Quick and easy closet transformation

My hubbie had some free time this weekend and decided he was going to create some extra storage space in his closet. You can only imagine how very happy this made me and NO I didn’t put him up to it because I totally know that is what you were thinking wasn’t it?? Okay I might have said a quiet little prayer that it sure would be nice if hubbie could find a more acceptable solution for the pile of clothing that had slowly taken up residence beside the bed. And wouldn’t you know it, out came the saw and drill and voila. How do you like this for answered prayer?

Nothing says “I love you” like an extra shelf in a closet. That man of mine, he speakith my language!!

I can’t believe all those clothes were just laying up there on that big tall shelf all messy like that and you had not put them in bins! Love the new shelf though. Hooray for your hubby!

He did the entire thing. I’m pretty good about leaving his space alone but it sure isn’t easy…lol.

My sweetie needs a few language lessons. I am glad that after some coaxing he did help me with the big stuff on my Tackle it Tuesday feat last week. :)

I am green with envy. I’ve been hinting for extra shelving for years. I’ll just have to come here and look at the picture once in a while and sigh.

I have to admit that I’m practically drooling over your extra shelf. I would love some more of those! However, I’m also feeling pretty good about getting a small chest-of-drawers moved into my closet over the weekend to house some of the baby things!

That’s awesome. Our closet is looking that way as well. I don’t have a dresser of my own, so ALL of my clothes are in the closet somehow! And so I may take this little idea and use it!

Hi Laura — I love it when my hubby does extra things around the house too! And nothing like a “honey-do” getting checked off the list :)

Have I mentioned that I lust after your container collection? I want to be like you when I grow up.

Me too, Me too – LOL – more closet shelves are always good. What a nice hubby – mine is better at creating the disorganization than the solutions….guess that’s his talent, LOL.

I cant have a closet like that no matter how much i try. I have tonnes of clothes and not enough place to accommodate them. SO no matter how much i try to keep that tiny lil closet of mine tidy, it gets piled up and dirty in no time. I wonder when will i have a bigger cupboard!

I put up a shelf like that (while hubby was on business trip) in our coat closet. Top: vaccum accessories, cowboy hats, box of hubby’s hats. Lower: box of my hats, another box of hubby’s hats.

Dextress, if you can’t thin your wardrobe, then expand your closet.. Fling your puffy sweaters into a bin underneath a nearby table. Make-like a rummage sale for your jeans in another bin. Screw hooks on the door frames for belts/scarves/purses. Stick a dresser or half of one in the closet.. voila- instant “shelves” w/ privacy for unmentionables.

[...] The three stackable drawers on the right is where I keep my feminine products.  Do you see how much space is created by going up?  Again these drawers were purchased from Field’s (another bargain type shop) for a reasonable price (although I don’t remember how much exactly, I’ve had them for awhile).  I’d like to buy another set for the other side but they haven’t had any in stock for awhile so I’m patiently waiting for more to come in   The yellow basket just holds my curling iron, lint brushes and toiletry bags. Your challenge this week is to check your closets and cupboards and see if there is any unused space you can utilize by going vertical.  Perhaps it’s as simple as adding an additional shelf in your closet like my husband did.
