Out of clutter, find simplicity…

Doesn’t that sound wonderful? Out of my organizing file I bring you an excellent article I read last year with regards to organization and our emotional well being. Author Laina Shulman discusses the question “why does clutter have such a large effect on our mental and spiritual well-being?” Read the whole article here.

Would you agree? Does de-cluttering your surroundings do wonders to free your mind and lift your spirit?

  1. I would agree whole-heartedly. It’s much easier to think when there aren’t stacks of clutter around!

  2. I’m agreeing even though I probably, okay, okay, I DO have a long way to go. On weekends when the family tends to let things go abit I find myself getting crankier and crankier as the morning progresses until I finally realize it’s because of all the clutter laying around that everyone just leaves.

I was at a friend’s house for the first time, a self-admitted pack-rat. It was very distracting trying to visit with everyone. My eyes were always drawn to the piles of clutter covering every surface. You could not tell one knick knack from another. It was overwhelming. Not relaxing at all.

  3. Yes, this is true for me too! Oh, I am amazed by your gift storage organization! Does organizing come naturally to you as well as keeping it that way? I go through spurts of creativity with organizing, but usually I have to work at it-hard. It must be nice to simply keep it that way!

  4. Nothing in the whole world makes me happy than total and complete lack of clutter. I absolutely can’t stand “things” and “stuff” everywhere. Ask anyone who’s ever been in my home or peeked in my closets and storage spaces. I’m a minimalist. It’s aggravating that there are so many things that are just necessary, like say, furniture, that clutter things up. Sigh….. We are kindred spirits.
