Menu Plan Monday ~ May 3rd + giveaway!

Updated to add: The winner of the menu planner is Shannon from Light at Home!

Hi everyone, happy new month to you!  My recipe highlight from last week goes to the Cheesy Ham and Pasta Bake.  Oh my goodness this recipe was so good and my kids gobbled it up which always makes me happy.  Since my hubbie isn’t home, I just halved the recipe and it turned out great.

I’m excited to tell you that today is giveaway day around here.  Not too long ago I was introduced to a terrific menu planning product created by two lovely sister in-laws.  It’s called Pocket Full of Posies, Perfect Pocket Meal Planning and it’s a system designed to make menu planning super easy for busy households.  It consists of a monthly magnetic pocket system for your fridge with a pocket to hold a set of weekly recipe cards and shopping list for each week.   The monthly pockets are made with fun scrapbook paper designs that have been laminated for durability.  There are five easy to make recipes provided per week so all the guess work is done for you.

It’s nice because this system doesn’t require you to designate a certain day for a specific recipe and is especially great for those who want to save time by having someone else select your weekly recipes for you.  There is great flexibility in this system and Emily and Cammie do a fantastic job of explaining how it all works in a video which you can find here.

Today these girls are giving away to one lucky menu planner their Monthly Pocket Package One which includes the following:

1 Magnetic Monthly Pocket

Recipe Packages 1 & 2 (40 recipes total)

8 ingredient lists

All you have to do to enter is just link up to your weekly menu as normal in the Mr. Linky list below, before Wednesday, May 5th at 12:00 pm PST, and I’ll select a winner randomly from the list of participants.  Good luck everyone!

Note:  This particular giveaway is only open to those with blogs who blog their weekly menu plan and link up.  It’s my small way of thanking those who participate in Menu Plan Monday.

Okay so here’s what we’ll be eating this week:

Monday: Spaghetti with Savory Spaghetti Sauce

Tuesday: Sweet Asian Chicken Salad Sandwiches

Wednesday: Mushroom Burgers

Thursday: Leftover buffet

Friday: “Batter Be Good To Me’ Pancakes

Saturday: Cheese-Stuffed Meatloaf (family favorite!) served with mashed potatoes and veggies

Sunday: Steak and baked potatoes

  1. We LOVE having breakfast for dinner! I haven’t made pancakes in forever, though. I may have to give that pancake recipe you posted a try.

Hope you have a wonderful week!

  2. Thanks for sharing that men planning system. I know it’s may seem a little…silly…but I like how pretty the system is. I’m a huge fan of organizing tools having great form and great function, two elements they’ve clearly considered here.

I’m with Cristi on the loving breakfast for dinner idea. What a great way to get the weekend started on a fun note.

As always, thanks for all you do in organizing us this way.

  3. That cheesy ham and pasta bake looks like it might go over well in my house too…I’ll have to snag it for next weeks menu.

That organizer looks wonderful. I’ve been a little less then organized lately…*sigh*

    Happy Monday!

  4. That organizer is TOO cute! And I think I’m going to try that cheese-stuffed meatloaf. It looks wonderful!

  5. Thanks for the link-up! Looking forward to quitting my job so that I have time to think about planning breakfast and dinner!

  6. I’m so happy to hear you enjoyed the cheesy ham and pasta bake! The recipes you have for this week sound wonderful too — like those mushroom burgers! off to check those out 🙂

  7. Hi! That cracked me up that you halved the recipe because your husband was gone. I’d do the same, mine is a big eater 🙂 Thinking my kids would love that recipe too.

Cute giveaway! Have an awesome week!

  8. To register to win, I need to put my name and a link (?) to my website in the box “Mister Linky’s Magical Widgets”? What if I don’t have a website?

    1. I’m so sorry Lori, this particular giveaway is just for those with blogs who are linking up their menus 🙁 I do this every couple of months or so as my small way of saying thanks to those who participate.

  9. Ham and cheese looks yummy!! We’re having a themed week this week, Medieval Monday with poached fish. This should be an adventure…I’ve never poached a fish before. Eeeek!

  10. Sweet Asian Chicken Salad Sandwiches sound really good.

  12. I’ve been menu planning for about 6 months and this is my first time to participate in linking up. Thanks for hosting Laura!

