Hi everyone! Here we are at the end of August and school starts for us today! Boo! For those that have been back for awhile now how are you settling in? Is having a meal plan helping with the chaotic days? Menu planning is more important now than ever. With school back in and after school activities picking up speed, it’s so easy to just do drive through for dinner. BUT with a menu plan you can stay one step ahead of your busy days by figuring out easy simple realistic meals to make in advance.
Kids and Menu Planning:
I just have to tell you how proud I am of my daughter. As you know she left for University at the beginning of the summer and she loves texting me pictures of the yummy meals she is making. She is even menu planning and grocery shopping the sales!!! I started menu planning when my daughter was 8 years old and now she’s 18. She has watched and participated in menu planning from the beginning and eventually took over a large amount of the household dinner cooking. I just want to encourage you to hang in there moms. Let your kids be involved, I know it’s so hard when they are little, but your perseverance will pay off. Let them plan dinner one night a week, let them look through recipe books, give them little jobs while you are making dinner like washing veggies or grating cheese. It is so worth it especially when they can assume more of the responsibility in their teen years. The day will come when they’ll be cooking you dinner from start to finish, sweet!
My Pretty Fridge:
So last week I shared a silly post titled 3 Odd Things That Make Me Ridiculously Happy and many of you loved my pretty fridge and wanted to do your own too, whoot! That makes me so happy. It’s so easy to do, just pick up any placements (mine are from Walmart) and if necessary trim to fit. Fun right?
My Weekly Menu Plan:
Monday: Paleo Pancakes (first day of school needs to be easy!)
Tuesday: Spicy Lemon Paprika Chicken Thighs served with broccoli
Wednesday: Taco Salad with Creamy Cilantro Dressing
Thursday: Leftover buffet
Friday: Pizza Party Friday Night! and for me Paleo Coconut Shrimp
Saturday: Pork and Apple Meatloaf
Sunday: YOYO (you’re on your own!)
Have a wonderful week everyone!!

Wonderful to hear about your daughter meal planning. I hope it rubs off on my kids too.

Thank so much for hosting. I could not agree more about having your kids help and be involved in the kitchen. My 3 teenagers love being in the kitchen. They take turns preparing one of our meals during the week. They have always helped even when they were really little and it would have been faster and easier to just do things myself.

I love your fridge! I have an olderish fridge and I hate the way it looks inside, I have totally got to give this a try.
