She was wondering if I had any suggestions for her as to how to organize this space under her bathroom sink. Of course I have suggestions! In fact if she didn’t live half way across the country I would have gone there to do it for her…lol. Unfortunately this will have to do.
The very first step in the organizing process after having determined which area you will tackle is to take everything out of the cabinet. Next sort through the items and purge what is old, not used or simply doesn’t belong in a bathroom. Next step, CONTAINERIZE. Gosh I love that word. There are so many great products on the market now that will work well for this area. Luckily she lives in the city with a Solutions store right near by! The best way to organize under a sink is to take advantage of the vertical space. However under sinks can get a little tricky because of the plumbing you have to work around. I suggest baskets/containers that utilize the area on either side of the plumbing to maximize space rather than the systems that fit around the plumbing. Here are some suggestions with pictures for you.
This first one is my favorite although it will cost a little bit more. Pull out wire shelving can be used on one side of the cabinet and then on the other half of the cabinet you can use a basket (see example below) for the cleaning supplies.
Other great stacking products include these:
Another idea is to use drawers like these but without the wheels.
Here is the example of a great type of basket with handles for storing cleaning supplies…this way you can just pick up the basket and go. I do recommend a cleaning basket in each bathroom to make cleanups quick and easy. These baskets come in all sizes.
You need to remember when placing your stuff back into your new baskets that you keep all similar items together and if you have a bunch of smaller items you may need to have a basket within a basket (one of my favorite tricks). I’m including a picture of underneath my bathroom sink just so you can see how I’ve done it.
Finally if you don’t have one of these over your toilet I do highly recommend it as another storage solution especially when you have curious toddlers.
My sister in law said she will send an “after” picture to share with you and I can hardly wait.

Your friend is going to have a nice bathroom cabinet! I have a bunch of baskets like the green one. I bought them at the dollar store and I use them all the time to transport things.

I’ve recently hired a cleaning lady to come every other Monday. I furnish all the cleaning supplies..right now, they are being stored in a hard plastic carrier/tote used for cleaning, that stays in the bathtub that we never use, hidden behind a shower curtain. Would like to find something that would be easier to store and lighter for her to carry from room to room. Any suggestions? Maybe buy smaller size cleaning products or buy economy size and fill smaller bottles? Still got to store the supplies regardless of the size. Lack of storage is a problem in this house as we downsized 6 yrs. ago. The plastic tote/carrier is heavy to begin with, then you have the weight of the cleaning supplies.

What about just a bucket with a good handle…would that be easier? I do like the idea of perhaps using smaller sizes that you just refill, that makes sense to do. Another thing to do would be to try and narrow down the number of products being used. In our house we only use three cleaning products…Comet, Windex and a general all purpose cleaner. Hope that helps!
