Update: The winner of the set of four soft cover cookbooks is #15 Charla at Healthy Home Blog.
Merry Christmas Eve everyone!! Ready or not, it’s here! I suspect Menu Plan Monday will be pretty quiet this week. Might only be us die hards linking up today 🙂 I wanted to thank each and every one of you for joining me here each Monday this past year and most of all I do hope you found keeping a weekly menu helpful for you and your family.
Giveaway:
As my way of saying thank you, I’d like to do an impromptu giveaway for those of you who link up today before 8:00 pm PST. One lucky participant, chosen at random from the linky list below, is going to win all FOUR of these Taste of Home soft cover cookbooks!!
This is the first year we don’t have any company coming to spend Christmas with us. In some ways it’s nice to have so much time with just my family but other times I miss the hustle and bustle that having visitors brings. So we are keeping things pretty low key. We’ve got the tiniest turkey, it’s so cute…shouldn’t take long to cook it up that is for sure. I’m looking forward to spending the whole day in my jammies relaxing!!
We had our monthly dinner club last week as well. This month’s theme was our favorite things. We had to bring our favorite Christmas appetizer and our favorite things for the gift exchange game. For the gift game I brought a Taste of Home Cookie cookbook and one of my favorite bracelets. I absolutely adore inexpensive bracelets. It’s usually the one thing I purchase for myself whenever I travel.
My favorite appetizer is Surprise Spread. Yummy! It’s easy to prepare and doesn’t have to be cooked, which is of course right up my alley!! 🙂
Have a good one everyone!
My Weekly Menu Plan:
Monday: Leftovers ~ got to make sure the fridge is cleaned out before Christmas! We’ll be having an appetizer party later in the evening ~ I’ll be making Pepper Swiss Cheese Ball.
Tuesday: Christmas dinner! ~ Turkey with bacon-infused gravy, Old-Fashion Dressing, Mashed Potatoes, Acorn Squash Slices, Golden Honey Pan Rolls (bread machine) and Cherry Cheesecake for dessert.
Wednesday: Homemade turkey soup served with Bread Machine Wheat Bread
Thursday: Breakfast for dinner ~ Banana Pancake Snowmen Pancakes
Friday: Oven Tacos
Saturday: Pepperoni Pizza Mac & Cheese served with spinach salad
Sunday: YOYO (you’re on your own!)

We generally just celebrate with our immediate family Christmas day. I really enjoy the quiet, peacefulness of the day. We also use it as an excuse for a non-traditional Christmas meal. Wishing you and your family a joyful Christmas!

Laura,
I wanted to thank you for the amazing job you do. This was our year, in eating more healthy and at home. I also quit my job last December so it was important that I get a handle on our expenses. Menu planning was the key!
I hope that you and yours has a wonderful Christmas.

I just had to tell you that I read “Sunrise Spread”……which could work, I guess! At any rate, thanks for the recipe and the menu plan. That is one of my “goals” for the next year, to have a plan and try to stick to it!
