Family Travel Checklist

Many of you are preparing for holidays right about now so I thought this might be a good time to re-post my Family Travel Checklist again.

I’d be lost packing for a trip without my lists, it’s what totally keeps me from losing my marbles completely.  This is the same list I use every time we go away however I should point out that I only have three kids, not four.  I added that extra column for those who might be blessed with four kids.  If, however, you happen to be traveling with more than four little whipper snappers, well I give you more than this list.  I give you my admiration and a standing ovation, whew you definitely deserve it! :)

Thanks for the travel checklist Laura. I used it the other week when we went away and it was a great way to make sure we had everything.

One item we needed that I didn’t see on the list was hats. I added it myself but maybe it would be worth adding for others as well?

I have always used a check list. I can’t travel without it. I also found after we came home from our trip and should have taken something I add it to my list for the next year. I also update my list every year as my children grow.
Thanks for this travel check list, it’s great.

I have a similar list and I wouldn’t be able to travel without it. On long road trips, I have a binder! It helps me remain organized to keep us on schedule and on budget. I can cram a week’s worth of activity into a long weekend without feeling rushed or like we missed out on anything:-)

Laura, Thank you for this post. How timely, we are leaving on Thursday! I always have a list, but feel as though I still am forgetting something. It’s nice to have another to compare to!

I would be totally lost without travel checklists. My hubby used to be a spur of the moment traveller so I’d always have a list in the suitcase ready to go.
Last summer I failed to go over my checklist before we left the hotel and sure enough I left my camera battery and charger plugged into the wall and didn’t realize until we got home. That was a nice hundred dollar plus mistake.

Yes, thank you so much for this list. Now I don’t have to reinvent the wheel for myself.

Also, I have a second checklist for to-dos (stop mail, stop paper, stop milk delivery) that I’m working on. I just go through my daily routine and then figure out what’s affected.

I recently typed up my own travel essential list, and I’m eager to compare it to yours to see if I left anything off!

Thanks!
