mpmpencil

Hello!  Well this past weekend has been a horrible one for my family as we all came down with the nasty flu bug.  My house looks like a bomb went off in it.   I laid in bed today surrounded by piles of old copies of my Taste of Home Light & Tasty magazines trying to figure out what to make this week for dinner.  Do you know how hard that is to do when you don’t really feel like eating.  I think I did okay though and found myself some good comfort food I think.  Anyway at least now you know why all my recipes are coming from the same site this week :)

I hope you all have a wonderful sick free week.  This is our last week of summer holidays before the kids start back to school.  Not looking forward to that at all, I will miss the unstructured days of summer that is for sure but will hopefully get back on track with this here blog though.

Looking forward to browsing your menus this week.  Thanks for hanging in there with me.

Monday: Tomato Basil Snackers served with spinach salad

Tuesday: Honey Soy Pork Chops served with Seasoned Yukon Gold Wedges and veggies

Wednesday: Tomato Crab Soup served with Bread Machine Garlic Bread

Thursday: Leftover buffet

Friday: Italian Beef on Rolls

Saturday: Apple Chicken Quesadillas served with Baked Sweet Onion Rings

Simple Supper Sunday

I am so sorry to hear you have been sick. It must be going around the blog world, because I know a few other bloggers who are battling bugs too! I hope you all get better soon.

I hope you’re feeling better!! We’ve had a round of some bug too – just in time for school. I’m with you on missing the unstructured-ness of summer but we probably need to get a little more organized than we have been :)

Sorry you have been sick! I admire you for even trying to plan something! My menu would have been: mac and cheese, frozen pizza… If you need a guest post, I could do some writing for you…

I have to say I don’t think I am as dedicated as you are not sure I could come up with such a tasty menu if I was out for the count. It would probably be soup, soup, tv dinners and take out. ;)

Hope your family is feeling better soon and it is a short-lived bug.

Comfort food is important when you don’t feel well! My 2 yo was sick 2 weeks ago and although I am normally pretty organized, I was amazed at how fast things fell apart! I hope you are feeling well soon!

I hope you and your family are feeling better! :) Well I have gotten myself a little MORE together (one menu plan at a time!) I have looked up some new recipes and I’ve linked some. I am also going to finally post my first recipe. I love love love to cook but I do everything Rachael Ray style (dont mesure, guess, toss it all in!) Im finding it tricky to measure everything to write it down! But I have sucessfully writen down a few and they will be up this week! (If I get an extra minute to myself!) Have a great week everbody! -Sarah

Your menu sounds good to me. I especially want to try the quesadillas.

Looks like Liz is happy being first!! I had my post up on my blog but of course when I do it with the time difference you’re not there to attach to, nearly forgot until I checked computer just before bed and thought – oops better do that before it’s too late.
It is working really well this menu planning, the shopping is working out, going to extend it slightly (haven’t actually noted on here but I have actually baked and know what I will do next when one of the things runs out – 4 kids lunch boxes)

Laura, I hope you and your family get to feeling better soon. Open your windows and get some fresh air!

So far, on my menu is Chorizo and Hominy soup; Deconstructed Lasagne; and Chicken Potpie Bowls. All these recipes come from Everyday with Rachael Ray magazine. First recipe is from Nov 08 issue, other two from Feb 09 issue. Rest of the week leftovers and maybe a meatloaf.
Probably feeding my brother tonight since he’s coming here then we are going to see our mom. My sister, from WA is coming down with her teenage son and meet us at mom’s place (nursing home) after they get done school shopping at a mall. So it’s gonna be nice to have us all together for a bit.
Have a great day!!!

“Do you know how hard that is to do when you don’t really feel like eating.”

Yes, as a matter of fact! That’s my life while I’m pregnant. Hungry, got to eat, everything sounds gross.

So I can empathize with you here and hope you are all back to normal soon!

Ironically, we’ve all been sick last week too, not the flu thankfully, but feeling yucky nonetheless.

Oh Laura, so sorry your family is not feeling well. You are such a good mom still cooking when you are under the weather. I would have been tempted just to make soup.
