Hi friends and happy almost new year 🙂 I’m still in holiday mode because my kids don’t go back to school until January 9th. So my decorations are still up and I’m totally okay with it. Last year was the first time I ever kept my decorations up into the new year and I didn’t even twitch too much. It was actually very nice. So I’m intentionally not rushing it this year either, but will enjoy my family time and relaxing for as long as I can stretch it. It doesn’t mean I’m not doing any organizing. Gosh no, that would be crazy talk haha. In fact yesterday I put away all my Christmas serving ware and organized some of the gifts I got. And of course that means doing a purge because I always practice the one in, one out rule. You can read more about that at the link below if you’d like.
How to Put Away Christmas Gifts the Organized Way
As always at this time of year my pageviews go up, most of it from my Pinterest boards as people search out how to get organized in the new year. If this is the case for you and you want to get started please visit my START HERE page where I’ve listed some of my most popular posts. Decluttering is essential to getting organized. Many people don’t understand the purge part of the PROCESS. Even my husband thinks organizing is just all about putting stuff in pretty containers. Umm no that is not quite how it works because if this is all you do, I can guarantee that in just a few months you’ll be right back where you started. I’ll be talking more about the importance of the purge in the future for sure and in the next few weeks I’ll share my purge pile post round-up for 2016 which I know many of you find very motivating. Regular consistent purging is the name of my game and over on Instagram is where you’ll often find my weekly purge pictures. Then at the end of the year I combine them all into one collage.
