Welcome to a hot summer Menu Plan Monday. Gosh I love the heat and later this week my kids and I will be traveling to Ontario where the heat will be even more intense. I can hardly wait! Sick I know 🙂
So last week I think I accidently misled many of you. It was totally by mistake I promise! I got quite a few emails on the beauty of these buns:
Many of you were looking for the recipe and how to shape them so beautifully. Unfortunately I didn’t make them, a friend of mine brought them to our potluck. I can tell you though that they were absolutely delicious and lovely. I’m still dreaming about them in fact. My friend is out of town so I don’t have a recipe for you but I will try to get it once she is back. Anyone have a bun rolling video tutorial on your blog you can share with us? I can never seem to figure it out myself.
Giveaway:
You all know how I love Taste of Home and the other day when I was in Walmart I noticed they had three great soft cover cooking issues out. I picked them up to gift three MPM participants to help you with your menu planning efforts. To enter simply link up to the MPM linky as you normally do (or now would be a great time to join us if you haven’t already!) prior to Wednesday, July 11th at 6:00 pm PST. I will pick three random winners from the list to win one of the cookbooks each. It will be a surprise which of the cookbooks I’ll send to each of the winners.
So as I mentioned earlier we are getting some nice temps here so this week is all about keeping the menu simple and the house cool. I hope you all have a wonderfully organized week!
My Menu Plan:
Monday: Skillet Tacos served with green salad
Tuesday: Greek Chicken Pita Folds – scroll down (thanks to Rona for the link)
Wednesday: Just Peachy Pork Tenderloin served with perogies and corn on cob
Thursday: Leftover buffet
Friday: We’re leaving on a jet plane, so excited!!

Those rolls do look good! And I agree I love Taste Of Home. I have not seen any of those issues, but they look great. You can not go wrong with Taste Of Home recipes. I hope you have a great week and enjoy the heat. 🙂

The Greek Chicken pita sounds delish… but I have to tread lightly with chicken because it’s not my hubby’s fave. 🙁 Hope you have a great trip!

Great giveaway! I am so excited. I am such a sucker for those magazines myself, even if I have to alter everything to be gluten and dairy free- I cave every time. Everyone needs one vice, right? LOL!
Have a great HOT week. 🙂

What a great giveaway, I love Taste of Home. I don’t have a video on making rolls, great idea though! The easiest way I’ve found to make homemade rolls pretty, is to roll the dough out in a thick log style, cut them into even size pieces, I use a pizza cutter, then roll them into balls and place into your pan, sides touching. I do have a recipe and picture posted on my blog. : )

Thanks so much for the linky party and the giveaway! Back in the spring of 2011 I discovered your party, and although I didn’t blog about my cooking back then, this linky party kept me sane! I had to go to the hospital every day to have my {twin} pregnancy monitored, and so every afternoon I’d look at menus to occupy my mind! Thanks so much!

Ahhh that’s awesome! Thanks for the great encouragement!!

Those rolls do look amazing – I have a pretty easy recipe that I use to make rolls like these, but they are 100% whole wheat and yet still soft and beautiful! It’s not a video (good idea, though!), but does have step-by-step photos. People are always impressed by them – both by how they look and that they are so soft, but still 100% whole wheat!

Have fun in Ontario (here in the NW, we’ve been longing for hot weather, too, so I’m totally with you on enjoying the heat)!
Rachel @Organic Patchwork says

I didn’t follow directions very well, but this is my first time linking! I’m taking the challenge and putting it out in the blogosphere. Scary! I’m a devoted reader, by the way.

Just found your blog. Loving MPM, I think it will really help dinner time go more smoothly! Did notice that the ‘Crockpot Chicken Greek Pita’ link isn’t correct. Would love the recipe, sounds yummy!
Laura says
You just have to scroll down on the page the link directs to. Thanks!

I love TOH too! I just saw they had a freezer cooking softcover book out on the shelf as well. I was so close to buying it but saw t was $10 – yikes! So I thumbed through it and tried to memorize so of the recipes 🙂 most likely I will go back to buy it 🙂

We love eating sandwiches and salads during the summer. The Chicken Pitas are now a family favorite. I purchase the freshest pitas from a local health store. It really makes a difference. I hope you and your family enjoy them too.
