Betty emailed me to ask me about how to go about organizing the weekly store flyers that come in with the newspaper every week. She’d like to keep the grocery store flyers until she has a chance to do her weekly menu planning. Can I just tell you that I LOVE looking at the sale flyers…just love it. Although I’m quite certain I would love it even more if I lived in the city where they get tons and tons! I just can’t resist a bargain. Anyway I like to hang onto the ones I may need to refer back to over the course of the week. My solution for myself was to create a space in a tea cart I have in my dining room which I keep our phone on. It has two wire baskets that slide out and I use the bottom one to store the flyers. This way if I don’t get a chance to read them right away I can just put them in their designated space and as I get time they are ready and waiting for me…..if I neglect them too long though I can hear them calling my name……..you know those voices I often here 🙂
So this is just what I do and what works for me. If you always have newspapers and flyers cluttering your table or countertop, stop fighting it and create a home for them! Just don’t forget to throw them out when the new ones come in.
Have a great weekend!

Just this last week I created my own system for the bulk of fliers that come every week. I love your cart idea though!! Maybe I’ll have to “re-create” a system.
Where did you buy the cart? I have just a spot for something like that!!

We purchased the cart about 12 years ago when we got married. It was from a kitchen type store on clearance!

You always come up with places to organize your things. That is so awesome. I copy some of your stuff because I am not too good at this on my own. I much prefer being a copycat, I hope you don’t mind.

Cute little tea cart. I try to get through those flyers as quick as I can and get them into the recycling otherwise I get buried in them.

SMART! I normally stuff the sales fliers under the couch until I do the menu planning, but your way is actually very attractive. I think I’m going to go through your archives and take notes of all of your smart ideas.

I love the little tea cart…I don’t really have anywhere I’d like to put one but I need to be creative as well with what to do with those sale flyers. They follow me around everywhere, lol, in the van, in the bathroom, on the living room table, in the kitchen…you get the picture.
Thanks for the inspiration!

Laura,
Thanks for the suggestion. After reading about what works for you I think I have a stand that I could make work for me and make a home for my flyers.

I get the sales fliers from the local groceries, but they go straight to recycling! I much prefer to look at them online! lol This way I don’t have to try to find a place for them, if I don’t do this, I get buried in paper!

Well, how easy is that? I hate the pile I always end up with. So I’m looking for a home for them.
You hear voices? Hmmmm. Why does that not surprise me! 🙂

Ok, I just popped over here to leave a message on another one of posts and saw this. YES… I need to create a home for my magazines. As a busy mom I don’t get to read them right away and they pile up on my counter and I hate it. Why didn’t I think of this??? Thank you! You just took a little stress off of my day.

This is a GREAT idea! We get too many, it’s overwhelming. I think with a menu plan, I can focus better on what we REALLY need, and not be tempted to buy more just because it’s on sale.

I have a in box for mine as well. I try to put them in there as soon as I get them and keep my regular mail inbox empty. Of course, this week my mail inbox has been quite full as I haven’t had time to go through the mail with all the Easter activities.
