The following is a guest post from regular contributor, Rachel at Useful Beautiful Home.
I’m back with more cabinet door organizing ideas. This time I’ll narrow our focus to bathroom cabinets. There aren’t as many ideas for the bathroom as there are for kitchen cabinet doors, but the ideas are still inspirational. Not only are these great ways to incorporate the back of bathroom cabinet doors, but most of them use inexpensive and creative items for the actual organizers.
1. Toothbrush and Toothpaste Holder
source Cars Trucks and Teething Rings
This is a great way to separate everyone’s dental care items while making them easily identifiable. I lost count of how many character cups we’ve received over the years of attending birthday parties. Why not put those colorful cups to good use and keep toothbrushes sanitary at the same time?! Creative and inexpensive organizing tools make the best combination.
2. Pocket Organizer Storage
source Imperfect Homemaking
This is another brilliant resource for little out-of-pocket expense. She made great use of these individual pockets for organizing bathroom cleaning supplies, but you could store all kinds of other bathroom related products. Lots of versatility with this genius idea!
3. Hair Styling Accessory Storage
source The Hats of a Homemaker
This is a quick and easy way to keep all those little hair clips and bands separated out. In a drawer, they tend to all jumble together if not stored in separated compartments. Using containers affixers to the door leaves more space in bathroom cabinets and drawers for larger sized essentials.
4. Hair Tool File Folder
source Beauty Riot
This is a brilliant use of space and container creativity. Using everyday items for storage solutions is a great way to cut costs while keeping cords and tools contained.
5. PVC Curling Iron Holsters
source Family Handy Man
Yet another creative way to organize problem areas in the bathroom. Curling irons and their cords always manage to tangle upon themselves. I love that a smaller piece of PVC pipe is used for just that purpose, corralling the cords. Depending on how many curing and/or flat irons you have, this could be the answer to keeping them tangle-free.
6. Nail Polish Accessories
source Hi Sugarplum!
Organizing nail polishes, perfumes and mani/pedi supplies on a spice rack is brilliant. Inside a cabinet door is perfect for those small bottles since it’s typically a narrow space. I also love Cassie’s perspective on the topic when she shares, “Having a confined space keeps me from impulse shopping too, since I know there is no more room on the rack.” Head over to Hi Sugarplum and read more about her bathroom cabinet organizing, she has lots organizing eye candy to share!
7. Bobby Pin Storage
source Super Woman
This idea is one of those game changers that makes an annoying problem disappear with one simple trick. I love how Brittany made this quick 2-minute fix to keep those little metal tools and bobby pins orderly.
8. Hairspray and Styling Products
source 320 Sycamore
The back (or inside) of a bathroom cabinet door is an obvious place to stash tall bottles of hairspray, gels, creams, etc. However, I had to share Melissa’s easy idea to use a $1 shower caddy as the organizing container. Simple, inexpensive, and smart!
9. Hairbrush Holders
source The Creative Imperative
I have a floating hairbrush problem and this could be the answer! My hairbrush doesn’t have a “place” since we moved into our current home. Brushes can get tucked just about anywhere, but if there isn’t a designated spot, they can become an annoying problem. What I like best about Jamie’s DIY (pictured above) is how she made her hairbrush holders from soup cans. Now that’s impressive organizing!
10. Bathroom Cleaning Supplies
source DIY Inspired
Another obvious storage solution is to keep bathroom cleaning supplies on the backside of your cabinet door. Above pictures another shower caddy put to use behind a closed door and yet it works remarkably well.
11. Jewelry Organization
source Delightful Order
Finally, using the inside of a bathroom cabinet door to organize jewelry is another brilliant use of potentially neglected space. I love how DaNita made her jewelry display in an upper cabinet at eye level. What a great way to have all your morning essentials in one convenient location!

You’re welcome, Dinah! I thought it was super smart to use a shower caddy designed to hold extra weight, whether shampoo bottles or cleaning supplies! Thanks for mentioning it’s still holding strong. Have a great weekend! 🙂

My daughter used a full size clear shoe pocket organizer during her college days and said it was the best idea she used. It kept all of those misc things close at hand and organized.

curious, for the toothbrushes what’s being used to hold the cups in place on the wall?
Laura Wittmann says
You can use 3M Command Velcro strips to attach to the wall.

I’ve been wondering how I can tame my necklaces. Thank you

Great ideas! I did the white baskets on the inside of the cabinet, but I wanted to keep little objects in them (like Q-tips) so I wove a ribbon through the sides to block the openings. Just a caution, be sure to check that you can close the cabinet door before you place the baskets. Mine had to be set a little off center to avoid hitting the door frame. 🙂

I too have some character cups I would like to do the same thing with, my only question is how did you get them to stick to the wall?
Laura Wittmann says
Use 3M Command Hooks Christine, that should work!
