Welcome to Menu Plan Monday, so glad you are here! I have finally switched over to a new host and I can’t believe how super fast my site is now although today will be the big test. Please, please let me know if you get any sort of error trying to connect and link up to Menu Plan Monday. I know how frustrating it’s been to get those errors week after week (I would get them just trying to post) so I’m praying all goes well today and it’s smooth sailing ahead.
Today in honor of my new host and hopefully no error messages (!), I’m going to giveaway to one MPM participant, two Taste of Home softcover cookbooks. You know how I love Taste of Home and these two books are fantastic.
All you have to do to enter is add the link below to your Menu Plan Monday post as usual. Please link up by Friday morning, May 25th at 9:00 am PST and I will select a winner at random from the list of participants. No comment required. If you’ve never participated in MPM before, then today could be your very first time. Don’t be shy, we’d love to have you join us! 🙂
Last week we celebrated Teacher Appreciation Week by putting on a luncheon for the teachers. We kept it simple and ordered in Subway sandwiches and asked parents to bring in salads and desserts. We purchased beautiful flower arrangements for the tables and gave them away to the teachers afterwards. It turned out so well and I think the teachers really enjoyed themselves.
Free printables from here and here.
To teachers everywhere, thank you for all you do to help educate our children. Your dedication doesn’t go unnoticed!!

Holy cow your site is FAST now! I used to spend at least 10 minutes trying to just get on the site on Monday mornings. Today- it loaded immediately. I was in shock, I didn’t know what to do. Haha!

OK, I am impressed! Who is your new host? DM me if you don’t wanna say – u should be an affiliate for them and start spreading the word. Seriously, your site is impressive today!
I switched too and am happy with the hosting, but I have had some issues cropping up with the move. She jumps on them immediately and hasn’t once given me an excuse.. she just fixes the issue and we move on! 🙂

I decided to go with Liquid Web…they came highly recommended and my site didn’t even go down during the migration. Sweet!

I just found you. This is great. I will have chicken alfredo tonight and sausage tomorrow. Hopefully after that I’ll get cracking for the rest of the week. I keep a blog with the recipes my family enjoys the most so I don’t have to ever go looking for a recipe. Once my famiy says, “Yum”, the recipe goes on the website. I’ve been going through a divorce so taking the time to plan a menu has been hampered by my being overwhelmed. Thanks for providing a little light in my week today.
Also, not sure how bad the old host was, since I just found you, but this site was pretty quick. No complaints.
Laura says
Welcome!!

It’s been a while since I’ve participated and I’m glad to be back! 🙂 You’ll have to let us know how the Farmhouse Chicken turns out… it looks delicious!

Yay for no errors! I was having trouble with that too. Thanks for fixing it!
Cute luncheon photos! Looks like you did a great job

Oh, what a sweet thing to do for the teachers! As a teacher myself, that would be such a blessing. You have a great week here too – I love crockpot sloppy joe’s!
Helen @ Random Bits says
I just decided to start posting my menu plans since I do actually do the planning every week. Happy to link up here- Thanks!

I love Taste of Home, too. Thanks for the giveaway!

Holy Speedy, Batman! New host = Awesome! Seriously fast. I’m curious as to who your new host is to, but only if you don’t mind sharing. : )
The meal-planning printable is adorable, but I especially like the subway art Teacher Appreciation gift. I’ve developed this odd fascination with subway art, and I’ve been creating my own like mad lately.
Your menu this week looks scrumptious, as usual. I’m personally going to give the Farmhouse Chicken Dinner a go next week.
Thanks for hosting, Laura! Hope everyone has a wonderful week!
Laura says
Hi Kelly, after getting the recommendation of many, I decided to go with Liquid Web.
Megan says
Your meals look great. Is there a spot where i can print out all of the recipies without clicking on each one as well as a complete grocery list?
Laura says
Hi Megan, I don’t do that each week as most of the recipes on my menu aren’t tried and true yet. However on my recipe index page there is a printable grocery list you can access for many of the recipes (although not all). Just click on print grocery list for the recipes you are interested in and it will combine them all into one list for you.

Hope that helps!

Loving all the meal plans! I’m been planning on blogging for a while and FINALLY got my start. It’s my first time, but I’m a planner, so I’ll definitely be back. 🙂

Thanks!

I hate to be the party pooper — but every time I try and upload a picture (from my computer for my image) it tells me it timed out (but it happens really fast.) I tried yesterday and today.
Laura says
Hi Shannon, I see that it’s worked for you now. Thanks for linking up and sorry you had some trouble. Laura
Shannon says
It will let me link to a picture on the blog – it won’t let me use the other tools (upload from computer.)
But on a happy note – your new server is a million times faster than before 🙂
Joanna says
I want to menu plan so badly, but I have a long list of foods that I can’t eat: peanuts, dairy (in any form), soy, chili peppers, garlic, pineapples, lime…..and there are more but I won’t bore you. I’m looking for recipe sources that will adapt recipes. Everything yummy seems to have dairy and or soy (soy sauce, worcershire, bbq) in some form. The other ingredients are a little easier to substitute, but the dairy and soy can be difficult. Suggestions anyone?
Shannon says
There are some good gluten free blogs – you could try searching for those. Or vegan pages? Not that you are trying to be vegan – but the recipes are usually ‘cleaner’ in terms of ingredients. We have tree nut, pork, strawberry and shell fish allergies in our house of 5, so I know it can be frustrating.
Kristi @ Veggie Converter says
Dairy’s pretty easy to substitute. Coconut milk and almond milk are two of my favorites. Coconut oil is also an AWESOME butter substitute. For the soy, Bragg’s liquid aminos is a soy free soy sauce substitute. You can often find it at regular grocery stores, and definitely at Whole Food and the like. Hope that helps! Feel free to contact me with more questions. I convert recipes pretty regularly ([email protected]).
Mindy says
(So which host did you go with? And did the template you used help? Mine is dragging ass…)
Laura says
I went with Liquidweb and the migration was relatively painful 🙂
Mindy says
Argh – I have three different hosts – one for The Mommy Blog, another for MelindaRoberts.net , and another for Mini-Media.net, where I hoped to consolidate everything but am skittish about disrupting other sites I’m hosting for clients, mostly friends and family. Migrating feels like having root canals on all molars at once, so I’m not eager to start. (I’m using Hostmonster, but have also used BlueHost and have my company URL hosted at iPage.)
Laura says
Oh my goodness, forgive me. I meant to say relatively painLESS! Seriously I was amazed at the process because I thought it was going to be much harder than it was. They took care of everything for me.
Susan (5 Minutes for Mom) says
I’m so happy to hear you switched hosting companies. Years ago we used to use BlueHost and had the same problem. They are horrible!!!!! We use LiquidWeb now and love them.
By the way, I’m planning to be link to your Menu Plan Monday on Thursday from the Birds Eye Vegetables Facebook page as I’m being their community manager for the day. I will be recommending Menu Plan Monday so I think you’ll get another traffic increase. Good thing you’re done with BlueHost.
