Menu Plan Monday ~ May 5th

Hello everyone! I have a surprise for you today. I realize it’s been awhile since I’ve introduced a new Menu Plan Monday banner so I thought I’d better make it up to you and went ahead and made 4! I got on a roll what can I say. I love change and get bored easily so why not a new banner for a great little pick me up 🙂 I also know that many hosts of these types of carnivals like their participants to only use one banner but I like having options here on MPM. Oh yes I do although I did go and retire two of them on you but maybe you won’t even notice. I hope you like the new banners but feel free to use any of the ones listed on this page. Options, it’s all about the options people ~ go crazy!!

Our “Go Green” banner:

Our “Bring on the Summer BBQ” banner:

Another “Mr. Smiley” banner (isn’t he cute):

And now because a few of you have been asking for a sidebar button, I introduce to you the “I Love Menu Planning” button!

You can find the code for the button in my sidebar there on the left.  Thanks!

Onto other news this Baked Chicken Teriyaki recipe is so absolutely YUMMY! I’m not just saying that either because I invited my girlfriend for dinner and she ended up making it for me…LOL. So delicious and definitely having someone else make it for you is a nice treat that I highly recommend!

Thanks to everyone for all the cookie recipes in last week’s comments. You gals ROCK!

Here is what we’ll be eating this week:

Monday: Spaghetti Bolognese (didn’t get to last week)

Tuesday: Grilled Steaks served with baked potato and grilled veggies

Wednesday: Baked Honey Mustard Chicken served with perogies and broccoli

Thursday: Homemade Grilled Burgers served with Caesar salad

Friday: Southwestern Chicken Barley Soup served with homemade bread

Saturday: Pizza Pancakes

  1. Oh I love the new smileys..I can’t belive Candi beat me to it..number one!!!! lol ;-)look forward to seeing your meals…have a great week and thanks for hosting everyweek..

  2. Oh! I hope you get your menu up soon. The new buttons are great, and I do notice one of them that’s gone (the pink/purple apron.) 🙂

  3. I tried menu planning for awhile last month but, because these are hard times, I decided to shelve it.

I found out that it was more cost-effective to do our meals my old, usual way. Cook one major meal a day and that would either be lunch or dinner.

This means lunch and dinner combined or dinner and next day lunch combined.
That way we save on energy.

Well, breakfast is breakfast, this is usually the most nutritionally planned meal of our day. Fruits, fresh, juiced or shaked, coffee/honey lemon hot drink, bread and a small amount of unprocessed protein.

My partner and I are past 50 so we mind what we eat. We are at that point:-)

    Thanks and Cheers!

  4. I also used a new banner, love them! That Baked Teriyaki Chicken looks great, might have to add that to my ‘must make list’. Thanks, Kiy

  5. I like the sidebar button. Very cool.

And since I have a keen visual memory.. I can tell you that one of the retired banners is the one with the apron. I like that one. Don’t worry, if I want to use it I’ll just copy/paste it from one of my old posts. 😛

  6. Yes–I noticed the apron banner is gone, too–as that is what I use. Is it okay to use it still?

Also, we had the spaghetti bolognese (I had planned plain spaghetti and changed it after seeing it on your menu). We really liked it. It is very rare for us to all eat the same meal and we did on that–YAY!!

  7. great new graphics. I envy those that can create them. unfortunately most of my ideas stay in my head–wait, maybe that’s fortunately! LOL

  8. I wonder how you make banners and buttons for your site. Do you have a service that does this for you?

  9. Hello, yes please feel free to continue to use the apron one if you want to. I’m totally fine with that. I’ll even re-add it to the list since I see a few of you prefer it!

I make the banners/buttons myself just using Word and then I save them as jpeg and upload to photobucket. It took awhile to figure out and they use to take me forever but now that I know what I’m doing it’s not so bad.

  10. I totally agree on the Baked Teriyaki Chicken, I had to click your link to see if it’s the same as I’ve made (it is) I love how easy the recipe comes together, it’s a tried and true recipe at my house.

  11. I am so excited. We may be going ahead with our plans to buy a side of beef this week. I am drooling over your steaks. I kept planning on them, but they evaporated as pipedreams when I couldn’t find them cheap enough.

  12. Oooh. Thanks for the new banners and side bar button. I’m going to put that little guy on my recipe blog right now! Happy Monday!

