Well here we are into fall and I’m just now sharing my homemade version of a Starbucks Frappuccino with you. Oops. It’s taken me all summer to perfect it though I will say that. I had my very first Starbucks drink (and coffee drink for that matter) on June 11th of this year. I was in the city over two hours away and needed a little pick me up for the ride home. It was love at first sip. Oh my was it ever good and just like that I was hooked. BUT there was a teeny tiny problem with me having another any time soon. I live in a small town that doesn’t have a Starbucks. Yep, can you imagine there is even such a thing in this day in age? Ha!
So just like that I was on a mission to create my own version minus a billion calories if at all possible. I got on the Google and searched around, found a few recipes that I thought might work and away I went. Every day for weeks I’d make one and tweak it a little bit here or there until I finally had a most delicious creamy recipe. It’s not identical to Starbucks but in my opinion it’s better. Of course I’m not a coffee connoisseur at all (I still don’t drink regular coffee) so keep that in mind. All I know is that I dream about this treat of mine all morning and usually make one up around one or two. So good!
Homemade Skinny Coffee Frappuccino
Ingredients:
3/4 cup skim milk
2 Stevia sweetener packets
1/4 tsp xanthum gum*
1 Tassimo Espresso made (I would think you could also use 1/4 cup of double strength coffee although I haven’t tried it myself)
7 ice cupes
Half the fat whipped cream
Sugar free caramel syrup (I use about a tsp)
Directions:
Blend the first five ingredients together in a blender. I use a Vitamix on setting 6.
Pour into a tall glass (or two smaller glasses) and top with whip cream and caramel syrup (if desired).
*Xanthum gum is what gives this drink it’s creamy consistency. Without it the drink separates and is more liquid. It makes a big difference so I don’t recommend skipping it. It is often found in the baking section of grocery stores or in the natural foods section.
I calculated that one tall glass, as shown below, is approx. 135 calories! Whoot! You could lower the fat even more by leaving out the whipped cream but it really isn’t the same without it, believe me I tried 🙂 And the caramel syrup gives it just a little added sweetness.
Drink up and enjoy!
You can thank me later 🙂
I often drink mine on the go in my Starbucks insulated cup, yummy!
Let me know what you think if you give it a try! And remember you can easily adjust measurements to suit your taste if necessary.

I am a Starbucks girl all of the way! I love saving my birthday gift cards and stretching them out to use throughout the year. My number one thing that I love on the menu are the frappuccinos! I love that you tweaked this until you got it just right. I can’t wait to try it! 🙂
