Freaks R Us….

Many people are feeling the burden of chaos and disorganization. I don’t know many people who can function well in this kind of environment….conciously or subconciously….either way your body, mind and soul will feel the affects of it. The Chaotic Mom has given herself the challenge of breaking her disorganization habit in three weeks one step at time and she is blogging about her progress. I applaud her for her honesty and her desire to recognize that she is in a disorganizational slump and the fact that she wants to do something about it. It isn’t easy. Life gets in the way of our good intentions and it can be overwhelming. So The Chaotic Mom has given me an idea…….a way to offer support and encouragement to those that dare to participate…..a challenge I offer up to you…..

the 30 day organizational challenge.

Do you have an area in your home that has been bothering you, that you have been wanting to get organized for awhile, that you are tired of looking at, that has been stressing you out….now is the time to do something about it! I want to help….my intention is not to overburden or overwhelm you but support you and have others in blogland support you. Clutter is not our friend….lets change that and kick this enemy to the curb….de-cluttering one area or room will do wonders to free your mind and lift your spirit.

The challenge if you choose to accept it is this….organize one area or room in your house and post the before (don’t be scared) and after pictures on your blog. On December 6th I will put up a Mr. Linky for you to link up to so we can all share in your success. If you feel up to it post your before pictures now and let me know about it in the comments section of this post. I would love to cheer you on! If you don’t know where to start in your chosen area I would be more than willing to offer up some suggestions. Past posts on purging, organizing and designated areas may also help you.

Oh and what would a challenge be without a PRIZE….yes we must have a prize….I still have to work out the details on that but oh ya we have to have a prize. I’ll also need a banner so stay tuned for more information. Isn’t this exciting….

a club…..my very own organizing club….see who said dreams don’t come true……you’ll join me right???

  1. woohoo! sounds like a great idea.
    I have several areas, which one shall I choose? hmmmm . . . . .

  2. Well I’ve already posted my pics on my blog, but I’ll take my “Kick the pig” one and add organizing there. Live like a pig, eat like a pig, right! Both have to GO!!!!

  3. This is too funny! I took a picture of my scrapbook room this morning because it was really bothering me. I have project after want-a-be project on that table and on the floor that hasn’t been finished or hasn’t been started and it’s driving me crazy. I posted on my site 8 things I wanted to get done in there to clean it up. So I’m right on track with you. Great minds must think alike!LOL

  4. I’m in for the challenage. My first step is my paperwork. I am determined to find a system that works for me. If you have any suggestions or ideas I’m open. Thanks Laura for sharing your gift.

  5. Hi, thanks for your comment on my horrible hidey-hole (I have plenty of disorganised hidey-holes) but which one to choose for your challenge? My paperwork, like betty’s, could do with a revamp and I have an empty filing cabinet just waiting for using :o)

  6. Reading your post brought on a host of ambivalent feelings. First I felt excitement, “Oh good, some motivation to finally attack my closet.” Then fear, “Wait a minute, I can’t post pictures of my closet. No one will ever talk to me again…it’s that horrible.” Then anxiety, “What if I get half-way through the project and quit? That would be so like me.” Then I got motivated again, “Oh – maybe I can do my closet AND the computer desk.”

And now… well, I don’t know. I want to join in, but I’m going to have to work up to it.

Either way, this is a fantastic idea.

  7. Katrina, silly girl. This is a no pressure challenge! And believe me, everyone out there has a “closet” they don’t want anyone to see. Case in point…refer back to my post of June 6th…our dirty little secret….yikes…I’ll show you mine if you show me yours…lol!

  8. Oh I am afraid, very afraid, but I want to join you! 🙂 What a fun idea! I will probably pick the play room because no matter how often I organize it, I have to keep re-doing it, and it takes me the most time to clean.

P.S. You would be proud-hubs & I started organizing our bedroom and purging clothes this week! I might post about it because the bedroom is supposed to be the nicest haven of all!

  9. It is exciting! There are several areas I can think of that I’d like to work on. I’ll decide which and let you know! And a prize…cool!

  10. Sigh I already know what areas I’m going to be getting tough with. But I’m already breaking out into hives knowing I’m going to have to be militant in my purging.

  11. I need inspiration with my craft area of my basement. That is all mine. The rest of the basement needs DH’s help.

  12. Oh this comes at the perfect time. I followed one of your links yesterday (organizing home) and posted a question about organizing my pantry.
I will take some before shots…gotta warn you, it won’t be pretty.
This will give me plenty of time to get my butt in gear and get my pantry in line.
With everyone’s help…I can do this!!

  13. I have a “toy room” that has not been functioning as a toy room since December (more of a work room). I wonder if I can get it all straightened out before the one year anniversary approaches… 😉

  14. Can I join your organizing freaks club pllleeeease! I just recently started a blog for this very purpose. More support the better. I may have an organized house sooner than I thought. Thanks for your great ideas. I’ll have to pick just one for the challenge tonight and post it. yea!

  15. Okay, I’m in. I have a horrible office that I was going to be dealing with anyhow, so why not make it public?

  16. Laura this is such a great idea, but now I’m confused as to which area to tackle, I feel I have so many to pick from LOL

Do we REALLY have to share the before pics? LOL

I’m sorry I haven’t been by the past week, you know what’s been going on and thank you for the sweet comments you left, they mean a lot 🙂

    Hugs,
    Sandra

  17. Okay…I posted my pictures and my cry for help. I am so glad you are doing this. I hope you can help me! Lord knows I need it!

  18. I’ll have to think about this…not which room to pick
(I hate that my kitchen is overcome with papers and stuff) but whether I can take something else on now!!! I’ll get back with you. 😉

  19. whoa nellie!!! talk about throwing down a gauntlet! LOL! I have a friend who needs EVERY room, closet, hard surface… square inch of her home organized! how’s that for a challenge? i’ve tried to help her with it in the past but even I am overwhelmed by it! i’m single and have a small house so mine, thankfully, doesn’t have too many issues… but hers… whew! where do you start? what do you need? and on and on and on…
