5 Quick Tips for an Organized Bathroom

The following is a guest post about some quick tips for an organized bathroom from regular contributor, Morgan from Morganize with Me.

I recently helped my daughter reorganize her bathroom. This project was what you might call, long overdue. Similar as to when I helped Berkley organize her “tween” bedroom, I find that if I provide her with easy to follow systems she is able to keep up with the overall organization of her room, which always makes momma happy!

Berkley has an en suite bathroom (lucky!) and while it’s her own bathroom, it is on the smaller side. Here’s how we organized her bathroom using five quick tips!

Tip #1: Towel bars are fine, but hooks are so much easier (for children and adults alike)

Behind her bathroom door I installed two hooks. I left the towel bar in place for another spot to hang things, like wet swim suits or wash cloths. Also, notice the clock – this helps to keep her on time!

Tip #2: Line drawers and cabinets as necessary

Berkley has two teeny tiny drawers, with not really enough room to even hold trays or dividers. So, instead of using trays, I lined them with contact paper (affiliate link). This is a great way to add a little design detail and to also keep the cabinets from getting damaged. I’ll probably do this on bottom cabinet too, I just haven’t gotten around to that yet!

Tip #3: Store and stack vertically

Because Berkley’s bathroom cabinet has only two small drawers, I decided to purchase a five pack set of plastic bins (affiliate link). These storage bins are one of my favorite organizing tools. We categorized things by like items, stacked them underneath the sink, and labeled them to make it easy to see whats in each bin. We placed items in here that are not used on a daily basis.

Tip #4: Create counter top storage

I repurposed three buckets I had been storing in my spring storage bin. (These are $1 buckets I had picked up at Target.) One bucket for make-up brushes, one for face products, and one for tooth stuff. When you work to organize a space, look around your home for any unused supplies that can be repurposed.

Tip #5: Coordinate towel colors by bathroom (or by person)

By color coordinating bath towels and wash cloths by bathroom or person, it makes it easier to keep things organized. There is no confusion as to whose towel belongs to whom. Berkley’s towels and wash cloths are grey, which also matches with her room colors. With limited drawer space I stack the wash cloths on the top of the fifth bin. This storage bin at this point doesn’t have anything to store! #roomtogrow

We of course did some purging while we reorganized things and for the most part her bathroom is staying much more organized. Simple solutions for the win!

I just came back to say “Thank you” again for teaching me to get my house together. Nearly 9 years I posted in a link up (remember those?) of how I used your containerizing to clear up a big mess in my then new bathroom. This weekend, I redid it, after purging junk, and again used containerizing. I cant believe something so simple makes such a tremendous difference. Thank you. Again.
