Well the end of the month is here and you know what that means don’t you? Time to round-up the work we’ve done on our filing cabinets and all that paper. I’m looking forward to seeing what you’ve done and hoping this round-up was the push you needed to finally get it accomplished. I know it was for me and you can see my own two posts here and here.
Please link up below to a post on your site that shows us both your before and after pictures and remember to use the direct link to your round-up post and not to your homepage. That’s helpful for those of us who might not get a chance to take a peek at your post until later. Also, as a courtesy, if you are going to participate please be kind and link back to this post within your post.
Those that link up before Sunday at 6:00 pm PST will be eligible to win a copy of the Scanalog software that will help organize and categorize all the magazine articles we find helpful but have no idea what to do with. The lucky winner will be selected randomly from the Mr. Linky below.
Next month we are moving on to getting our recipes organized and I can’t wait because mine are a mess!
For more info on Org Junkie’s Monthly Round-Up and how to participate please visit here.
Reminder: Also if you haven’t done so already, today is the last day to enter my Bloggy Giveaways giveaway 🙂

I’m pleasantly surprised to be #2. I can’t ever seem to get in near the top of the list!
Looking forward to seeing everyone’s stuff!

Oh man, I put off my filing! I didn’t have the chance to do it before vacation, but I’m sorta organized and have the stuff in the chair that I need to organize. I will attempt to do it tonight. I’m normally not a procrastinator either!
I love your system!

I missed the ball! Sorry I couldn’t get to participating in this one. Next time. When I do feel like doing it, I know all of your links will be right there, ready for me to conquer them.

Oh my goodness, you would not believe the progress I made in January thanks to your blog! Before and after photos have been posted, and it’s incredible 🙂
Thank you so much!

Sorry, Laura! My son grabbed the mouse and clicked before I could change my link. Little techie brat 🙂

I’ve been clearing clutter but no before/after photos – oops! I recently redid my junk drawer – SO much easier with my junk drawer organizer (worth every penny of the $5 I spent on it) and redid my business files, no more hunting around for paperwork in several accordion files.
Patricia says
You were right. Starting with something small spilled over into other areas. It is nice to have a clear and organized work space back again. Thank you!
And it’s my first round-up. I can’t wait for more.
Krisi says
YEAH! The filing is done and so is all the gathering of tax papers! This project has needed to be done since before we moved! Can’t wait to work on the recipes – although I just did a major overhaul I did need to fix a couple things and then tackle the recipes I have saved in the computer – may try to get a couple pictures of before and after of that!

Hi! I found your blog a couple of weeks ago, and I just love it! Organizing and planning is my hobby! I have been posting my weekly menu on Mondays, and when I saw your Mr. Linky, I knew that I wanted to participate. I did not find you soon enough to participate in the filing round up, but I still plan to tackle that filing drawer! I am looking forward to the recipe challenge too!
Joyfully!

Hi Laura!
Thanks for posting these…getting it done in time to post was a big motivator for me!! It’s kind of funny that I get paid to organize but had this mess behind closed doors!! 🙂

Thanks for the kick in the pants! I’ve been dealing with an overrun office for months now. Whew. I’m so glad its done.

By golly, I think Sr. Citizens like me could pick up a few pointers from this website! I’ve been browsing and have already feel that I could use some of the ideas submitted by some of the other posters. Had ordered my DH SF cookies from Joseph’s and the box has been setting on the D/R table since Sat. wondering where I was going to put all those little snack bags and when I read about somebody’s snack basket for their kids, I spied my bread basket and guess where all those little snacks went? I couldn’t fit the large bags in there, but hey, it’s a start! Before bedtime last night, I grabbed a milk crate full of paper clutter and went through some of it, discarding a lot of weight loss information that I’d printed off the internet sites as far back as 7 yrs. ago. Will tackled that crate and go through the folders more carefully another evening. Thanks to all who are sharing. I want to learn to plan meals according to what’s on sale that week. There’s the two of us and it shouldn’t be that difficult.

Have you noticed that all of the women’s magazines have articles or organizing or decluttering almost every month. Did Oprah and Peter Walsh light a fire under all these magazine editors? Hey, it must sell magazines! In addition to DH revamping his closet, and all the “saved”paper clutter is out on the floor, waiting to be purged, decluttered and discarded. This website has inspired me to get a move on myself and quit procrastinating. Thanks for the inspiration!

I’m working on my “weeding out” project this morning, and I came up with an idea that I’d like to pass along. Found a wooden file box, like one could use for a recipe box. In it, it had the cardboard index cards that I had purchased a few years ago. I had bought the index cards for the months of the year and the numeric cards that could be used for the days of the month. Index cards are cheap, one could divide a pack among each of the 12 months, and each day when you tackle some projects, write it down on the index card and file it under the date(#)and month. At the end of this challenge, you can summarize your accomplishments and see how far you have come! Hope this makes sense to you!

I’m so bummed! I’m behind in reading blogs & missed this month’s roundup. I still want to do it, but will miss out on posting pics. I have 4 file cabinets in 3 rooms, and one is brand new – waiting to be filled. I’ve got BOXES of paper that need to be filed in the file cabinets. I would have loved to have joined in, but you have given me the inspiration to get ‘er done! It helps that I’ve got to do it for tax time, too. Thanks!

I love your site. I am enjoying your tips and the comments. I have a filing tip I would like to share. I have 4 school aged children. I purchase accordian files (mine are plastic) with 15 or more slots. I put my childrens school stuff beginning with pre-school in the accordian file. It holds report cards, cetificates, notes, special cards or art work, yearly school picture, other pictures taken during that year/grade. At the end of high school you will have a completed accordian file. You can use the file if you’re a scapbooker(like me)to keep all the things in one neat chronological order. Makes a great keepsake and can oneday, if you choose, be given to your child so that they can take a walk down memory lane. Good luck with your filing challenge. I am looking forward to the recipe challenge, perhaps I will find a new and better way to organize my recipes.

I failed this month. Yesterday my MIL and I were moving the office to another part of the house and I found more papers I needed to file. But I did start a filing system… and I am thankful for this challenge to get me this far. THANKS!!

Ronni Walsh:What a great idea; wished I had done that with my kids stuff. They are 42 and 39 now, but should do that with some of the stuff the grandchildren have given to us.
I am just fascinated by the inspiration and useful tips on this website. You browse on one link, and it leads you into another’s link and you find more great information. I’m so glad I found this website. Still trying to figure how some of the features though, what’s this $5 dinner?

Better late then never! Here’s to February’s project!!
Roan says
I did it! Better late than never! Are you going to give us ideas for organizing the recipes? I have hundreds of them…on paper, newspaper clipping, recipe cards, etc. All of mine are in a couple of unorganized notebooks, sticking out of cookbooks, and in two huge file folders. Help!

Rounding up your monthly paper document files does not have to be a grueling task or take too much of your time. Bit by bit, as they come along – it would be nice to put them in order and keep them somewhere safe. Putting things in order on a regular basis helps you become more efficient and aware of everything that is happening at work or home. Your files are continuously getting updated and nothing gets lost.