  13. The ham and pasta is very similar to one I make. I actually double or triple the recipe then freeze some. I make some containers of family size and some single servings so my husband can take it to work. It works beautifully!

  14. That menu planning system looks terrific! I went and bought it just so I don’t have to take a chance on not winning the giveaway. Happy Mother’s Day to me!

  15. I would love to win that menu planner. This is my first time and I hope to participate more and get fun ideas for meals. Blessings, Shonda

  16. That is a neat giveaway, if I am not lucky enough to win..I may just try and make something on my own….cool idea!

  17. Back to menu planning this week now that I’m not working late nights at work, thank God the legislative session is over! 🙂

Glad to see that a lot of us are doing the breakfast for dinner, it’s a easy one and a favorite in my house.

  18. My menus are starting to look a bit tired. Next week I am promising myself to be a little more exciting with my menu.

  19. Looks like you have a great week planned! I have a feeling mine is totally overambitious (especially when I went into the pantry this morning and found I’m out of arborio rice and two more ingredients for tonight’s planned risotto – oops! how did that happen?) but I’ve been having a great time with planning lately. This is the first time I’ve ever really planned consistently and it is both extremely helpful and leading to some really tasty food.

Thanks as always for being the catalyst for this MPM movement that is changing all our lives!

  20. Better late than never, I finally got my menu plan done for this week. Thank you so much for doing this every week. I was almost tempted to “wing it” for my plan this week but I knew how that ends up… never good! It feels so good to have it done!

  21. Yum! That pasta dish looks delish. Although, I wouldn’t expect anything less from a SnoWhite recipe 😉 I’m trying her Honey Mustard Chicken Pasta dish this week. Oh, and I saw that your family likes the Enchilada Casserole recipe (Taste of Home)–hubby and I are trying that this week too. Can’t wait to taste it. 🙂

  22. Just linked up my first Menu Plan Monday post. Thanks for doing this. What a great way to get and share ideas. I look forward to finding and trying new recipes for my family.

  23. This is first Menu Plan Monday! I think I’ll have to try your cheese meatloaf – sounds yummy!

  24. Thanks for another great giveaway 🙂 I am trying out 3 new recipes this week- one from Taste of Home (Tortellini Soup) and 2 from Kraft recipes (Primavera Pesto Pasta and Undone Stuffed Pepper Cassrole)

  25. That menu plan system looks fabulous!

Thanks for hosting this meme once again! It really helps keep me on my toes. 🙂

  26. Thanks for the great giveaway! Your menu plan looks really yummy this week. I think the Chicken Salad Sandwiches will be making their way onto my meal plan sometime soon!

  27. That meal-planning system looks just right for me! I know I need lots of help. I’ve been in a menu-plan funk for a month.

  28. Yum! Cheese stuffed meatloaf. I have never had meatloaf with cheese in it before..but everything tastes better with cheese. I am going to have to try that. I tried your pizza crust recipe last week. It was delicious! Thanks so much!

  29. Menu planning is such a chore for me, but I love it during the week when I have done it. I need all the help I can get! Thanks!

  30. Menu planning is such a chore for me, but I love it during the week when I have done it. I need all the help I can get. Thanks!

  31. In my quest to organize my life, I have recently started making menus. This is the first time I have actually posted it on my blog (though I have been reading yours for a few months now). The chance of winning that nifty looking Meal Planning Pocket system was all the motivation I needed to join the party. 🙂 Thanks for the motivation!!

  32. I am gearing up for a big freezer cooking session (tomorrow!) and cannot wait until all I’m doing is planning the meals that are already prepared in my freezer–summer’s just around the corner and I’d rather be playing than cooking (or cleaning up!)

  33. What an adorable meal organizer. I love preparing meals for my freezer and now that I have only 7 weeks left until our third little blessing arrives I am stocking the freezer with as many homemade items as possible.

I look forward to menu mondays and enjoy reading your recipes. Thank you for the inspiration!

  34. Why does it seem that the weeks I have a wonderful plan, dinner gets all messed up?? Oh well – at least I know what else I have on hand to make for fast dinners!
