety of reasons. I can’t tell you how excited I am each morning to turn on my computer and see how my “friends” are doing. I don’t think I could stop blogging now if I tried.
Which blogger do you think is the most similar to you?
I don’t know how to answer this one. I mean I refer to myself as a freak for goodness sake and I wouldn’t want to be rude and call anyone else that although some of you are clearly on the crazy side which is precisely why I love you.
Name a song you want to listen to.
Well what I have playing in my van right now over and over again is “Do, Re, Me” by Julie Andrews in the Sound of Music. I love to belt that out at the top of my lungs while driving. What that has to do with blogging though, I’ll never know!
Whew that was a long one. My gosh it took me TWO hours to write. Yikes!
So I have two open invitations for you:
1. If you enjoyed reading this, go ahead and do it for yourself but be sure to let me know so I can go on over and read it!
2. In honor of my 200th post I would love to invite you to leave a comment and say hello and if you’d like I would love to hear about which of my organizing posts has been the most helpful for you.
Thanks everyone!!

Loved reading your answers to this meme! And I just want to say that I love your blog – you motivate me, inspire me, and remind me that organizing my home one little area at a time doesn’t have to be a scary, daunting endeavor!

I second the Bloglines “must.”
You do know you get to create FREE FOLDERS (albeit virtual) for sorting and using your favorite blogs, right?

I stumbled upon your blog, through a link from another blogger, a few weeks ago. I am totally inspired. I’ve been married for a little over 3 years and have two boys, 2 yrs and 10 mths. I find it so difficult to keep up sometimes! I love finding inspiration from other bloggers! Keep up the great work and congrats on your 200th post! p.s. Bloglines is wonderful, especially if your rotating the blogs you put on your site! You can simply set some to private and some public in just a click of the button!

I stumbled on your blog a week ago and have found it exciting and rewarding. I plan to implement my own organizational day…called Tidy Up Tuesdays and Free from clutter Fridays where I will be giving away my items that are no longer useful in my own home. I love organizing and have found your site to be an encouragement. I plan to do your meme today, if I can get my daughter back from the doctor in time. The flu bug has hit my home! Please visit my site and let me know what you think of my ideas. Nice to have someone out there that understands the drive to organize!

I just found your blog this week and let me say how much I LOVE IT! I have moved it up on my “Blogs To Read” list already! I love to organize although my house doesn’t always appear that way. But HEY, it is a constant work in progress, right? Anyway, thanks for your blog devoted to organizing and Keep up the good work!

Laura,
I love your blog. I read it daily, but only comment every once in a while. Your organizing information has helped & encouraged me so much in my home. I have taken a lot of your ideas and used them in my own home. The post that has inspired me the most is your lightbulb & batteries post http://orgjunkie.blogspot.com/2006/07/lightbulbs-and-batteries.html. I referred back to this post many times when I was setting up my “office closet” that came out of the 30 day organizational challenage, which took me more than 30 days.:) I realized I did not do it exactly the way you did it, but I found a way that works for me – thanks to you.
Sorry to be so long, but thank you for your blog!
~Betty~

Hi Laura! My favorite posts are all the ideas, but the ones that help me the most are the ones about purging and having a place for everything. 🙂 HAPPY 200th! Yeah!

Hi Laura, I look in all the time & enjoy your blog. Thanks for showing us it’s ok to admit we have an organizing adiction. (sMiLe) I’ve struggled to get organized, eventhough I love every minute of it. We live in a TINY house with a few kids, we homeschool and are BROKE. It makes it difficult to try to “get it together”. I appreciate all of your inspiring posts. I LOVE pictures the most. I’d say, I’m still trying to work on the purging thing. Sometimes I’ll go crazy & get rid of almost EVERYTHING, really. So far, I have yet to really regret it. Things come into this house A LOT, (gifts & such) so I keep working through the clutter and have yet to really establish a place for everything and any good working systems. (though we’ve tried MANY different ideas) I know everyone says you don’t REALLY have to move to a bigger place, but I’m beginning to think we do. I’ve thought about finding a professional, but I do think we’ll be moving, so I’ll wait and see where we wind up next. Anyway, sorry this was so long.
Thanks again for the inspiration!!

Laura,
First of all let me say Congratulations/Happy 200th Post!!!
You truly are an inspiration and a funny one at that! I have been reading your blog for a few months now and I come by every day. I have to get my OrgJunkie fix before I start my day! 🙂 I really enjoy Menu Plan Monday and must say it has been the most inspirational for me. I loved your art center post and did the same in my home. I love ALL of the before/after pictures! What a way to motivate others! Which, by the way, I’m hoping to have some before/after pictures myself soon (I’ll let you know)!!! Before this becomes a post itself…I just want to say THANK YOU for what you do! I love it!

Hooray for 200 posts! The fact that you have written 200 posts on organizing really shows you know your stuff 🙂 !!
Bloglines. Bloglines. Bloglines. It scared me a little to set up my account, but it really was a piece of cake. It has made it so much easier to read all the blogs I am obssesed with … you plan your menus so you can save time, now you can use Bloglines to save even more!
P.S. I have seen this meme on a few sites now and I have loved reading everyone’s responses. One of these days I will get to it …
Thanks for all your inspiration!

Menu Planner Monday has been a godsend. I’m so much more organised at mealtimes and this, I am sure is saving me money. I’d never heard of leftover days either, but they really do empty my fridge! Thanks for being there for all of us.

I love it when someone I know does this blog meme. It’s one of the best memes I’ve come across yet.
I agree with you about the look of your design. It’s absolutely you, perfect in fact. And I’m amazed that you haven’t set up bloglines yet. It’s the ultimate organizing tool, especially if you follow a lot of blogs. It saves me countless hours wasted checking in where no new posts have been done.
You should think about putting your photo in your profile. Everyone would love it. And yes, I’m quite sure if you died, the world would become a complete disorganized mess. And I also think you’d come back to haunt us until we “fixed” it! 🙂
I love your answers.

Hi! I’m so glad you did this. I loved your answers and especially hearing about your comments on other blogs–you’re right that we can learn more about you. I loved your 100 things post for that very reason.
As far as what has stood out to me, it’s the designated space theory. If I run out of room, something’s gotta go!

Ok so this may sound corny but I think that organizing advice is sort of like missionary work. For those of us who are challenged in this area you are ministering to a need. I have often suffered bad feelings from being unorganized. The tips here and the closet contest have helped me. Just knowing that I can get organizing support here is wonderful!

I’ve been reading your blog for a few months now and spent an evening going back through the archives too. I really do feel like some of your addiction is rubbing off on me.
Here is an example: I just went to the Dollar Store tonight and I wasn’t going for this, but I ended up coming home with a couple of random storage bins. I just kept hearing your voice in my head telling me buy them, because at some point I’ll want to containerize and they’ll come in handy with my organizing. So, I left with about five containers and now I need to get to work.
Thanks for inspiring me to get my house and life more organized and have fun in the process!

I am a new reader here. You have inspired me to organize a lot of my drawers in my home. Just accomplished two tonight! Thanks for the tips!