  13. I love the new banners! And the button makes me happy, too!

And thanks again for getting me back on and keeping me on track! I’m no longer a vampire so I don’t slide into the early numbers now, but I still make it. That’s a biggie for me lately.

  14. Love all your new banners…great choices. Another great menu plan girl. I have some new recipes myself I’m trying out. Hope you have a great week.

  15. Love all the new banners!! The kids and I are having a Cinco de Mayo dinner tonight and the whole week is kid-friendly, kid-requested meals.

    Have a great week.

  16. I forgot to put it next to my entry #81 but I am looking for a good recipr for homemade pepperoni rolls that do not require frozen bread dough. Anyone have any tried and true recipes? I am just looking for an alternative to the weekly homemade pizza I do on Fridays. I thought if I find a good recipe I can alternate weeks and freeze some of the rolls for busy Fridays.

  17. Love the new banners! I might try the Spaghetti Bolongese recipe too–I love Classico sauces (no HFCS in most of them), and that looks so yummy!

  18. LOVE the new banners/buttons! Thanks, Laura. What a nice surprise. 🙂

Pizza Pancakes sound interesting. Both pancakes & pizza are favorites around here, so I’m sure we’ll try these.

    Have a great week!

  19. After lurking forever and checking out bunches of others, I’m finally joining!!Thanks for hosting this! Blessings.

  20. Thanks for hosting! Thanks for the new banners those are sweet!

Your menu looks good! I am having homemade grilled burgers too this week!

My menus are working out of my stockpile for the next few weeks! 🙂

  21. Thanks for the new banners-I just love computer savvy people!!

I have to give the pizza pancakes a try sometime!! It looks yummy!!

  22. Great looking menu! This week for me we’re eating out of the freezer so it’s pretty easy. The real work will come when I go to fill it back up again. But then again, I’m doing it since the Farmer’s Market has started back up again and I’ll have all these nice local choices. YUM!

I love the new banners. I might have to do some spring cleaning and change mine. Now…which one to choose….decisions, decisions…

  23. Love the new banners and especially the sidebar button.

With the rising prices of groceries, I’m trying even harder to give thought to meal preparation with an eye toward the best nutrition at the least cost.

  24. Hi guys, sorry the code for the new button isn’t working. I’ll try and fix that later today when I have more time.

    Sigh….

  25. Hi Laura,
It’s good to join your MPM again after long time. I deleted my old blog by mistake, but now I have a new kitchen.

    Have a nice day

  26. The apron is gone! But I love the grill! I could have used that one today even! That southwestern soup sounds wonderful. I may just have to use that and change my menu up a bit as we have a couple days of rain forecast.

  27. Your banners are so cheerful. I am new to the menu planning thing but I am on board. Went through the freezer last night and sat down to plan out what we are having.

    Hugs!!!

  28. Okay for the life of me I couldn’t get the code in the scroll box to work in my post but I did managed to get the code working in my sidebar. You’ll see it over there on the left.

I’ve also brought back the apron banner for you which you’ll find under the MPM tab at the top!!

  29. OK, not to throw confusion into the mix.. but I’m pretty sure I just copied and pasted the code and didn’t do anything to it.. and it’s working fine on my page?

But for those who need to know, all you need to do is this:

    Type in

BUT I added a space between “href” and “=” and also between “src” and “=” because I was afraid the code would actually work and I didn’t want it to, I wanted it to stay visible. So, no spaces before the = signs.

  30. On Friday, I decided I would choose one idea from someone elses menu… I haven’t decided yet but will check out the various menu plans people linked on your site! thanks!

  31. I am excited to be joining for the first time. Hopefully this will help me to actually get in the groove of cooking dinner on time rather then being lazy and waiting for someone else to do it.

    Thank you so much!

  32. I am new to Menu Plan Monday, and to the blogging world. Looking forward to sharing some tips, recipes and maybe even getting organized along the way. And if I meet a friend or two…all the better!!

  33. Love the new banners. I’m menu planning again this week. Is interesting trying to work out what we are doing and what meals to cook.

  34. I’ve been posting my menu for quite a while now…I’m just finally making my Monday’s officially menu planning day 🙂

  35. Oh my that Baked Chicken Teriyaki is to die for! My kids (who gripe about most any type of food) just went nuts! Thank you, Thank you, Thank you!
