Updated below.
Did anyone catch the season premiere of Homemade Millionaire, hosted by my BFF Kelly Ripa, last week? I didn’t get to see it because I don’t have cable but I was able to find a clip of it on You Tube. I watched this clip below and nearly fell off my chair. One of the products featured is EXACTLY what I’ve been looking for. It’s the second invention you see in the clip and it’s hands down brilliant!
Did you see it? Did you see the organizational power of the Styling Station. Oh my word, I must get my hands on this product!
The bathroom in my new house has aggravated me since I moved in. The cords of both my hair dryer and straightener hang down over the drawer making the drawer a nuisance to get into and you know how I feel about annoyances! I have been racking my brain trying to come up with a solution and until now have been completely stumped. This product will change my life. My friends always laugh at me when I say that but nothing beats a fantastic organizing solution to make the world a better place 🙂 From what I can tell the whole cabinet fits over the wall outlet (behind the drawer there) hiding all the ugly cords. So brilliant I could weep. WEEP! That’s how badly I want this product!
From what I understand Marcy McKenna, the creator of this product, went on to win on the show which means her product will now go into production (!) and appear on the Home Shopping Network sometime soon. I hope soon. Seriously I can’t wait. I’ve totally been stalking Marcy on her site and on her Facebook page and I won’t rest until I have the Styling Station in my hot little hands!
Please tell me I’m not alone in my hair obsessive ways. Would you buy something like this?
Updated: Marcy herself sent me a message on Facebook, how exciting is that! Unfortunately she did tell me that the wait for the Styling Station is expected to be about 3 or 4 months. I’ll definitely keep you posted as I know more. I’m going to try real hard to be patient.

I really like that I hate the clutter and working in a small bathroom, so I found this styling station and put it in my extra bedroom and I love it. http://www.gotosalon.com/hair-care/styling-stations/beauty-salon-furniture-styling-station-cherry-wood-cabinet.html

I so need one of these. I have been dreaming of a drawer where all of my hair appliances can live and be plugged in and have cord containage. But this is wonderful. I will definitely be investing in this!!

Uses the concept of the charging stations. Brilliant. I wouldn’t personally need it, as I have simplified my hair styling process, but my daughter sure could use one!

the marcey stying station is just like the jirah ars system but the ars system is fully patenterd .
Emily says
Loved it! Especially since all the appliances in the cabinet matched 🙂 Seemed a bit pricey though. Hopefully they will lower the price a bit when they bring it on HSN.
Laura says
Emily where did you see a price? I couldn’t find that although now I’m scared to know 🙂
Emily says
She said on the show that the current price is $149.99 But the guy from HSN said that he didn’t think they would be able to have it for more than $99.99. Hopefully if they start a mass production of them, they will be able to lower it! I would have to think long and hard about spending $150 0n it.
PS. Super excited about being in on your book giveaway!
Laura says
Oh my yes I’m hoping they can get it made for less as well. $150.00 is steep for sure. Yikes! Can’t wait to see what the final result is.
Melinda says
Yes, I WANT the styling station!!
Tara says
I love this too!!! Funny how such a small organizational change can make such a big difference in your everyday quality of life!
Tanna says
LOL, I did not see the show but saw the previews and immediately thought of you! 🙂
Samantha Palacio says
Oh yes! I want it!!!
Susanne says
Now that is cool and totally brilliant that it fits over the outlet! You should get her to sell it through your shop.
Laura says
Oh I would love that! I guess it all comes down to the price and functionality. Keeping my fingers crossed I love it as much as I think I will! 🙂
Adrienne says
You are not alone and I would LOVE one of these…keep us in the loop on when they are available!!!
Stephenie says
I bet you could make one. You should hook up with Ana White to make a homemade version. I follow both of your blogs. I aspire to have at least one organized drawer or cabinet in my home in 2011! Thanks for all your tips!
Laura says
Oh yes I do hope Ana reads this post 🙂
Lydia M. says
Ha!! I just added myself to the notification email of when it comes out …… and I too shall practice lots of patience 🙂 ? it already
Emily says
I don’t actually style my hair (the joys of straight follicles!), but I am drooling over this cabinet in theory. It’s almost enough to make me buy a blow dryer and learn to use it! 🙂
Sue says
I don’t do woodworking but this doesn’t look like it would be too difficult to build. Is your husband handy? It looks like a basic box with various size cubbies inside it and some molding on top and bottom. If you built it yourself or had a woodworker built it for you- it could be customized to fit the space you have to put in. Just a thought!
Laura says
Husbands not too handy unfortunately and neither am I LOL
Amy Foxx says
I watched the show and I think the thing that would make this hard to duplicate is the fact that the cabinet is fire-proof and when you close the door it powers everything down. If I understood it correctly! Yes, there are many cabinets out there, but I think these features would put it on top.
Annie says
You are a complete freak….said with all the love in the world!!
Love you and miss you tons my friend!
Laura says
Ahhh I’ve missed you calling me that! Love you too!!
Colleen P. says
In the meantime-you could wind the cords around a broom handle for a day or two so that they go all springy and they’ll not hang down so far. Would it be enough to keep them out of the way then?
Laura says
Yes I definitely need to do something to keep them under control without having to tie and untie them. Hmmmm
Crystal & Co says
How cool is that? I was just thinking the other day I need something to keep my flat iron, hair dryer, etc in…. how awesome!
And Kelly Ripa is my BFF, too! Thanks for sharing. 😉
Maddy says
I love this idea …
I always wonder why I can’t think up these millionaire ideas myself. Sometimes it seems so simple … like the blanket with arms? That was was a multimillion seller.
I’ll have to watch for this when it hits the shelves.

Michele says
I watched the show. I can’t wait to get one. She had the BEST idea. It is one of the ideas you say “Why didn’t I think of that?”
Marcy McKenna says
Hi Ladies!
I wanted to thank you all so much for your kind words and enthusisam about the product. Yippee!!! We are working very hard to have it to you in the next three to four months. Anything electrical always takes time due to UL certifications, etc. I’m enjoying your feedback, and as a result am working overtime to try to bring it in at a $99 price point. We’re simplifying some design details to do just that! Thank you all again for your support and excitment!
Regards,
Marcy McKenna

Brilliant product! I think both me and my daughter need one! Thanks so much for sharing this! Angie xo
Lina says
I LOVE THIS THING!! I share a bathroom with my brother and it’s really small so I do my hair in my room or my parents bathroom…I have burned countless bathroom cabinets and my biggest fear is to leave the house and had left my flat iron on…When I saw this on the commercial I almost lost it!! I want to buy it right now!!
Tammy Hill says
I am wondering where the power source comes from. I could not see a cord. I am not electrically gifted. Do you have to have it installed or put it near an outlet or just what? I love the idea. Have two little girls who are so into getting their hair done fancy. We could use this for many, many years to come.
Crystal says
I love this! I can’t stand pulling my blow dryer and straightner out and putting it back everyday. It’s a pointless hassle. This invention is so simple why didnt anyone think of it before? 🙂 I can’t till this come on the market!
Juleen Kenney says
I am a hair stylist and this is the best thing I’ve come across for storing your styling appliances! I’m really excited to get one of this in my home as well as my salon!
Frances says
I would totally buy that (in wood)! I don’t know about installation though.
Sarah says
This is pure genius. I wonder if it will come to the UK. I hope so!!
Joycee says
Can’t wait for this to be offered on HSN so that I can clear the clutter in my bathroom! So glad I found your website to help me organize my life!
Pam @diy Design Fanatic says
I love it! My teenage daughters share a small bathroom with little storage, so I’ve set up a styling station in their rooms. My oldest daughter needs a whole armoire! You can see it here: http://diydesignfanatic.blogspot.com/2010/11/organized-armoire.html
Love your blog & am a new follower on FB.

Hi Ladies!
I wanted to let you all know that The Styling Station is coming soon! I just received mine from China last week and it is AMAZING! I absolutely love it!!! It has transformed my bathroom completely. My husband is soooo happy! The color choices will be white, espresso and black and it is ultra easy to install–I did it myself in three minutes. It literally hangs on the wall, much like a picture frame. To see the finished product, you can visit my website at http://www.marcymckenna.com. Be sure to let me know if you’d like to be notified when the official HSN launch date is announced. I have other exciting organization products in the works, so I’ll be sure to keep you all updated on those as well.
Best,
Marcy McKenna

Oh that is wonderful news, thanks for coming back and sharing this update with us Marcy. I really appreciate it and look forward to seeing the product available for sale. Woohoo!!

ProductJunkie says
Marcy, I have been saying for years that I desperately needed something in my bathroom to house my many hair appliances and handle the dreaded cords, thank you for getting it done! However, it is such a shame that they are manufactured in China, instead of USA. I recognize that it is much cheaper to manufacture in China but at your price point of $149 and your manufacture cost estimated at less than $20 per unit certainly you could forgo some of that margin to support our country? The Style and Go would sell at a higher price point if necessary and on HSN there is the easy pay option for people to utilize to ease the cost.
Marcy, you are an admirable woman, a fantastic role model and exactly the type of woman I believe should be celebrated rather than drunken celebrities that our media is saturated with. Wouldn’t it be just that more AMAZING if you not only supported our countries economy by manufacturing your products her at home but also a champion of bringing manufacturing BACK to America?
Marcy McKenna says
Thank you so much for your comment about manufacturing in the USA. I couldn’t agree more with you on that subject! Unfortunately, for this first round of product it was completely out of my control, as HSN handled manufacturing in relation to the Homemade Millionaire show. I would love nothing more than for this to be a “Made in the USA” product. I actually am now in the process of trying to source it in the US now but am having trouble finding anyone who is able to do so at a price that would make sense for the retailers. If you have any sources you’d like to share I would be more than open to exploring them.
Again, thank you so much for taking the time to share your thoughts.
All the best,
Marcy McKenna
The Nerdy Nurse says
OH my I love that!
Also, I have to know what plugin you are you are using to get your comments numbered like this!
Melissa J says
I completely, totally want one of these. Oh why oh why do I have to wait **dramatic whine** 😀 I’ll definately have to keep up on her facebook page as well. Now wouldn’t it be AMAZING if she offered it to bloggers for a giveaway…. uugh wishful thinking 😀
Missy Rogers says
I like this idea but there are shelf’s for way less than 150 and I am thinking it would be easy to take a bathroom vanity from a used store and make your own. I have seen things like this in handy man mag for a charging station for cell phones and for power tools that were similar but homemade. If they could make it for less money it would be more worth it not to make your own though.
Marcy McKenna says
So happy to finally be able to tell you that The Style & Go (formerly The Styling Station) is launching on July 25th on HSN! Thank you all for your patience!!!
